already second guessing my choice of room #

I booked our med cruise for next sept on opening day and picked the room (7594)

I thought it would be the perfect room--near the aft so close to the pools and food court

not above or below anything that could be alittle noiser--such as clubs, rest. or theatres

but now I looked in the passporter book and it looks like the room is right across from the laundry

Ive read the stateroom reports and while theres only a few on this room for the magic or wonder

the reports said the room is quite

any thought or advice on this room would be great

on the other hand weve had rooms which looked like they were directly across from the elevators

but since the elevators are in like there own little area the room was very quite

Sorry people will be using it. Some people will go late at night or early morning so they won't have to wait.

I agree people will be using the laundry room at all hours as the early and late hours are often when some people prefer to get it done. From my experience on the Magic for the 11 night sailing on deck 2 (which we weren't near but had to walk past it) it was pretty congested in that area and people do "mingle" in that area as they are waiting on washers or dryers to finish or checking to see if they are available. I think each location will have it's pros and cons and based on why you picked the location I think you have more pros than cons. I would likely keep the location you have unless you have another one you were thinking of that met your needs as well?

I would not worry about it too much but I understand you want the right cabin for your family

I have used the laundry room on every cruise and always made a mental note that I would not want a room in that neighborhood! Most of the time the doors are open and you hear the machines going and smell the soap. While generally a nice smell, I just prefer not being reminded of laundry every day on my way to my cabin. At some times there are plenty of people as well, so that can add congestion as well as noise. And then finally, while the laundry rooms are generally nicely kept, they are still a more utilitarian sight and I would prefer not seeing it.

Have you considered to try for 7094 the same room, but on the other side of the ship? I think on a Med cruise you might dock this or that way anyway, not like on a cruise to Castaway Cay where you know that one side will have the beach view.

Weve been across from the laundry room a couple of times. I honestly never gave it much thought. If people did laundry in the middle of the night I didnt hear them. I dont think you have to worry about that on a med cruise. People will be sleeping, and getting up early to tour not do laundry.

See, I don't think that logic will apply. A lot of people might have added on a pre- or post-cruise stay and in order to limit luggage might be counting on doing laundry. So , of course they would try to do it on the ship as it is relatively inexpensive on the ship and most European hotels don't have laundry facilities. Of course, the day the laundry will be very popular will be the sea day. The normal port days, I think you might be right that people will be too busy to spend a lot of time on laundry.

I think it can vary in every port depending on conditions and other ships being in port etc. On the Caribbean and Bahamas cruises the Disney ships kind of have their know location, but even there slight variations are possible. When we were in San Juan we were docked so that the starboard side looked out to the ship docked on the other side of the pier, but I have seen pictures of the Fantasy docked at the same pier where it was the other way around.

And then, some of the ports might not be that pretty to look at in the first place and most likely you will be off the ship for most of the time in port anyway.

Ive never picked my room on a cruise. Its low on my list of things to stress about. If your that stressed about it just switch rooms.

We stayed in this room for our 12 night Northern Europe cruise last summer. We LOVED the location of the room! The laundry is directly across from 7590, so it is a couple doors away. The laundry does get busy during long cruises, but we never, ever heard any noise from it. I really liked that I could just pop into the laundry to see if there was an empty washer rather than haul my heavy laundry bag down a long corridor only to find out they were all full. I did 5 or 6 loads of laundry during this cruise, so the location was perfect. The kids used the laundry to find our room, they knew when they saw it we were the 3rd door over. Also, everything was in good condition in the room and our stateroom host was fantastic! I would stay in this room again in a heartbeat!

Our rooms (7017/7019 on the Dream) back up to the Laundry.... I'm not happy about it, but I booked over the phone, and I didn't look the rooms up when she gave them to me.... not even sure if we can change rooms now.

thanks for all the different opinions on this room Ive made up my mind that Im going to switch--I always thought that when you were port side then youd have the view of the port--thus the name port side never thinking that the ship cant always pull in that way and like someone mentioned the ports sometimes arent always the nicest to look at--however last yr we were on RC to Europe and were port side and when we were in Noway we pulled in so our view was right next to the Akerhaust fortress--I think that was the name but that was cool

Is it makes you feel better, we hardly saw anyone doing laundry on the Deeam cruises. Usually too short to worry about it.

I know you already said you plan on moving, but I'll throw in another voice of praise for 7594 just in case anyone else is worried about rooms in that area. We were in that cabin on the Iceland / Norway trip last summer and loved it. It was very quiet, probably the quietest cabin we have ever had, actually. Not once did I hear any noise from the laundry and there really wasn't a lot of traffic in the halls. We've always stayed midship before and that was much noisier with lots of little feet running down the halls. From 7594 it was a quick trip up the stairs to the pool deck for food - very convenient. I would book that room again with absolutely no hesitation, what so ever.

I know you can't necessarily predict how the ship will enter a port, but if I'm recalling correctly, we always docked with a view of the port. I know we made a habit of relaxing on the balcony with a glass of wine right before sail away. Ahh, good times! The only one I can't recall was Kristiansand because we were in the spa at sail away, but I know all of the others we faced the dock. You're on a different itinerary, so I realize this doesn't necessarily apply to you, just throwing it out there.

Another vote for: the location is fine!

We were in 7598 on the Magic for our Med cruise and it was great to be able to throw in laundry and walk a few doors down to retrieve it. Your current cabin is down a bit from the actual laundry, so I wouldn't worry. We just booked for next summer in 7600 because we like that area of the ship so much. Love being aft. It's a good location!

Having said that, the other side of the ship in the same location is great, too!

its funny it seems after I pick a room I start second guessing things--the first veranda I picked then people started posting obstructed rooms--ours of course was on the list--at that point there was nothing else I could do so I measured the "obstruction" a whole 9 inches were lost do to the curve of the ship where the white wall goes down the side--this was on the fantasty loved that room!!!

also the elevators I was afraid we were dircetly across the hall--turns out the elevators are in there own hallway

in spite of all this I did change our room--7094 was already booked so I went to 7104--the cruise is still 18 months away so Ill keep checking

but thanks for all the replies--sure gave me alot to think about

oh to MSpeeler--did you check into changing your room--you never know

but besides all that Im sure youll have a great cruise
