Am I completely nuts for this schedule?

Don't go to the Yachtsman the night of the Christmas party. You'll miss half the party on the meal and travel time.

An afternoon nap sounds like a good idea, but you'll need to be waking up at like 2:30 at the latest to make a 4:00 dinner at Cinderella's Royal Table. Unless you plan to sleep on the Carousel of Progress or something.

Thanks. What about Wolfgang Puck at 4:00 then? Or is any signature restaurant outside of MK just not a good idea?

So, my schedule for Tuesday right now is the same as originally:

Tuesday

Breakfast at Tusker House @ 9:05 am

Dinner at Cinderella's Castle @ 4:00 pm

Thus far, I haven't been able to find an earlier time for breakfast, or a later time for dinner.

But I'm thinking of changing dinner to this:

Yachtsman Steakhouse @ 5:00 pm

Keep in mind that we are going to the Christmas Party that same evening at Magic Kingdom.

If I can, it'd probably be good to get a nap in sometime around 3 this day.

So what would you guys recommend? Keep my current schedule, change dinner to Yachtsman, cancel dinner altogether, or something else?

Eating dinner at Cinderella's castle isn't a big deal, I've heard the food wasn't fantastic, we ate breakfast there last year so it's not like we've never been, and we're going to Akershus the next morning anyway.

On the DxDP, it's important to consider the geography -- You don't want to spend all your time in transit to the reservations. So if you're going to me at the MK party at night, I'd want to eat dinner either at your home resort, or at MK. For that reason, I'd consider keeping CRT, or look for a signature restaurant in 1 of the MK resort hotels.

If this is your AK day, I'd consider canceling the breakfast, and just doing a QS breakfast at your resort before you head out for the morning. It's still a perfectly good value of the DxDP to do a small number of CS meals. Besides, if doing a CS breakfast, you might not even really need to use meal credits -- can make a good breakfast out of snack credits, giving you extra meal credits to use for another signature meal.

Which Wolfgang Puck?

Wolfgang Puck Express is a quick service restaurant.
Wolfgang Puck Cafe is a 1-credit casual restaurant.

The other Wolfgang Puck restaurant isn't on the dining plan.

But again, if you're doing the MK party that night, then I'd dine at/around MK.

I looked quickly for the Tuesday night after Thanksgiving, saw openings at The Wave at the Contemporary, at Citrico's at the Grand Floridian, as well as Kona Cafe at the Poly.

When I search for Signature Restaurants, Wolfgang Puck Cafe shows. I thought all Signatures were 2 credits.

Wolfgang Puck Cafe has a first floor casual restaurant, which is 1-credit. The upstairs "dining room" is a signature restaurant, but it is NOT on the dining plan at all.

Citrico's is at 5:55, that's not really enough time to dine and make it in to MK before the switch over. I'd like to be in MK at around 6:30 at the latest.

Artist's Point has a 5:30, and then you could take the boat over. But still wouldn't make it by 6:30. You may want to keep your reservation at the Castle, or make a 1-credit reservation within the MK.

From DTD or any of the non-MK resorts, you would need to budget 30-45 minutes to get to MK. So even a 4:30 dinner reservation in Downtown Disney would not reliably get you to MK by 6:30.

If I could get the Castle changed to 5:00, is that enough time to be out by about 6:15 to see the Castle Light up show?

Possibly, but not necessarily. When we had dinner at the castle, we waited 20 minutes to be seated. And dinner is easily over an hour. So you could potentially be cutting it very very close.

Have you changed your Monday? I looked at it again, you are practically going straight from breakfast to afternoon tea.

I'm pretty happy with Monday. Why? Because I'm staying with family in Orlando the weekend prior. We'll then have a slow morning, drive to Chef Mickey's, eat, and then have an hour or two in between that and Tea. At which time, I need to go to Ticketing and do some things. Once at Tea, it is only for my 4 year old daughter, we don't get to participate. So, after Tea, we'll go check into our hotel, grab a snack, and then wait for Dinner. Then, possibly go to MK after Dinner for Extra Magic Hours.

Ahh, ok.... That makes sense. I thought you might be trying to squeeze in activities in between.

I wouldn't do a signature the night of MVMCP. They take longer than a regular 1 TS meal and in order to maximize your party time, you'll want to get there before 7pm. We got to MNSSHP around 6pm and wish we would have gone in at 4pm. We spent a lot of time waiting for things and didn't get to do as much as we wanted.

Have not read every post but.......

For MY family that would be way too much; but we dont eat all that much anyway. And sooooo much park time would be missed getting to and from reservations not to mention waiting to be seated and all that.

If I had to eat at more than one sit down we would have a light snack in the room and do a later character breakfast and then signature dinner at 5 or 6 with the little ones. or a early breakfast and very light lunch with a early dinner

When my son was that small we would eat breakfast at the resort most days, have lunch in the parks and then do a 3 hour or so nap and back out for dinner and maybe to the parks for another hour or so and to bed. Some days we did the character Breakfast but they were before park opening then we would have a light lunch and 5 or 6 pm dinner.

i would keep the CRT for MVMCP night... although there will be minimal room for a nap if you are planning to tour any of AK after b'fast...

btw, what resort are you staying at?

Can you post your park plans with your meals? That might help figure things out.

This seems much better to me. You will probably be tired and get a late start on Wed., but it seems like a much better schedule than before. You did a great job taking suggestions and adjusting - really terrific! :yay:

My trip isn't until November 2012 and I have already mapped it out. My family also have chosen the Deluxe Dining Plan. My kids are older, one is a vegetarian (who really doesn't like salads) and the other is a growing 15 year old son who usually likes steak. We are going for 9 days and the first part it is just our family (I have 3 meals scheduled for Epcot) but the second part my aunt and cousin (8) are joining us. They have never been to Disney so I chosen a character breakfast every morning and at least 2 dinners. I tried pricing it out and even without all the meals being used at sit down restaurants we still are saving at least $300 and that doesn't include the snacks.
