Phew! I just read the 20+ pages that I missed since I've been gone! You guys are fast

I figured I'd answer some questions while it's fresh in my mind, and my trip report will follow soon!
This is so funny! Last April when we were there, I heard this every day. It wasn't very loud, but I definitely heard cars racing and I had no idea what it was. It definitely didn't take away from the peace and tranquility of the Poly! I saw the speedway from the bus this year and I realized what I had heard last year. This trip though, I didn't hear it once the whole week...although, we only spent one day outside by the pool. The other days were running to and from the GCH to avoid the cold/rain!
Have a great time,
BCV23!
When you get a chance to visit the Poly, can you swing by BouTiki to see if they have any new Polynesian Resort apparel? Thx!
I didn't see anything new in Boutiki...and even worse, I went in to get the coffee mug that I didn't buy last year, and they have zero Poly coffee mugs. Boutiki told me they had them upstairs, and when we went upstairs, they told me they had them downstairs!

So no Poly mug for me this year.
ok - i've been crunching the numbers & I think we may be able to swing TPV (since it will be value season when we go)....if I don't chicken out! What does everyone think is the best longhouse to request for a Theme Park View...and why?
I absolutely loved Tuvalu! I'll be posting some details soon to try to sway you away from Tahiti!
I booked TPV for the first time for the main purpose of watching Wishes from my room. Now I'm wondering what you do for the soundtrack? I am staying CL, and I've read that it is piped in to the lounge, but maybe I should just downgrade to GV-CL if I have to be out of my room to fully experience Wishes anyway?
Does anyone who has experience with TPV have any advice for hearing Wishes from your room?
From Tuvalu, we actually heard the music from the MK itself! The first night, I thought we must have hit the wind just right, but then we heard it every night as well. We could also hear the Dream along with Mickey show multiple times a day as well. We always knew when to look up to catch those daytime fireworks at the end of the show
I had actually bought the Wishes soundtrack though in preparation from the WDW merchandise number and uploaded it on my Ipod. I was prepared to play it from the Ipod while watching the fireworks, but never had to use it
I think I read somewhere that on the TV they have the music to Wishes.....
This is done at the Contemporary Resort
What the Flagnard?!!!
We have stayed in the Poly for years, every year, and have NEVER seen this. Are you sure this isn't some photoshop hoax? hehe
I laughed so hard at this because in three years, I had never noticed the coffee/pastry place at the TTC either. This year, while walking over, I smelled the pastries and was looking around and there it was. pure heaven
Ah, the whistles ... I love all of the sounds of the lagoon (including the EWP i_heart_the_mouse!)
ditto...nothing like the horns and whistles! I set my camcorder out on the balcony multiple times a day and just let it go so I have a few hours worth of scenery and MK noises I can plug into my TV and dream about whenever I'm missing the Poly!
so what's the deal with the AK and DHS bus service? lots of bad reviews -- full buses, long wait times.
Is it actually wiser to walk to the TTC and get a bus there? Or does that have problems of its own?
Any veteran input appreciated....
G
We didn't use the bus to either, but when we were waiting for the DTD bus, the people at the bus stop were complaining that they had been waiting over 40 mins for the DHS bus. When we arrived at the bus stop, they told us the DTD bus had just left, so it would prob be awhile for the next one, and then another appeared five mins later and we jumped on and were on our way. My DTD bus experience last year was horrendous, but this year, they picked us up and we headed directly there and were there in about 20 mins tops. I was worried about the way back, but we waited about five mins, the bus arrived, and we did the DTD loop and were on our way, stopped only at the CR and we were back at the Poly within a half hour. Not bad for DTD!
The tiki torch lighting ceremony is one of those little Disney touches that make the Poly so much fun! I didn't expect much, and was really impressed with what I saw. There was a fire-dancer there, and he did a little show before lighting the torches. Fun!
I second this! "fireguy", as my DD fondly calls him, was awesome as is the woman who introduces him and sings/plays the drums while he performs. We saw this ceremony twice, and would have three times but our last night it rained and they cancelled it. This is a do-not-miss at the Poly!
Not sure if any of you regulars to the Polynesian noted this somewhere in this thread, but I noticed they were playing a different resort music loop when there in Feb. When I was there in Mar of '09, they were playing the old one and then of course this Nov/Dec '09, it was the holiday one. I heard that old music loop so many times that I always wished they would add something new, but now that it is gone, I want it back. I miss those Polynesian tunes!
They played the same music last week that I heard April of last year...
Well, I'm going to start my TR now. Stay tuned...I've never really done one and am hoping to add a dining link if I can figure it out
