Am I being a snot?????

We've booked the BWV on points for November, this is the first time we have ever stayed in "home away from home". My concerns are these: Will I get the same "Disney" feeling staying here? I don't know about you guys, but I love getting up early, hitting the parks all day and then coming back to a nice clean room, freshly made bed and clean towels. I love my daily supply of Mickey toiletries. I just found out that at the BWV, we only get "trash and towel" service on day 4 of our 5 night stay. So, I will be making my own bed on vacation? Can I call down to the front desk and get extra pillows if I want them? Do I have to pay for them? Does the BWV have that obnoxious 24 hour program that tells all about what's going on in the parks (I watch it every minute I am in the room even though it is the same thing over and over...I just LOVE it!!!!)So, do the benefits of having a fridge ect . in the room outway no daily maid service?? Are the Villas isolated or are they connected with the rest of the complex?

Don't worry, you can pay for daily maid service if you want it.

If you really want, you can pay for housekeeping service. You can pay for daily service or every other day. For what you are saving by renting points I would pay for the housekeeping. Housekeeping is important to me also.

The villas are basically connected to the BWI.

You'll love the size of the rooms and the kitchen, whirlpool tub, etc.

I don't think you could get more of a Disney feeling than being right there on the Boardwalk.

You will still get Mickey toiletries.

If you are paying cash, you will still get daily housekeeping. If you are renting points, you will not. As others have noted, you can pay extra for it. Think about it - if you want to sleep in, no maid will be banging on the door. If you want to hangout in the room, you don't have to leave to let the maid work. There are advantages.

You can call down for extra pillows - they won't charge you.

You still get the "obnoxious" 24 hour TV program.

You will have to make your own bed if you want the bed made.

If you are in a studio, you get a small fridge, microwave, toaster, coffeemaker, paper plates and plastic cups. If you are in a 1 bedroom, you get a FULL KITCHEN and a washer/dryer. This, to me, makes up for a lot.

The Disney feeling? You can walk over to Epcot or MGM (10 min Epcot, 20 minutes MGM). You can step outside and be on the BOardwalk. If you get the right view, you can step out on the balcony in the evening and see some of the fireworks from Epcot, MK or MGM. A few rooms even get you 2 out of 3!! How much more Disney can you get?!

BWV are a deluxe resort. You get all the same thing as any other WDW deluxe with the exception of daily maid service, plus you get a lot more space. If you really want Daily maid service you can pay for it the price depends on the size of the villa you are in?

It's your Home Away from Home. Make the bed at home? Do it here. Wash the dishes at home? Do it here.

It really is no big deal. Not waiting for someone to come into your room every day is really nice.

Personally I would go with a regular room and rent a fridge. Having a full kitchen next to me on vacation depresses me just thinking about it. Bring me a maid to fix my bed, give me clean towels, and vacuum my room daily and I'm a happy camper. I love my home but the last thing I want while on vacation is a "home away from home". I want a vacation AWAY from home!

Once again, I agree with skiwee. Maybe I'm a little touched in the head, but I actually LIKE a hotel room that looks like a hotel room. It makes me really feel that I'm on vacation at a resort. I, too, would rather not see a kitchen to remind me of home. I love room service and eating at all the great Disney restaurants, so what do I need a kitchen for? Maybe I'm a bit of a "snot" too, so I don't intend to cook or make my bed on vacation, because I do it EVERY OTHER DAY OF THE YEAR! So basically, I know where you're coming from . However, I'm sure that the above posters who have experienced BWV know what they're talking about, so it sounds like there will be plent of Disney "Magic" anyway!

These are my thoughts exactly! When I go on vacation I don't want to see a kitchen, make a bed, go food shopping or do laundry because I do that everyday at home. I don't think you are a snob, it just depends on the type of vacation you want .

Eeyore is right...once you have stayed at the boardwalk villas you will never want to go back to a regular resort room....maid service or not...they are just way better...adn the boardwalk is wonderful.

