You must be going about the same time we are. We arrive on December 9.

Have a GREAT time!!

Yes, we arrive on Dec. 12th & can't wait for it to get here. This is my first time staying at Poly & i'm totally excited. Hope you have a great ime as well.

Here are some pics for you.....the not so beautiful areas! :lmao:

The Poly Laundry room. :laundy:

I pack light so laundry has become a necessary evil. I did a few loads this past trip. One day it took me exactly an hour. I dropped the load in the washer, waked to the GHC and got a beverage. Took some resort pics as a took a slow walk back. Put the clothing in the dryer. Walked back to Hawaii, collected DH and DD who were snacking in the lounge.

We strolled over to the laudry room. Folded the clean clothing, walked back to Hawaii and dropped the clean clothes in the room and went on with our evening :thumbsup2

Take note...

$2 to wash
$2 to Dry
$1 for detergent via vending machine

The dryers on the right (double stacked) when you walk in the room stink and take forever to dry a load.

On the other hand....

The other dryers get very hot so they will scorch your clothes if you let them run too long. I dried some things for a bit and then hung them on hangers to dry in our bathroom. They were dry by the next morning!

Bottom line, keep and eye on the clothes as they dry:thumbsup2

We were there last year around the same time. It was fabulous! Have a wonderful time! :santa:

Here is some of my TR Dec 2008 TR It starts with post 51!

28 days & counting. I can't wait any longer. Does anyone know what the 3rd floor lounge is like? Do you still have to go to the main lounge on 1st floor to get drinks?Food? Just trying to figure out what the best floor is to stay on.

The lounge is all joined together - 2nd and 3rd floor - with steps connecting them. The food is on the 2nd floor, the 3rd floor is just a small sitting area with a TV and a bathroom.

The 1st floor is the lobby where you check in and where the staff sits.

vicki is correct ::yes:: I'd like to add that the bathroom up on the third floor of the lounge is very big, and is a great place for changing (for example) out of your bathing suit on the last day of your trip if you've already checked out of your room because as some might not know, you will have access to the lounge until midnight of the day you check out. And unless they've changed this recently, there are nice fluffy towels in that bathroom, too. :) Also, there are board games in the seating area of the 3rd floor lounge.

Hope this helps. :sunny:

Thanks for the bathroom tip - I haven't been in that bathroom, although my kids have been in there a zillion times (see, I'm a planner -- they are, well, kids)! Good tip to remember for check-out day if I'm ever able to stay CL again!

Just need to post because I'm leaving in 10 days! woo hoo!

OOHH!! Me too, Me too!! We are arriving on Friday, 11/27 and having dreams about the Poly and so much more.... :)

I will see both of your there!!! Also arriving on the 27th until the 5th (late flight). However, I would be doing a much better happy dance if everyone at home was healthy! DH just getting over the flue, DD(13) ditto to DH, DD(3) a UTI and myself a virtigo problem that has led to a back to back sinus problem (fighting a fever today). This has been non-stop illnesses for 4 weeks now and I AM DONE! (Sorry for the ranting and raving....while dances of the Poly dance in my head....)

This whole family needs some RNR, but at least everyone (minus DH) have gotten their seasonal and H1N1 shots, so we should be good. Either way...I'm leaving for WDW and the Poly in -12 days!!!!:santa::sick::santa::sick::santa:

The pictures are helping me be in my happy place!

With luck, everyone was just getting all the bugs out of their systems so you have an illness-free trip!

Update on slide. Kids initially disappointed but they still used the two pools. Unfortunately our planned pool days weren't the best weather. Temps past week 40-80+. That's November for you. We cut short Epcot day Sat b/c it was great weather. DH and DSs hopped on a shuttle (pontoon boat at beach right in front of Volcano Pool) and used GF slide. They said it was super fast. Workers on Poly pool slide unobtrusive. Entire pool open and accessible. We looked on the bright side, you get a "free pontoon boat ride". They cannot say when it will reopen except for end of Nov. I would guess this week or next by the look of things.

