Aloha! ***Welcome to the NEW Poly FAQ***

I think it varies during the year. I know in December it was at 3:15 most days of the week. You should be able to catch it at some point during your stay.

Maybe someone who is there now or just came back has their Island Palm Press which lists the resort activities.

Thanks BreezysMom.............I hope you're right that we can catch those dance lessons at some point during our vacation.

We always stop by the Poly during our non-Poly stays. I always check out the store for Poly specific items. In July they had new shirts, mugs, some drink glasses, and navy blue sport items for ladies with different embroidered logos from a year ago. We have been to WDW 7 times in the last 12 months and it wasn't until last trip I saw some new items. Our next Poly stay will be over NYE (Dec. 26 - Jan. 4) Hopefully I will see new items but probably not.

Just booked Poly CL for next July 4th. (yeah, I know, crazy crowded, but the 4th is my birthday and it's the big 4-0 so I want to celebrate big time!)
We're trying to decide if the dining plan is something we want to add. Do most of you CL-goers add it? I know CL isn't meant to replace meals. We plan on breakfasting there daily and snacking while we are at the pool a few times. I admit I'm looking forward to evening cordials.

Just back from 1st WDW and 1st Poly stay. Everything was absolutely wonderful! I was just so happy to finally go to Disney that any little thing that may not have been perfect, I didn't even care or notice and if I did, I didn't let it bother me. I just wanted to have a good time with my family and not nit-pick about every little thing. ("Where The World Like A Loose Garment" goes a long way ; D)

The Dis really helped me prepare for this trip & I couldn't have done it w/o all of you! THANKS SO MUCH!!! My expectations were in check and therefore no dissapointment for me. In fact, upon arrival Barbie who was working Concierge told us we had a Lagoon View CL (we only booked CL GV) so I was ecstatic. She asked us what floor we were hoping for & I said I didn't have a preference. 3rd floor is what we got along with THEE most amazing view of the 7 Seas Lagoon, GF, CR, etc. I would finally go to bed around midnight, sneak a peek or two during the night at the color-changing castle and get out of bed around 5:00 a.m. just to watch the Magic Kingdom "wake-up". I'm still getting goose bumps.

Anyhow, I've been busy downloading/uploading pics but just wanted to share how wonderful we thought the Poly was and would not hesitate recommending or going back to this beautiful resort. (and we loved BC just as much) Ahhhhh, to be in love!!!:lovestruc

You'll LOVE IT! If/when I do CL again, I personally wouldn't do the DP. I'd grab breakfast in the lounge have a TS at a favorite spot for lunch around 1:00ish and then have some app's/desserts in the lounge later in the afternoon/evening. It just depends on what kind of an eater you are. Club offerings are fairly light, so you'll prob have to supplement somewhere.

Thanks--I am thinking the same thing. We do plan on eating in MK for 2 meals on the 4th (once we get in, we're not leaving until the fireworks arre over) plus I want to have a dinner at Ohana and a breakfast at Kona. I like to take advantage of resort restaurants where we stay.

Wow, what a great thread!! We will be checking in at the Poly in exactly 22 days, 16 hours....:rotfl::rotfl:

This is our 8th trip and our 20th wedding anniversary (we stayed at the poly for our Honeymoon), and as we have returned to Disney, we have never stayed anywhere else...I think we are hooked...

and my teenage daughter wants us to look at WL, she wants to stay there next time, BUT i know I'd have withdrawal...the things I would miss...the first walk into GCH....the coffee...the early morning walks around the grounds and beach as the sun rises....the coffee.....Kona!!!!.....coffee....the monorail and boat launch!!....coffee....the torches lit....:love:

yum....I can not wait.....there is just something magical about this resort...princess:

I love buying resort specific merch. Anyone who just got back....any new/neat Poly stuff? Shirts? Hats? Mugs?

I was there in March and last week, and I didn't notice anything new. I did pick up one of the older keychains for $2. I wish they had more resort merch.

Glad you loved it! Thanks for being my would-be Fairy Godmother while you were there. Hope you get to stay there again!!

