Alternative to La Nouba??

I am taking my family to DW for a week in September (DW, DS7, and DD4), this will be our 4th annual trip. I promised my wife that for one night I would pay a babysitting company, and we would have a night on our own and see La Nouba.

Now as we are approaching 90 days and we are getting ready to plan ADRs, I learned La Nouba wont be showing Sept 20-28, when we will be there, OUCH.

Can anyone recommend an alternative something I can take my wife to (in DW or nearby Orlando) so we can have a quality night away from the kids in or near DW?

Thanks!

Joey

I don't know if it's a replacement for La Nouba, but Church Street Station and Rosie O'Grady's is fun.

How about Blue Man Group over at CityWalk at US/IOA? It's a really good show...very different from La Nouba, though. Lots of fun!

Where are these? Having trouble finding these with google...
Church Street Station and Rosie O'Grady's have been closed for some time. Most of downtown these days is college kids. Probably not what you're looking for!

Someone suggested Blue Man Group at Universal. That would be a great option. It's not at all like Cirque, but it is a really well-done, unique and entertaining show. You can look them up on line and watch some clips.

Some other suggestions ...

  • Raglan Road at DTD. Great food and live music. Lots of fun. One of my favorite places.
  • SAK Comedy in downtown Orlando. They have live comedy shows pretty much every night. Lots of fun if you like improv.
  • The Ice Bar on International Drive. You get a parka and an icy cold vodka drink as you experience a bar (and sofas and tables, etc) made totally out of ice. Then head out to a nearby restaurant ... there are many in the area.
  • Gaylord Palms in Kissimmee has a lot of great restaurants and a huge interior atrium that you could wander through. It showcases all the different parts of Florida (Keys, Everglades, etc).
  • House of Blues and Bongos (both at DTD) both have live music most nights, if you like either contemporary soul food (HOB) or Cuban cuisine (Bongos).
  • Cafe Tu Tu Tango on International Drive near the convention center has tapas and live music in a very artsy setting (original art on the walls with artists working inside the restaurant).
  • The Sand Lake Road area (just north of WDW) has all sorts of options -- Ruth's Chris Steak House, The Samba Room, Roy's, Melting Pot, SEasons 52, Timpano Chop House, etc. LOTS to choose from for a special night out.
  • If you want entertainment, there are several dinner shows around, although they mostly cater to families (Medieval Times, Pirates, Arabian Nights, etc). Not a lot of really artsy grown-up stuff, I'm afraid!

Hope you find what you're looking for!

Oops, sorry I did not know that. It has been many years since DW and I have gone there. I just remember it was a pretty cool place to go. We'll in that case I got nothing :confused3....I'm no longer allowed to leave LBV when were down in WDW. :worried:

There are twoother dinner shows worth mentioning as they are a bit more adult. Capone's, a speakeasy nightclub from the 30's in Kissimmee and Sleith's, a murder mystery on International Blvd near ASO. We did both in January and saw one kid total.

DW and I did dinner at Narcoosee's at GF, and then a bit of a "drinks around the lagoon" while the kids were at Simba's Cubhouse at AKL (they had a wonderful time too, and were disappointed when we came to pick them up!). We did California Grill for a "no kids" trip before that as well.

A good signature dining meal for two can be nice if you are in to dining.

I also like the suggestion about Blue Man Group. I haven't seen them at CityWalk, but I have seen them in Boston and have their traveling concert DVD.

We LOVED TuTu Tango - but it is more fun with a larger group. Great fun place to go though.
Maybe I see the parks as more romantic than they are, but I really enjoy being at a park (Epcot and MK are my favs at night) with the one I love. The lights and the sights and getting to go/do whatever we want. I think its way different than doing the parks with children. We don't have kids so my Dh and I get to be alone together at Disney a lot. We have taken our niece with us several times though so I do know the difference

Sleuth's is probably the biggest waste of money I know of...the food was pathetic and the show was dis-jointed, pointless, and lacked any substance and seemed to depend on the audience to carry it.

I don't recommend Sleuth's to anyone except my enemies.

I LOVE Blue Man Group. Saw them 2x in NY and once in Vegas. Even my husband who I can't get to go to a show to save my life, enjoyed them.

Bummer! Nothing really compares to La Nouba....

One thing DH & I really love to do alone is the Food & Wine Fest at Epcot. We do a couples only trip for that every year. You'll be there for the start of F&W.
Have you thought about taking her to Party for the Senses? I'd pick that over La Nouba any day & I do love Cirque! That's a really Big Deal, can't do anywhere else kind of experience. The food & wine are delicious, you get priority seating for the Eat to the Beat concert before hand - It looks like Big Bad Voodoo Daddy & Richard Marx are there during that timeframe.

If you don't want to spring for the Party (which is only on Sat nights) you could still see the concert together & then wander World Showcase, trying the different foods & wines at the booths. DH & I just love to do that. It's something you could do with the kids, but the kids usually don't enjoy it so much. And it's so much more enjoyable when you don't have kiddos tugging at you to go "ride something" ;)
