Are all you Poly lovers out there looking for a great deal???

I hope everyone had a great Turkey day! :dance3:

We had a wonderful, quiet holiday just the three of us. Sometimes the worst circumstances tend to blossom into something quite nice. H1N1 flu quarantine saved us from the commute, the chaos of family and the mass of dirty dishes that I always seem to end up doing at my parents :confused3

We did do lots of talking about our trip this summer! So it was a great day indeed! :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

I guess the Holiday season can OFFICIALLY start! :santa:

It's been very lonely here with all of my friends to the south in turkey-induced comas. Glad so see someone back on the boards!
Happy to hear that you had a nice Thanksgiving BreezysMom. Sometimes those holidays held under adverse conditions become the fondest memories.

Breezysmom, that sounds like a wonderful day! I don't know if I've ever had a holiday without some extended family, but it would be nice to try it once.

We had 25 for dinner yedsterday and after cooking for that many, I am ready for our celebration at the Poly. We leave Sunday!

Aloha!
I am so looking forward to our next trip. This time the whole family (9 total) will be going. I got an excellent PIN code for 40% off! It saved enough to pay for everyone's flight and the stupid luggage fee. I can't wait to go. I pray we have good weather that 9 days. My 8yr old uses Oxygen and my parents are both in their mid 60s with health issues. I am also happy we are all saying in 3 different rooms at the Poly! I just love that place.

I have 2 lagoon view club level rooms reserved for the first week in Feb. 2010. I was wondering how much more it would cost to get a 2 bedroom suite instead of 2 rooms. Does the buy 4 get 3 apply to suites also?

First of all... :welcome: to you and all the new posters on the thread!

My initial answer is No but I would call and ask? Disney is doing some goofy things these days you you never know. It never hurts to ask!! :thumbsup2

Robeck - I don't know about the 4 for 3 on the suites. I do know that I couldn't apply my AAA discount to a suite at the AKL - I assume the same policy holds true for other resorts. We have two CL lagoon view rooms booked for next December - it was cheaper to book two rooms than a suite. We were able to apply the AAA discount to the CL rooms. I don't know if that is an option for you or not. Still hoping for a pin or something to bring down the price a bit, but at least we have something!

I have a Lagoon view CL room booked for next July and I just noticed on the Disney website that they now have a 'Theme Park view CL' booking category at the Poly. I thought all the Lagoon view CL rooms looked out towards the MK. This will be our first stay at the Poly so I'm not sure what the difference would be in the views.

Hi Poly lovers! :hippie:

As I continue to research my upcoming trip (MLK week-end; GV), I really can't choose which longhouse would be my first choice. They all seem so nice for so many various reasons! I am thinking of not making a request and just seeing what happens when we get there. From what I can tell at this point, the only room assignment that would disappoint me would be Rapa Nui parking lot view. Even if we had to settle for a 2nd floor room I'd be OK if not exactly thrilled.

Am I correct in assuming it would be simple enough to re-assign my room if when we arrive we are given Rapa Nui parking lot view? It will be mid-afternoon when we arrive.

I like the idea of not even making a request and just see what luck brings our way, but I don't want to spend our magical getaway looking at asphalt, dumpsters, and paint.

Advice?

Zippa -- I hear there's really not many/any rooms that actually see the parking lot -- instead they see the monorail line and vegetation, so your chances of a really bad view are pretty small, I think.

But anyway -- I wouldn't make the assumption that they would be able to move your room -- they might, they might not. MLK weekend is actually pretty crowded - not like Christmas or anything, but more than the rest of January, so it's possible they wouldn't have somewhere better to move you.

Overall -- I wouldn't worry about it too much.

There is now a separate and more expensive category of room in CL -- theme park view. That is new for 2010. So you can now book theme park view, lagoon view or garden view. All the lagoon views will look towards the MK -- but some of the views may be obstructed with trees, so I guess that's why they have changed it.

All of the CL LV and TPV rooms are on the same side of the Hawaii building and face in the same direction (north). All have views of the beach, GF, CR, lagoon, EWP, Wishes, and at least parts of the MK. TPV guarantees an unobstructed view of the castle. LV rooms may have a view that is slightly obstructed, say, by a large palm tree or a particularly tall tree on the island out in the lagoon, that MIGHT be in your line of sight to the castle.

I agree with vicki c. Even the views that face the parking lot in Rapa Nui can be quite lovely. I've never heard of anyone complain of asphalt and dumpsters in their view at all. There are some views in the more centrally located buildings that bother people more, and you have to watch what you wish for...I like your idea of leaving it to chance. Good luck!:wizard:

Great explanation and I would add (in my most jaded, cynical voice), it is merely another way to jack more $$ from your wallet for an already pricey view. Most of the views from the LV side of Hawaii are perfectly fine. Disney is attempting to gain more profit by hawking the rooms that are considered "perfect" views of the castle. . .we discussed this quite a few pages back if you were interested in other's opinions on the recent room category addition. ;)

Hi everyone! I just booked my first trip to the Polynesian! I received a 40% off code and thought I'd splurge. Thanks for all of the great info. :goodvibes

We're heading to Poly in a few weeks. I was wondering if the 2nd and 3rd floors in the longhouses are accessible via elevators or only by stairs? I'm taking my 2.5 yo DD with me and I don't want to have to navigate stairs if she's asleep in the stroller.

Thanks

No worries about the stroller, but I know lots of families with little kids do request 1st floor.
Thanks
There are elevators in every longhouse except, I think, Niue, but you can actually access the 2nd floor of Niue via the elevator in Rarotonga, then walk across an outside deck between the 2 buildings. Niue is also the only longhouse with a 3rd floor.

I think you meant WITHOUT a 3rd floor? Never been in Niue but since most of the rest have 3 floors, I assume that's what you meant?
