Monorail hotel question

Currently staying at OKW. Can we Uber and head to the contemporary hotel to see the fireworks we would like to also head to one of the bars before and order some bar food if possible is this allowed?? If allowed do I show my DVC a card or show our room key?

No. If you don't have a dining reservation there, and you aren't staying at Contemporary or BLT, they'll turn you away. Maybe take a bus to the Magic Kingdom, and from there, it is either a short walk or resort monorail ride to the Contemporary.

I think that an Uber could take you to the TTC, but the resort monorail goes all the way around Poly, GF, MK, and then Contemporary when starting at the TTC.

You can also use a Minnie Van to get there if cost isn’t a concern. Safer too.

You might have to be let off before the security booth and then walk in, but I don’t see it as a problem. (Not sure how it works with Uber at resorts if not staying there.)

There is a fireworks viewing area off the 4th floor concourse. You could get some food and bring it outside. Maybe go early in order to get a seat out there. Going back, order a Minnie Van. We just stayed there a few months ago and DS and his party did this to go back to their resort after watching the fireworks with us. They came right up to the entrance.

Nope. Disney doesn’t allow you to be let out outside the security station and then walk through for safety reasons. If you don’t have an ADR and aren’t a resort guest you aren’t officially allowed in, sometimes a guard will still allow it but other times they won’t and then you’re stuck in a strangers car diverting to TTC and watching your rideshare rating go down the drain. If you take a Minnie Van you can be dropped anywhere including CR without an ADR.

Of note, anyone can be picked up by a rideshare at CR.

OP to be on the safe side, have them drop you off at TTC, take the bus to MK, or just do the MV.

You could always try going through the booth and circle back if they turn the rideshare away.

We have taken Lyfts multiple times from resort to resort without a problem. Our last trip ww had burgers at Steakhouse 71 and then took a LYFT to Port Orleans French Quarter for a few sets at The Scat Cat Club. Then a Lyft back to BWV.

Probably easiest to take a bus to MK and walk over. If you’re DVC, you have access to the lounge at Bay Lake Tower for fireworks, correct?

I’ve taken Lyft a couple of times from hotel to hotel. At the security gate I just tell them I’m a DVC member and going for dinner (even if we didn’t have a reservation and were just heading to a bar or quick service). I guess it is hit or miss.

It definitely is…I have seen people turned away at resorts, especially at RiViera.

I asked the guard why the car in front could not go in and he confirmed it was because they didn’t have a reservation at all.

It was even asked at the board meeting about this…can’t remember which resort and being DVC alone does not give you access to the resorts via car.

Easiest to just have the uber drop you off on World Drive and just walk the last 100 yards.

TOTWL is available to DVC members unless there is an event going on, like the paid Villains events. You'll want to check on that ahead of time. TOTWL has a very limited food menu. The Outer Rim bar in the main concourse of the Contemporary is open to you, but they don't serve food. Steakhouse 71 has a nice bar that you can usually get into. The bar at the California Grill is also available, although often at capacity and they won't let you go up in the elevator if it is. I can't say that either Steakhouse 71 or California Grill serves "typical bar food", although both have appetizers that you might consider "typical bar food adjacent".

I have seen ride shares drop people off and pick people up on limited access highways, aka Interstate Highways like I-95 etc.

I've seen rideshare drivers drop people off at the path between BLT and the MK on World Drive. It's not uncommon, nor unsafe, since there is a traffic light and sidewalks there.

My sense is Disney is getting more and more strict about not allowing guests to enter the gates of their resorts via car unless they have a reservation to be there. Of course, arriving via Disney transportation is always an option.

But there is no place for the car to stop without blocking traffic.