Well, I'm playing around with a spring break trip since the 4/3 came out again, but I know we'll be back next December, and I think we're going to have to book the Poly. I wanted to try all the deluxes, but every time we visit, I wish we were at the Poly. I LOVE the Epcot area resorts, and this time we could literally throw a rock and hit the International Gateway, but I love the feel of the Poly. My grandparents are dying to stay at Wilderness Lodge, so we might get a room at each (otherwise we're booking a suite), or we'll do a split stay, but it's time for me to spend some time at home (literally, I'm Samoan!). :cutie::laughing:

Barbie is just wonderful! I make it a point to locate her whenever we stay at the Poly.

ITA! Barbie was stellar in helping me with last-minute ressies and other Concierge requests. :thumbsup2

And on another note, just wanted to say 'hey' on the new thread. No Poly trip until 2011 as DD10 wants to stay at the Grand Floridian on our next trip.:goodvibes

I'm checking into a weekend at the Poly. I know that the first weekend is busy because of the taping of the parade, but what about the second?
Anybody booked then who knows of an event?

Pop Warner is the week of Dec 6 -12. Crowds during the day aren't bad at the parks since they are in competition during the day. Most of them stay at one of the value resorts.

Anyone?

Can anyone tell me what the cribs are like at the Poly? I was considering shipping down my son's Pack n' Play, but it would be a lot easier not to!

Are they regular pack n plays, or are they cribs? Any pictures?

Thanks so much. :goodvibes

I have seen actual cribs delivered to the rooms at the Poly. :goodvibes They're the white metal ones and they do the job so if you don't want to haul the Pack N Play from home (I had to do that once--never again) the cribs will suffice.

The only resort I've seen Pack N Plays provided in the room already is at the AKL.

Hope that helps! :thumbsup2

Same here. We did quite a bit of visiting the resort in June and was very dissapointed that there wasn't more resort merchandise. The coffee mugs and screen-printed shirts are okay but I want more, you know? I'd love it if they had some Tiki masks/artwork to purchase.

My DD10 pleaded with me that we stay at the Grand Floridian next December but let me tell you, I am going to be seriously missing the Poly. :guilty: I love staying there, the sights, the smells (Smells like the GCH anyone?) the torches, swimming with Cinderella's castle in view at the volcano pool. The whole place just says 'Disney' to me.

I told DD one day we're going to visit the South Pacific for real. :goodvibes

Personally, I think Tahiti is a little farther away from the GCH and the Volcano pool than I would want to be, but it is right on the beach, so that's a plus. And close to the TTC if you're going to walk there to catch the monorail.

Friends of mine had a room in Tuvalu (not sure if TPV or LV but they had a great view of the castle so I'm thinking TPV) and said that was a great location.

I was thinking this as well. After looking at the resort map Tahiti is kind of out there but then again we like quite. Plus we don't mind walking and the grounds at the Poly look so lovely and being that close to TTC is a definite plus. We always stay at the GF so by the time we take the monorail to TTC is a good 25 minutes. Sometimes a bit longer depending on monorail traffic. Thanks so much for your input. It helps a lot.:hippie:

We stayed in Tahiti TPV Sept 23-28 of this year. I really, really liked the location:

plusses:

Very, very close proximity to TTC-walking to the ttc was always easier than walking to the GCH

You feel pretty away from the rush of the main areas of the resort-it is quiet and peaceful

Beautiful views of MK, CR, Wishes! :goodvibes and a nice beach right outside the building that is rarely used at all.

The building is bigger: the hallways are much wider and the room are bigger (right?)

Your plusses are right up our alley. Our lives are so hectic that the peace and quite is what we are looking for. Love the idea of the quite beach while watching wishes.

minuses:

About as far as you can get from the GCH. If you don't mind the walk it's not that bad but not as convenient to pop over for a bite or something else.

Further walk from the main pool, but the walk is along the beach so it's not that bad. But once we left the lifejacket in the room and had to walk all the way back so that seemed like a hike.

You might have some noise from the TTC ferry. The boat horns do blow frequently and I could hear the loudspeaker announcements from the boat from my balcony.

The beach in front of Tahiti does not pipe in Wishes music. Only the main beach by the pool does that.

The minuses are not bad at all. We love to walk so that won't be too bad. For some reason I love the boat horns. Don't know why. We always stay at the GF and when they took away the howling of the warewolf at the Haunted Mansion I was very upset as this to me was Disney.

