Alright already jetblue!! Say when!!!

Does anyone know if the prices will be at their cheapest on the release date? I am looking for April vac (3rd week) and AT is cheap but I would LOVE to fly JB if the price is comparable.
TIA!

Just remember, when you compare the prices you need to add that seat fee and luggage fee (both ways) to your AT price to get an accurate comparison. Of course the free TV on Jetblue is a selling point for us too. And the fact that on Jetblue you can get a credit if the price drops -- Airtran doesn't offer that perk.

Can anyone tell me about the seat fee with AirTran? I found a good rate but it says you can choose your seats for a small fee.........I am traveling with two kids, older but still want them sitting next to me, but I couldn't find out how much the seat fee was..........

It's either $6 or $8 per seat per flight. So, if you have a connecting flight, you have to pay the fee twice to get to your destination. It can get a little pricey. When we flew in June we decided to chance it and not pay the fee to pick seats. We made sure we got to the airport a little earlier than usual and they had no problem fixing the seats so that our whole family could be together.

You don't have to pay for each leg of a connecting flight. You pay once per flight and that covers any connections.
It's been $6 per flight.

If that's case then I was taken advantage of by the online system because when we just flew them in late June we had a connection in Atlanta. I was charged for each seat from boston to atlanta and then again for the second set of seats from atlanta to orlando. This is why we didn't end up picking seats for the return flights home. It was getting to be too expensive.

Jetblue is now out, and are outrageous for April! I wanted to thank you for you post, I went right over to the Airtran site and booked RT for 293.00 from Boston. We're going from Thursday to the following Friday of school vacation week. Good luck everyone!

Yes they are high right now. Mine fare is actually reasonable. I'm looking for a one way for March and it's $89. Not too bad. But the last time JB released fares they were high the first week and by the end of the week, my fare had dropped to $54, so I'll wait. It's not usual for the fares to sometimes be high until the first big sale. They only released 2 months and I was hoping for a mid May flight, but it looks like the fare only goes to the end of April, so more waiting for us. Of course anyone booking Easter week should hop on the best fare they can find. I do find that JB's fares are constantly going up and down and is why I track them with my Yapta account. Just this week I got a $30 credit for my October fare and I thought $74 was reasonable when I booked them, but got the credit when it dropped to $69. Good luck all.

Thank you everyone here for posting about the release of the fares!! Not a word from JetBlue but I got my notice from this thread!! My fare was $104.00 which was very good (4/27 after school vacaton week) and I'll have to wait for the return fare (May). I hope everyone gets what they want, JetBlue or other!!!

OMG the are outrageous! Almost $800 RT from White Plains the 3rd week of April. Just as much as Easter week, if not more. My hopes for a trip just went down the tubes!

holy crap....339 one way return to buffalo .... that is crazy.
I have been waiting or this??

I have heard people mention that if Jetblue lowers their rate, then you get the lower price? How does this work? Do you have to book a specific way to get that feature? TIA

When I go to their website March and April is still greyed out so I can't choose dates for April. What the heck :confused3 ??

I can pull the dates up but it won't let me enter more than one person. I am hoping there is a glitch and the fares will be more reasonable when they are done. I am probably dreaming though!!

If you purchase a ticket and notice the fare drops, you can call JB and they will credit your account with the difference. It's nice because I can buy tickets for the entire family and extended family and I get the entire credit in my account. The credit is generally good for 13 months after it's placed in your account. Just this week my Oct. $74 fare dropped to $69 (and Yapta let me know) and I called and got the credit of $30 applied to my trueblue account. You can continue to do this however many times necessary. The only issue is is that there has to be as many seats left. So if you bought 3 seats at $99 and the price drops to $59, but says 2 seats left at this price, you can not get the credit. It has to have the same amount of seats you have on your itinerary. This is why we 1) buy one way tickets; and 2) keep our group size small. We are 6 flying in October and I purchased 3 tickets under my account and 3 tickets under DH's account. THis way if the price drops for only 4 seats, at least one of us can get the credit! SW and JB are the only 2 carriers that let you get an adjust with no fees involved. Everytime I've called the rep has always been very friendly and accommodating (and I've called at least 20+ times this year alone).

They may still be tweaking their system. Try clicking on the link that says "flights" instead of search on the first screen. Then search on the other screen you get. Sometimes this works for me. I do see high fares, but will give them a week to get it worked out. The last release the fares were $99 from Dulles to MCO, but by the end of the week they had dropped to $54 and I quickly booked then.

I had this problem using Firefox (I'm on a Mac), but when I switched to Safari it worked. Maybe try a different browser if you have one?

When I first checked this morning around 5AM they didn't show up...but by 6AM they were up. However, Hubby works in RI, and he still can't bring up the extended dates. They must be having technical difficulties.

Good Luck!!!

...and we're booked!!! Woohoo!! :cool1:

(gonna have to pull the kids out a couple days B4 April vacation in order to save $$....bummer...oh well)

I am so happy for you that it all worked....Yeah!!

I ended up booking two direct flights from Roc to MCO for DS and DGF today since SYR direct flights were crazy expensive during March Break. Well over $300 US each way. I am super disappointed in JB. I love the airline but I won't pay their prices when other airlines have better deals. RIP JB. I am so glad that DH and I are retired and now can drive. Goodbye high airfares and rental car prices! Good Luck to everyone trying to find a deal for Ontario Spring Break.pixiedust: You will need lots of Pixie Dust!
