hi. i was looking for a good alternative ride to the kilimanjaro safari (not recommended for expectant mothers) since i hope to be pregnant when i go and cant afford to take any chances. is there anything that will be as exciting/satisfying? i was really looking forward to going on it. thanks in advance! (btw, we will be traveling with our 21 month old son, if that makes a difference) :earsboy: :earsgirl: :earboy2:

There are lots of animal viewing trails at The Animal Kingdom. You won't see the majority of Safari animals (such as Elephants and Giraffe) without going on KS, but there are plenty of other species of animals to see at AK.

Are you going to the park at opening? Almost everyone heads to the safari, so you can have the rest of the park to yourself. We went to the Dino section first and it was wonderful. You won't be doing the Dinosaur ride, but your son would like the Triceratops Spin, and there a wonderful area for digging in the sand.

We eventually went on the safari later that morning (someone gave us Fastpasses) and we weren't very impressed. We've been to a few zoos who have similar rides, including the Wilds here in Ohio. Kind of BTDT.

I agree, you will see plenty of animals on the Pangami Forest Exploration as well as the Maharajah Jungle Trek. You and your son will also enjoy Flights of Wonder, and don't forget to linger through the Oasis and see the birds and others species of animals. It is all quite beautiful!

What about going over to the Animal Kingdom Lodge? They have viewing areas and you could see giraffes and zebras plus talk one on one with someone from Africa since they are usually outside at Arusha Rock and are willing to answer any and all questions. Combine that with a meal at Boma and I'd be more than happy to go with you!
Have a great trip,
Mo
