Just booked the Poly for our DD's 6th B'day in May. I got the 40% PIN code:cool1: The last time we stayed there was for our oldest DD B'day...in 1998!:scared1: I'm so excited.. We are going Dec. 28/09-Jan 8/2010, but staying offsite, so can't wait to be back at the Poly:banana:

I took this picture in the Poly while waiting to be seated for the character breakfast at Ohana. I suspect this same photo has been taken thousands of times over.

At the Poly now having a great time. The weather is a little chilly but compared to home its still heaven. The staff has been great and helpful, I'm in the Tahiti Blg. So if anyone has questions let me know.

I can't offer any insight on the room view issue, since our first Poly stay is still a couple months off, but the DxDDP isn't so much about the quantity of food IMO. It is more about a difference in the type of food, at least for my family.

With the standard DDP we had plenty to eat, so much that we didn't really feel right with adding OOP TS meals because we knew it would mean CS credits would end up wasted. So that meant not doing character breakfasts because we're light eaters in the morning and didn't feel it was a good use of our TS for the day, not doing signature dinners because they're such a poor use of credits, eating CS we real don't enjoy because it is included, etc.

On the deluxe plan, we still eat 2 meals per day, usually a character breakfast or TS lunch followed by a signature dinner or a show, order room service on our resort/free day, booking CRT or Brown Derby rather than a less appealing one credit alternative, using snacks without regard to number or value, etc. The main advantage of the deluxe plan is flexibility - we can make the plan fit our dining preferences, rather than adjusting our preferences to fit the basic plan.

I guess I wasn't just talking about quantity when I talked about the regular DDP being enough for us. We had dinners at the Coral Reef, Teppan Edo, The SOADS (using 2 TS credits) and on "date night" split up and went to different places--Marrakesh, San Angel Inn & LaCellier. I think we made good choices and had wonderful times and great meals. I just don't need sit down breakfasts, lunches & dinners every day. We kinda thought it would take up a lot of time, too.

Will I be slammed on this thread if I say our stay at the Poly was just so so?

We're all pretty nice here, so I don't think you'd be slammed, but we'd all be perplexed  since WE all think it is the greatest! I've never stayed at another WDW resort and never really WANT to.

Of coure not!

The one thing I have seen about the Poly is that there are people that LOVE  it so much and then people come back and say they don't get it :confused3 It is all good. :goodvibes

I hope even though you did not fall head over heels for the Poly you still had a great vacation :wizard:

We would still love to hear about your trip! :surfweb:

Hi
Jan 2009 was our first trip to DW. We had never traveled anywhere and planned this trip for 8 months and went at it like it might be our only trip ever. We stayed at Tahiti (3rd floor last room closest to TTC MK view) .
We also did the Deluxe dining plan. Our stay was for 10 nights and was perfect. It cost us a pile of money but was worth every penny. We are now hooked on DW and have planned our Jan 2009 trip. Things I have changed are 1) we are going garden view this time. the MK view was perfect but not needed. we had more fun sitting on the beach watching the fireworks. 2)we are not buying a food plan. Last year we ate at 3 dinner shows 3 character meals and the rest were signature restaurants. Too much food for anyone.
We were running everyday to make our reservations. Too much time was spent on eating and getting to the restaurants. We were glad we did it once but will probably not do those 2 things again. As far as the poly goes, we can't imagine staying anywhere else. This trip we want to spend more time at the resort just enjoying it for what it is. My wife feels the same way I do about the above. 89 days to our next trip.

Welcome! :welcome::welcome:

My family is in the same boat as you. We had a wonderful experience doing the dining plan and all the character meals but now we want to relax and enjoy without the schedule :cloud9: Except we chose the GV Club level. This way we can have a quick bite to eat in the morning and snacks and drinks as our leisure. It will nice to have the Club Level CMs to help us with last minute dining ADRs if we need them.

While I think the TPV, or LV as it is classified in Hawaii, is magical I just could not pull the trigger on upgrading.

Happy planning for your next trip! :cheer2:

I had to come do my single digit dance...:dance3::yay::cheer2::cool1:

I have to say that this trip is so different. I am not checking the weather every minute, it is nice not wondering what Longhouse I will be placed and I really am not too worried if I forget to pack something. :rolleyes1

That being said, I could change my tune at any moment :lmao:

How about my other fellow travelers leaving soon...how are things going??

This was our experience when we went last December. I'm glad we did as much as we did, but this time around, we're going to relax a good bit more. We're the opposite for eating, though - we tend to do big breakfasts and dinner is light. We're staying CL as well and I think we'll probably have a few sit down meals for breakfast but otherwise just snack here and there.

Oh and congrats on the single digit dance, BreezysMom!

we checked in this past Thur. Oct. 15, but due to a family illness we had to leave the next day:sad:

we missed the MNNSHP on Thur. and Sun.. yes, we were able to get a full refund for the tickets.:)

our room was in the Tokelau bldg GV. our room faced the quiet pool and had the castle view on our right! It was amazing!! did get to see the Hallowishes fireworks perfectly. (room 3948).
I did get a couple of pics. will try to get them up when I figure out how....LOL

I have stayed at all the Allstars, GF, CS and offsite a few times.
we do like the condos offsite for the room and full kitchen, but for our shorter trips I will be booking the POLY!princess:

I'm so sorry you had to leave early. I'm glad you enjoyed the time you had (and that you got refunded your tickets).

honestly i think i am more nervous...this swine flu thing has got me all frazzled. I know its rampant in FL..and I am nervous for my children...I was so happy to go and now I wonder if I should postpone it..although i won't do that ..my kids would be disappointed.

Kona Coffee question here, can you get it in Captain Cook's to go?

Why oh why do you forsake me code fairies?

My aunt just got a code for the exact time we are going to WDW, good at deluxe resorts. I have gotten two codes in the past 3 months, neither of which are good for when we will be there.

This will be the first time I will be staying at the Poly since I was 8 years old and my husband's first time ever. Can't wait.

But come on code fairies.... a little love please?:littleangel:
