Aloha! ***Welcome to the NEW Poly FAQ***

These photos are killing me too! I'm back in planning mode, but the fam wants to try BLT next trip. I do too, but as ever, the Poly calls... sigh. I hear that music and feel those nubby pathways under my feet just looking at photos. I'm gonna have to figure out how to spend as much time there as possible.

That's easy. If you're doing all the planning ... 'Ohana breakfast, 'Ohana dinner, Kona breakfast, Kona dinner, Spirit of Aloha ... oh, and a CS meal at CC so you can get dole whips. No one can argue about dole whips! :thumbsup2

:thanks::thanks::thanks:

Those pics are incredible! I have picture envy

They truly capture how beautiful the Poly is :goodvibes

Thanks for sharing. I want more!!!

Thanks for more lovely pics Sara. Of course you know you're making a lot of us miserable right?! :rotfl:
I especially like the first one. Just beautiful!

I usually set the radio on the alarm clock between stations for a little static-y white noise when the kids are in hotels. Can I do that with the alarm clock at th tune Poly? Will the iHome thingy allow me to tune between stations to get to the static?

I've been following this thread and it's sister thread over on the photo forum for the last few weeks. Wow! Y'all are making me so anxious to get to the Poly.

Here's my story...
We have been to WDW 13 times since 2000 on family vacations. DW and I have always wanted to go for one trip without the kids. We love 'em to pieces, but sometimes it just would be nice to try WDW without them, ya know. ;) We've stayed at every moderate, almost every value, but never at a deluxe resort.

I am going to surprise DW with a mid-January 2010 trip. I plan to give it to her as a Christmas present (along with a new digital camera with which to take pics). This afternoon I hope to make everything final with my TA at AAA. We'll stay at the Poly for four nights, enjoy the DDP (which we've never had before), and just do whatever we want for 5 days and 4 nights.

I was leaning heavily toward WL, which we have always thought would be a great resort. I'm still sure it is. But there is something about the breath-taking pictures that I have seen here that make me know with all my heart that the Poly would be the perfect place for us. She's going to be amazed at the tropical flora, the decor, the large beautiful rooms, and the general feel of the place. We've visited the Poly only once before, and it was at night so we didn't get a good idea for how great it appears to be.

I've been secretly working hard these last few weeks to take care of details. Grandparents available to watch the kids -check. Reservations at the kennel for dogs to be boarded -check. Both of our work schedules clear -check. Extracurricular obligations cleared -check. Now I just have to make the final arrangements with the TA. How on earth am I going to keep this a secret until Christmas??!!

I'll be haunting this thread often, I am sure. There are still ADRs to be made, and touring plans to handle. Thanks so much to all of you for the wonderful pictures and accounts of your stays at the Poly. One poster (Sammy?) describes a trip she made with here DH that sounds just like what I dream about for me and DW.

Oh how nice! You will have a wonderful time! My husband and I took our first-ever "kid free" trip in May and had a wonderful time (with the exception of some foot trouble). You can read about it in my trip report in my siggie if you like! It's a great resort for a romantic couples trip! Have fun and good luck keeping it a secret! :thumbsup2

That sounds so wonderful!!! pixiedust:

What a great husband you are! I suggest having your must do's taken care of and then let the rest flow. What I mean is make ADR's at your favorite places or hard to get places. Have a plan to get your fav attractions but otherwise just plan on relaxing and enjoying all the Poly and it's proximity to everything has to offer :thumbsup2

Happy planning and remember to update us after you unveil the surprise :goodvibes

I also want to thank you for putting together this thread and bringing back all the wonderful photo's to share. I have ALWAYS wanted to stay at the Poly but it just was never in the budget. This year we are just doing it. We saved and I have the whole trip paid off- including the deluxe dining. Now we can just go and enjoy! I found out yesterday that my job is being eliminated at the end of the year, so this trip is going to be my big kick off to my new life.... Being a stay at home Mom to my 2 year old and 5 Year old!! I am really excited!

Congratulations!! I ended up becoming a stay at home mom when my company was bought out and moved to another state. Best thing that ever happened! They're only little once!

We leave in 2 days and the baby woke up with a fever this morning! Doctor says it's just a virus. He's napping right now and will hopefully wake up magically cured!

Fireworks in the daytime. Where they rehearsing for something? Really cool pic though.

The daytime fireworks are from the show in front of the castle. The show takes place periodically throughout the day.

Oh - I'm hoping he's better soon. Mine get random fevers all the time. Hopefully it's just something like that.

Thanks for the TR in your sig. :thumbsup2

Good husband... that's probably up for debate, but I do have my moments. :goodvibes As far as going with the flow, that's our typical style anyway -which is yet another reason I think the Poly will be perfect for us. It would seem to encourage that sort of attitude.
I'm not even too choosy about ADRs. DW loves 50's PTC, so that's priority #1. I would really like to try Le Cellier, and that's #2. After that I'm ultra-flexible.

29 days & counting, I'm so excited. This is the first time we will be staying at the Polynesian & will also be staying in Hawaii with a lagoon view. I want to stay on the first floor & was wondering if anyone could recommend a room number with a nice unobstructed view of the castle. Please help. :worship:

Zippa -- what an awesome Christmas gift! Your wife will be thrilled and I'm sure you will have the most wonderful time. The Poly is good for romance, I think!

My husband and I just did our first kid-free Disney trip in 2008, since our honeymoon in 1996! We only went for 2 nights during Food and Wine and it was still great and we can't wait to do it again!
