We also just got back from staying at the CBR... were there from the 10th to 19th. We stayed in Martinique room 2545 which was the building we requested, and it was very nice. We had a courtyard view, but I would definately pay the extra money to have a water view of the lake next time-- something I never thought I'd care about. It was just so pretty! :)
Housekeeping was very nice, the main pool was always busy but never annoyingly so, and we loved the food court!
If anyone has any questions left, we'd be happy to try to answer them!

KaraJade, welcome back. I see you have also stayed at PO-FQ. How does CBR combare to PO-FQ? What are some likes and dislikes about both resorts? thanks,, corvair

I'd like to know too! I just booked FQ again and I am considering switching over to CBR so that we can try something new.

My family are considering upgrading to CBR from ASMo this fall. Is it worth upgrading. We loved ASSp last year when we stayed there. We will be there for 11 nights and DH does not want to change resorts during our stay (it would not bother me). I currently have AP rates for $54 a night and CBR would cost me $93 a night. Should I spend the extra and change?

We stayed at FQ in July and will be staying at CBR this July I too would be interested in your comparison of the two.

Comparing FQ and CBR:
I really liked FQ and would definately stay there again. We were looking for something different this year, as DF has stayed at FQ the past three years in a row. Love the atmosphere and especially being on the little river with the boat ride to DTD. One of my favorite things is the little walkway between FQ and Riverside, I thought that was very romantic.
That said, the themeing at CBR is my new favorite for moderates and value resorts, its really cute! Atmosphere and all the bright colors really makes this a nice place. all the different "islands" or whatever are situated around the little lake with sandy beaches. The pool is IMO about the same themeing wise as the one in FQ. The big pool draw here though, is, all the quiet pools they have around the different sections. That is something you don't need QUITE as much in FQ because its much smaller there. CBR is much bigger and spread out. We were staying about as close as you can get to the Food Court/ Main Pool area though, so we didn't use the quiet pools really. The rooms are a little bigger at CBR but not noticeably so. I just loved the colorful rainbow spreads compared to the kind of drab colors in FQ.
The really big thing I liked about CBR is the food court. MUCH improved on FQ. A lot more selection! If all you want out of the food court is a place to get a hamburger and sodas in your mug, FQ is absolutely fine. But if you're like us and come back for naps and such during the day, and eat at the resort a couple times during the week, the many options they have are nice and the food's not that bad either.
I really like both resorts and would go back to either one. I asked DF what he likes about the two of them comparatively, and his response was he likes the music that plays along the little pathways in the FQ :) lol

Wareagle: honestly, if it was me, I'd keep the AS ressie and save the money, because my DF always manages to talk me up into a moderate when I am trying to save money $$$ lol. However we went to the Poly this time and I fell in love with it, so now I'm trying to angle for a deluxe resort. I think you'll probably be plenty happy with the AS, and you can use the extra money for more food and souveniers. I haven't been to a value disney resort though, so I don't know. You might want to visit CBR while you are there, and your DH might see that he really does like it and want to stay there next time :D

I hope all of this helps and if I'm confusing you all even more let me know! :)

wareagle-hope you don't mind me butting in here, but wanted to give you my .02!

We stayed at CBR in Sept 2000 and at ASMo in Sept 2001--we got the great rate of $49/nite and decided to save some $$$. I really enjoyed CBR but since it was my first trip to ANY of the WDW resorts I didn't have anything to compare it to. Now I do.

Mainly I felt the difference is the room size was really apparent-the AS rooms feel more like a smaller hotel room like a red roof inn or something like that. The CBR room was much larger and easier to move about. Besides the obvious theming differences we also noticed-larger bathrooms at CBR & better soundproofing. At Movies we kept hearing everyone's toilet flushing at any time of the day.

The food court at CBR is nicer with a regular sit-down restaurant, AS resorts have regular food courts. The buses at CBR stop at a number of different bus stops throughout the resort. At AS resorts there is one main bus stop at the front of the hotel. Movies is picked up last and dropped off last-this means you might not get on a bus if it filled up at the previous 2 AS resorts.

Personally, I didn't think I would want to go back to the AS resorts-I just enjoyed the more relaxed atmosphere of CBR. However, the price was right and since we were there for almost 10 days that might have played a part in my nitpicking the resort-by the last day I felt the food court was just like my local mall-lol!

Good luck with your decision-you might just try it for yourself and see what you think!

I too have stayed at both and much prefer CBR. ASMO was very crowded last year when we were there in June, and with all of the concrete seemed very hot.

CbR was much less crowded (we went there for lunch one day), and with all of the foilage, much cooler.
