Hi johnsonet!:flower3: I
I have a story about a wonderful Polynesian CM. Thursday night was really cold. I went to my car about 6:45 on Friday to go over to SSR to check in for the THV. There was thick frost on my windshield. Rental cars in FL do not have scrapers in them:rotfl: so I was using a plastic card to scrape when along came Emma. She asked if I needed help and preceded to use a card of her own to clear the other side. I know by the direction she took when we finished that she was leaving work. What a kind thing to do after a long night's work. Thanks for the magic, Emma!:wizard:

This is why we enjoy going to WDW and why we love to stay at the Poly.

Hi johnsonet!:flower3: I enjoyed the music as always and really wondered if I had somehow missed that one song over the years. I guess I must be sort of oblivious. We didn't use the pools at all though so our experience was like Susie's.

I didn't hear the speedway last week. Just heard about the free ride along last night. I hope my DH gets a chance to do it this week.

What a nice story, BCV23 :wizard:
FROST in WDW? Noooooo :headache:

I'll be interested to hear it again in Nov. It was so windy when we were there in Feb, that it was hard to hear. Plus it was cold, and I didn't have as much pool time as I normally do. Also, the speedway seemed to be very busy and loud. Rarely has it been noticeable in all our stays at the Poly. I jokingly wondered, if it had to do with the free rides they were giving to AP holders.

what in the heck is the speedway? :scared1:

Hi guys, I'm back! :sad1:

I'll have a full report later for you! Had a great week, but really icky weather. We got Tuvalu longhouse, and it was amazing!!! Worth every penny!

I'll post again after five this afternoon.

Talk later, hope everyone is well :)

I miss the Poly, we cried the day before we left because we didn't want to leave! :sad2:

THAT is near the poly????????? :scared1::scared1::scared1::scared1::scared1:

and you can hear the cars racing when you are outside??????

I've stayed at the Poly at least 7 times and never heard it or even thought about it. But, yes, it's there, next to the MK parking lots and across the way from the Poly.

Aww... welcome home. I'm sorry you had to leave
Hope your DD loved her Poly surprise and that mom had a wonderful vacation too :cutie: Sorry about the weather. I don't like being at WDW when it's cold. But - hey - you were at the Poly

Can't wait to hear more!

I heard something about breakfast sliders at captain cooks??? Tell me more my wife is driving me crazy!! Are the burgers?

jk, I have stayed at the Poly 12 times, and this Feb was the first time the speedway noise was really noticeable to me. I was lounging at the pool at the time. Otherwise, I don't think it even would have been noticeable. It was quite windy during my week too, so maybe the sound was carried on the wind. I definitely wouldn't let my comment distract you from staying there. Personally, I'd return, even if I heard it every time. Nothing beats the location, grounds and feel of the Polynesian in my opinion. How I wish I was there now!

Does anyone have a list of trip reports for the Poly. We are going in June and I was looking for my pic fix of the day :) I can't seem to find them super easily and I remember someone posting some one day. Thanks for any help :)

Well, I just started mine the other day from our stay in February! I haven't made it too far past our arrival at the Poly, but please feel free to check it out (link in my siggie)! I love having readers!!!

I bet you're right and that it was the wind. PLUS, with the severe cold, maybe most of the surrounding trees have lost their leaves & it made a big difference :confused3

melham Here are some pics for your "fix" ;)

Welcome back!!! Can't wait to read your trip post. :wizard: I am so excited you got the Tuvalu longhouse. Now you know why I love the lagoon/TPV there so much. :cloud9: So sorry to hear about the weather.

Isn't it such a sad feeling leaving the Poly? I know I take it harder than DD10 does. :lmao:

Okay...... I'll settle down now.... I just freaked out for a second.. ...

btw- I grew up in Kennebunk ME......;)

Same is true for the monorail and ferry to the MK. They will not work for EMH. Last I knew they didn't start until 8:30.

So how do you recommend getting to MK for 8:05 AM Crystal Palace reservations?

We will be driving to AK for our ressies at Tuskar House but obviously that would not make sense for MK. I "assumed" the resort monorail starts runing at 7:30 AM. Otherwise how do people get to CP for early ressies?

Phew! I just read the 20+ pages that I missed since I've been gone! You guys are fast :) I figured I'd answer some questions while it's fresh in my mind, and my trip report will follow soon!

This is so funny! Last April when we were there, I heard this every day. It wasn't very loud, but I definitely heard cars racing and I had no idea what it was. It definitely didn't take away from the peace and tranquility of the Poly! I saw the speedway from the bus this year and I realized what I had heard last year. This trip though, I didn't hear it once the whole week...although, we only spent one day outside by the pool. The other days were running to and from the GCH to avoid the cold/rain!

Have a great time, BCV23! :dance3:

When you get a chance to visit the Poly, can you swing by BouTiki to see if they have any new Polynesian Resort apparel? Thx! :goodvibes

I didn't see anything new in Boutiki...and even worse, I went in to get the coffee mug that I didn't buy last year, and they have zero Poly coffee mugs. Boutiki told me they had them upstairs, and when we went upstairs, they told me they had them downstairs! :rotfl2: So no Poly mug for me this year.

ok - i've been crunching the numbers & I think we may be able to swing TPV (since it will be value season when we go)....if I don't chicken out! What does everyone think is the best longhouse to request for a Theme Park View...and why?

I absolutely loved Tuvalu! I'll be posting some details soon to try to sway you away from Tahiti! ;)

I booked TPV for the first time for the main purpose of watching Wishes from my room. Now I'm wondering what you do for the soundtrack? I am staying CL, and I've read that it is piped in to the lounge, but maybe I should just downgrade to GV-CL if I have to be out of my room to fully experience Wishes anyway?

Does anyone who has experience with TPV have any advice for hearing Wishes from your room?

From Tuvalu, we actually heard the music from the MK itself! The first night, I thought we must have hit the wind just right, but then we heard it every night as well. We could also hear the Dream along with Mickey show multiple times a day as well. We always knew when to look up to catch those daytime fireworks at the end of the show :)
I had actually bought the Wishes soundtrack though in preparation from the WDW merchandise number and uploaded it on my Ipod. I was prepared to play it from the Ipod while watching the fireworks, but never had to use it :goodvibes
I think I read somewhere that on the TV they have the music to Wishes.....

This is done at the Contemporary Resort :)

What the Flagnard?!!!

We have stayed in the Poly for years, every year, and have NEVER seen this. Are you sure this isn't some photoshop hoax? hehe

I laughed so hard at this because in three years, I had never noticed the coffee/pastry place at the TTC either. This year, while walking over, I smelled the pastries and was looking around and there it was. pure heaven :)

Ah, the whistles ... I love all of the sounds of the lagoon (including the EWP i_heart_the_mouse!)

ditto...nothing like the horns and whistles! I set my camcorder out on the balcony multiple times a day and just let it go so I have a few hours worth of scenery and MK noises I can plug into my TV and dream about whenever I'm missing the Poly! :thumbsup2

so what's the deal with the AK and DHS bus service? lots of bad reviews -- full buses, long wait times.

Is it actually wiser to walk to the TTC and get a bus there? Or does that have problems of its own?

Any veteran input appreciated....

G
We didn't use the bus to either, but when we were waiting for the DTD bus, the people at the bus stop were complaining that they had been waiting over 40 mins for the DHS bus. When we arrived at the bus stop, they told us the DTD bus had just left, so it would prob be awhile for the next one, and then another appeared five mins later and we jumped on and were on our way. My DTD bus experience last year was horrendous, but this year, they picked us up and we headed directly there and were there in about 20 mins tops. I was worried about the way back, but we waited about five mins, the bus arrived, and we did the DTD loop and were on our way, stopped only at the CR and we were back at the Poly within a half hour. Not bad for DTD! :yay:

The tiki torch lighting ceremony is one of those little Disney touches that make the Poly so much fun! I didn't expect much, and was really impressed with what I saw. There was a fire-dancer there, and he did a little show before lighting the torches. Fun!:goodvibes

I second this! "fireguy", as my DD fondly calls him, was awesome as is the woman who introduces him and sings/plays the drums while he performs. We saw this ceremony twice, and would have three times but our last night it rained and they cancelled it. This is a do-not-miss at the Poly!

Not sure if any of you regulars to the Polynesian noted this somewhere in this thread, but I noticed they were playing a different resort music loop when there in Feb. When I was there in Mar of '09, they were playing the old one and then of course this Nov/Dec '09, it was the holiday one. I heard that old music loop so many times that I always wished they would add something new, but now that it is gone, I want it back. I miss those Polynesian tunes! :)

They played the same music last week that I heard April of last year...

Well, I'm going to start my TR now. Stay tuned...I've never really done one and am hoping to add a dining link if I can figure it out :)

We just got back yesterday and we had an 8:05 ressie at the CRT. We got on the monorail at 7:25 and were out front of the gate of MK by 7:40ish. They let us into the park by 7:45 to walk to breakfast. I was up early every morning and had a view of the monorail from our room and it was running around the resort loop by 7:00am every morning. Many of the MK restaurants start bfast at 7:30am so the monorail would have to be running early enough to get people to that early ressie :) :thumbsup2