There is plenty of disney magic....we love it there!

Just because the kitchen is there, doesn't mean you have to use it. It is nice to have someplace to chill that bottle of wine or put the leftovers. Maybe have a midnight snack or something for breakfast without having to stand in line.

You can make your vacation in a villa whatever you like. You can order room service instead at BWV. You can pay for the maid service. Being able to spread out and have "space" for everyone is a real luxury. The jacuzzi is nice after a long day in the parks (not in the studios). The idea of no maid service upsets many people but once they experience it, most people don't miss it and/or actually enjoy not having to worry about the maid coming in. For longer stays, there is a full cleaning.

Thanks for all the replies...Skiwee and Phyliss, you got it exactly. I am on vacation. I look forward to not cooking, cleaning and making my bed!!! Maid service...that's what I'm talkin' 'bout!!!! I will inquire about getting daily maid service.

The daily charge for maid service for the DVC resorts is $25 for a studio, $30 for a one bedroom, $40 for a 2 bedroom. I can't remember the charge for the GV, but I think it's $50, but don't hold me to it. Just call housekeeping upon arrival to your room, to set up cleanings. You can do an few or many as you want.

I totally agree! I once stayed in a hotel where the room had a separate bedroom, kitchen, living area and I so didnt feel like I was on vacation. Yes it was considered a "nicer" place, but thats not what I want. I dont want to feel like Im at someones house. To me, vacation=hotel. Im happy at ASMO.

There is nothing wrong with the home away from homes, but they just dont give me the vacation feel.

You guys are funny! I guess to each his own on a vacation, but once I stayed in a 2 bedroom villa I could never go back to a regular hotel room. Why would I want to be in a cramped little room with 2 beds and everyone getting on each others nerves when I can have relaxing time with 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and a living room? My kids absolutely love having their own bedroom. You will have to let us know when you get back what you thought.

It takes me 30 seconds to pull up teh spread every morning, and less than a minute to put the sofabed back together.

I'll trade that anyday for having:

the soaking tub in the master bedroom, the privacy for mom and dad, the king bed, the VCR, the washer and dryer, the space to move around without tripping over each other, the ability to invite friends to visit and have a living room area as oppsed to sitting on beds...

As far as the kitchen, I enjoy having the big fridge tos tock with beer, wine, cheese, milk and soda. I like making tea in the morning while I'm still bleary eyed and looking like Cruella DeVille. And what's an oven?

We stay in a 3 bedroom, 3 bath townhouse right on the ocean each summer for 2 weeks.. We also stay for one week in a hotel on the ocean every summer. DH gets the townhouse free for our use for 2 weeks so it is a heck of a deal. I still choose to go for a week in the hotel because the townhouse doesn't feel very vacationy. I hate seeing the kitchen. I don't want the conveniece of grabbing a bowl of cereal. That leads to the inconvenience of washing the bowl and worse yet, dragging a box of cereal and milk to the place. Give me the hotel over that townhouse anytime! Yes the townhouse is bigger, it's huge, but it is too much like a house and nothing like being at a resort.

skiwee1... Maybe the big difference is when I stay at the Beach Club Villas, I am staying at a Resort. These are just Villas that are in a Resort so you still have all the amenities of of a deluxe resort at WDW with more space. (I don't use the kitchen). I do understand what you mean about staying in a Townhouse, I have done that at Hilton Head as well. It was just like being at home except I had a beautiful view of the beach, and you don't get the resort amenities, at Beach Club Villas you do. I had turn down service every night last Month when I was there, with little chocolates on my pillow. I ordered room service for breakfast several times. A nice guy showed up at my door and put a table cloth on my table and placed my breakfast at it. It was wonderful!

I stayed in BWV a few years ago (through CRO). Daily maid service was included. Any dishes left in the sink were washed by the maid (or put in the dishwasher which was run). The only "cooking" that we did was coffee and microwave popcorn.

If maid service is important to pay for it. You don't have to agree with the posters who feel it's not important.
