We always book our flights / accommodation / car hire / park tickets etc independently - this way you can tailor your holiday to exactly what you require.

There is a lot more work involved in the preparation of the holiday (although I do enjoy it !!!) but the the savings that can be made are well worth it.

There are loads of sites on the web to obtain quotes such as:

Flights - Virgin Atlantic / BA

Car Hire - US Car Hire / Florida Car Hire

Park Tickets - Attraction Tickets Direct / Theme Park Tickets Direct

Websites for accommodation will depend upon whether you are after a hotel or villa.

In the past we have booked hotel accommodation direct through their websites - you can often get some excellent savings codes if you search around on the net !

For villa accommodation we always book direct with the owners - again you can get some great deals with a little negotiation !

Some of the sites I have used to locate villas are - Holiday-Rentals / Villas 2000 / Orlando Villas / VRBO.

we always book our flights and then book a villa and carhire separately as it is alot cheaper.
where did you want to stay onsite?? or offsite??
what size car did you want?

he first 2 trips we did with Virgin and there were no problems. However, one of the trips we were caught up in a hurricane. It was ourselves who ended up arranging an extension for the room as we were due to move out during the hurricane rather than Virgin. It then occured to me that why should I go through a company and what were the benefits?

So this year I have done it myself. We have booked the accomodation through Disneyworld UK (who I found the cheapest) and the flights through Virgin and the car through Dollar.

Being the USA where it is a popular tourist resort and english speaking I cannnot see any need to pay a premium for a travel company and the independant traveller has a wide choice of very reputable suppliers although after the last couple of days I think you do have to go for as strong a company as you can (i.e Disney, God forbid anything would happen to them)

To end, I am VERY happy to arrange it all myself, even though I am a cautious person as I think you can get everything you want - but cheaper

If you decide you want a hotel try travelsupermarket.co.uk as this searches a lot of hotel suppliers and gives you the prices of all suppliers to each hotel. It is amazing how the same hotel can be so different in price depending who you book with.

Also some of the hotel suppliers are on quidco.co.uk so you can earn £ cashback too. Been doing this for over 2 years now and saved loads.

We had booked with TCD
Have since rebooked with Disney UK for accomodation (disney tickets free DDP and ME) and then went to BA for flights (using credit card)
Saving of £300+ on original booking only difference is flying one day earlier

Hey,

We were booked with TCD meant to be going to Disney on September 2009 - staying at Saratoga Springs for the two weeks with the free DDP.

Obviously that went wrong, so we phoned Virgin and got a great deal with them and are now staying at AKL for the two weeks which we are more excited about.

Virgin were brilliant with us and really helpful....
