Am I being unreasonable?

These things just crack me up. I don't particularly like gift registries because I like the gifts to be a surprise. However, if there's a party I like to know about it ahead of time and have it be attended by people I care about. _ On the other hand many people like registries that tell you exactly what gift to get, and the surprise is when you'll get them and who will give them to you (apparently friends of the hostess).

I don't think surprise showers are a regional thing - I think they are a generational thing. Waaaaaaay back when, when lives were less hectic (I know none of us remember THOSE days!) surprise showers were given and the guest of honor didn't need to give input on the guest list cuz her only friends and family lived within a 10 mile radius!!!

I didn't take the time to read the entire thread. If surprise showers are common in your area then yes, you're being unreasonable. You're the guest NOT THE HOST.

You should be able to trust that your partner will give you enough of a heads up so you are dressed properly for the party.
