Dh received a bonus from work today and he suggest we should get a second room at POR for our next trip as we are supposed to be 6 (Dh, me, triplet 6 yo and newborn) in total in the same room this August. Anyone who knows him, it's almost impossible that he suggested that as he would never get an extra room for extra space. He mentionned it was our 10th anniversary this year and it's the least he could do to make our vacation more enjoyable with our 4 kids since we can't be alone.

Does anyone know if Disney would extend the free dining to a second room and let us split our group in 2 ? we know that conecting rooms are not guaranteed but we are willing to take a chance.

As long as the resort is not sold out for your dates, it should not be an issue at all. You will still be one reservation and you can book up to 3 rooms under a FD code.

Also, we are a family of 6 with 4 kids and we always, at least once or twice for the last 8 years, have always booked 2 connecting rooms. We have never had this request denied and they do, infact, take into account the number of children in your party. If for some reason, like you are traveling during a very high crowd season, and you checked into your resort and they were "out" of connecting rooms, you can ask a manager to check availability at another moderate resort and tell them you need 2 connecting rooms. But, really, I wouldn't give it much thought, you should be fine.

Exactly what I wanted to hear but was affraid they wouldn't let me have a second room with the discount. Thank you!

Would they let you switch resorts to a Deluxe Villa with a small suite and keep the free dining? It's not too rooms but the cost of the small suite might be comparable in price to two rooms depending on the time of year and you would have a lot more room to spread out than in one room at POR. I changed my mind on resorts a couple of times last year and always kept my free dining when changing my reservation.

Depending on the season, 2 rooms at POR start at $318.00 per night. The OPs family can't fit in a 1 bedroom and the 2 bedroom villas start at about $600.00 per night. So, not even comparable in price.

I was thinking of a one bedroom villa and comparing it to about a $200/night rate per room at POL . .. so that was a bit more comparable, but yes still a bit more. If they were going to try and squeeze into one room at POR before, then a one bedroom villa would seem quite spacious. A two bedroom villa would definitely not be comparable in price as you noted.

That is, unless the one bedroom suites don't allow 5 and an infant like POR would.

The one bedroom villa's accomodate 4 plus an infant, so OP would have to have the 2 bedroom.

Also, depending on the season, 1 room at POR starts at $159.00 per night and the 1 bedroom Villas start at $435.00 per night.

Well, that settles that, I guess it is not an option. Sorry. Surprising that they allow more in a room at POR than a 1 bedroom suite. I thought I read that 1 bedroom villas slept 5 just like the trundle rooms at POR. (not including the infant)

As far as the math, I was trying to compare the cost of two rooms at POR vs. a one bedroom suite. So, $318 vs. $435 using your example. Not necessarily comparable, but also not in a completely different ballpark. I was assuming an upgrade from the orignial reservation and not considering the original one room booking at POR for the comparison. However, if they are not allowed 5 and an infant in a 1 bedroom, I guess it is not an option for the OP.

Good luck with whatever you plan now and have a great trip.

Actually, Animal Kingdom Villas and one or two of the other newer DVC resorts do have some one bedrooms that do sleep 5 - they have the extra pull-out sleeper chair, but those rooms start at about $515.00 per night. The villas are nice, but they are pricey.

We too are a family of triplets plus one....four kiddos!! Since becoming a family of 6 we have stayed at all star music family suite....just curios why none of you have mentioned that as an option? I'm wondering how much ,ore it would be if I booked two rooms at POR?? My favorite resort that I didn't think we'd be able to stay at again!?

As we discussed in the previous posts, 2 rooms at POR start at abaout $318.00 in value season and go up from there. We are also a family of 6, but we always get 2 connecting room at a value resort, usually All-Star Movies or Pop. We can get 2 connecting rooms at a value for about $164.00 per night, which is a good bit cheaper than the All-Star suites and we tend to rotate all of our annual trips around free dining promos so we don't need the kitchenet at the All-Star suites.