Mousekeeping was spotty while we were there but when I called my request was brought over immediately. However, one day we returned from a full day at parks with the beds unmade. :confused3

Hope this helps. It was a wonderful trip. The only problem we had (besides the minor housekeeping issue) was the bus service to AK and DHS. Waited over 30 minutes each time while full buses came and went without picking anyone up. Very, very poor treatment of the deluxe guests imo. With the add'l $$$$$$ paid for those rooms the bus service should be stepped up a bit. But, on the bright side, I left my room one morning and was inside MK 16 minutes later! Can't beat that!

I do agree about the busses to AK and DHS. Staying at the GF the busses were always packed so we always take a taxi. I am so glad to hear that you had a wonderful trip. Me and DH are not Poly fans but our DS is we want to surprise as he wants to stay there so bad. After reading some not very good reports about the Poly it's nice to read some good ones. This makes me feel a lot better about staying there. We won't know until we give it a try. Thanks again for your help.:flower3:

Amen, sister. The kids LOVE Stormalong Bay, so we stayed at BC during the last part of our trip last month/this month, but I would have loved to be at the Poly. There's so much at the other resorts we'd love to experience, but you just can never get over your first love. ;):laughing:

I stayed at the Poly with my sister and my cousin September 12 – 20 (yes, I’m a bit late on the review ), and overall we had a great stay! This was our first stay at the Poly.

I had requested a room in Tokelau based on the reviews/ tips I had read and our desire to be close to the TTC. When we checked in at about noon on Saturday, September 12th, our request was granted and our room was ready. We entered the room, which overlooked the garden toward the TTC (not the quiet pool), and the view was lovely. The room also seemed great, but upon further inspection, it was dirty and there was a tiny dead spider in one of the beds. :scared1: (Lots more detail is in our TR, here)

We requested to move, and after a few frustrating phone calls down to the front desk, we went down ourselves, and were given a new room assignment on the first floor of Tahiti. This room was fantastic! :thumbsup2 This room, as well as the one we’d moved from in Tokelau, seemed huge! We’ve stayed at the GF on our past couple of trips, and these rooms seemed much bigger to us (maybe because the bathroom space is smaller?).

Speaking of the bathroom, we loved that the room in Tahiti had 2 sinks and a large vanity. With three women sharing one room, you need all the counter space you can get! We would have preferred if the vanity area had been outside of the shower/ toilet area like it is at the GF to maximize the time we all had at the sinks, but it ended up working out fine for us.

We absolutely loved the location of our room. Tahiti is about as far a walk as you can get from the GCH, volcano pool, and resort boat launch, but we didn’t feel like the walk to any of these was bad. The grounds at the Poly are so beautiful that it was no bother at all! We were less than a 2 minute walk from the TTC, and taking the monorails, ferry, and buses from there was a breeze. This was absolutely the best transportation we’ve had (to non-MK parks) on any of our trips. Transportation to and from the MK was another story – the resort launch stopped running quite early after park closing, and did not run during evening EMH. The express monorail and ferry to the TTC also stopped running during evening EMH, so the resort monorail was our (and tons of other guests’) only option – needless to say it took forever and was packed! :crowded: Basically any trip back from the MK was very frustrating. But that wasn’t the Poly’s fault – and at least we were able to get off the monorail at the TTC and be back in our room in two minutes!

We loved the pools – we spent time at the volcano pool and the quiet pool on a few afternoons, and neither was ever crowded – there were lots of seats available. We weren’t brave enough to try the volcano slide, but it sure looked like fun!

We ate at ‘Ohana twice, and the line to check in was insane both times, but we were sat almost immediately each time, and enjoyed two fantastic dinners. I also tried my first lapu lapu – wow, I had fun that night!

We had in-room dining one night (when we had to cancel a reservation and couldn’t get in anywhere else due to free dining), and I think it was the best decision we made the whole trip! The food was delicious, and it was so easy!

I watched Wishes from the beach outside of Tahiti one night, and the fireworks looked great from that angle – they really lined up nicely behind the castle – but the music isn’t piped in. I watched another night from the beach in front of the volcano pool, where the music is piped in, and it was fantastic! Much less stressful (and therefore more enjoyable for me) than watching from the MK.

The grounds of the Poly are beautiful, and the atmosphere is just so relaxing. I would love to stay again, but it would probably have to be in an MK view room next time (after seeing how great Wishes was from the beach)!

I have tons of pictures of the Poly (our room, the grounds, GCH, restaurants) in my TR, so if you're interested, click on over and say hi! I'm also happy to answer any questions about our trip!