Well, I may see you there! We arrive mid day on the 29th and leave mid day on the 5th. Celebrating 38 years of sometimes wedded bliss!:rotfl2:
Never stayed at the Poly, but DH loves CR and I love the WL so we bought DVC at BLT!:lmao: This will probably be our only stay at the Poly because of that. So ready to go. have parts of my bag packed already. Only 11 days to go! (ticker never changed from us leaving on the 30th)

For those of you who might be missing Poly's Likiloi juice I found this tip on the cooking thread. Try Minute Maid Orange Passionfruit Guava. It comes as a frozen concentrate. I had some yesterday and it's pretty close! :thumbsup2

I'm trying to pinpoint a GV room request, and am looking at Tokelau or Tahiti. A quick question... Do the second floor rooms at Tokelau have a real balcony or are they the faux type? I'm so psyched for our upcoming first stay at the Poly, but a room without a balcony or patio would be a downer.

Tokelau does not have a balcony on the second floor but Tahiti does.

I've also been able to find it in a half gallon container in the past. I'm not a fan of the juice :scared1:...too sweet for me. But it is close. I think you have to be at the Polynesian for it to truly taste best.:rotfl:

Tokelau and Tahiti have balconies on the second floor. Have a great trip!

We have stayed at the Poly before and wanted to try another Deluxe on the monorail so we decided to stay 3 nights at CR and 3 nights at Poly...
11/9-11/12 - CR Club Level MK view - Had a few issues at check in as we booked a MK view but they had us down for a Bay Lake view:confused:. Since the club level concierge wasn't able to accomodate what we reserved, I asked to speak with a Manager. I explained what we booked, that we confirmed this with IPO a week prior to arrival and had an e-mail from IPO stating we had a MK view. The Manager did resolve this for us and we got our MK view:yay:. This was our first time staying club level and we did take advantage of the lounge each day for breakfast and the mid afternoon and late night snacks. We watched Wishes from our room, which was great. :tink: We ate at the Contempo Cafe one night and it was very good. I had the Turkey BLT, recommended by some fellow Dis'ers and was not disappointed.
11/12-11/15 - Garden View at Poly. At check in was told we would be in Tokelau. My 1st choice was Samoa since we had stayed in Tokelau last time. The front desk did a check and they were able to put us in a 1st floor room at Samoa facing the Volcano pool. This was exactly what I wanted!:cheer2:. I loved being able to run back and forth between the pool and our room each time the kids needed something (goggles, snack etc). We had dinner for the first time at O'hana's and this was very good too. I didn't care much for the steak, turkey or pork (a bit chewy for me) but the shrimp, pot stickers, rice and sticky chicken wings were terrific!
All in all, I liked the garden view Poly better than club level CR. While the CR was nice, it just didn't have that 'resort' feel like the Poly does. Also, CR is a convention hotel and IMO you can tell. It felt cold and sterile to me (for ex: the pool activities seemed forced vs the activities at the Poly were a blast).
That is just my opinion. I'm glad I had the opportunity to try both. That's the great thing about Disney - there is a resort for everyone's taste. :rainbow:

Is turndown service just available at CL or can anyone request it? What is the price if anyone can do it? Do they put chocolates on the pillows?:cloud9:

Thank you for the Pixie dust....we need it. This seems to happen before EVERY trip. The good news is that we are usually all healthy for the trip or the Florida sun knocks it out of us finally.

With luck, everyone was just getting all the bugs out of their systems so you have an illness-free trip!

Thanks and I truly hope so. DS(10) is the only healthy one and I'm hoping for no last minute or trip surprises.

We enjoy our resort time, so I see a lot of lounge, pool and beach time on this trip. If you see a tall blonde man with a wife giving him nasty looks to remove his backend from the bar stool - you will have found us. We will be celebrating 15 years of wedded bliss. I have found out through 15 years of wedded bliss that I will always love him, but I don't always have to like him (by the way ditto for him).:rotfl2::banana::rotfl2:

I hope to run into you and some of my other DIS friends!

The service is available to anyone at the deluxe resort level, by request. It is probably best to request it each day of your stay. DIS posters have mentioned that when they request it for the length of stay, the service is hit or miss. Chocolates are part of the turndown service.
