ALOHA! The Polynesian Resort Information Thread: Summer 2011 Edition!

I thought someone mentioned in the last thread that room service will deliver the pressed pots of Kona coffee as well. I even think they got to order ahead, specify a time and it showed up as requested.

NICE! I'd like to know more about this and maybe how much a pot of Kona coffee would cost delivered.

Ok, what is the name of that fantastic drink that you sip out of the pineapple? where at the poly do I get one and how much cash should I plan on plunking down for one of those babies! I NEED one of those and must get one my first night there!

Lapus lapus. :cool1: Served at Tambu Lounge and Kona Cafe...I'm sure 'Ohana, too, but no personal experience there. Sorry can't remember the price. Cab they be ordered at the pool bar?

The Polynesian also has wonderful Mai Tais. So much better than the standard ones served at WDW.

Mine does the same for me (I call him dh). He knows I literally cannot pick my head up off the pillow without a caffeine infusion, he's so good that way. And he's an early riser - so thankful for him......:lovestruc

Us too!!! I love when the luggage tags arrive! Hope to see you in the volcano pool!!!

ooh the volcano pool....although with our weather it would be the volcano hot tub! :rotfl: We'll be the family with the boy and girl arguing over who cannonballs better and the 16 year old just texting the whole time! :rotfl2:

Hey BCV--long time no see. Lapu Lapus can be ordered at the pool bar, BUT not in the pineapple. They are served in the standard issue plastic cup.

According to all information I have the press pot is about $8. So if you factor in the mark-up, it might be $15 :rotfl:

The Polynesian doesnt make "special" cakes. You would have to order one from the GF or the CR. Private dining number at the bottom is you want something other than what is listed here. Here is cake info:

Polynesian Resort* — 407-827-2253

6-inch $21 chocolate cake with chocolate buttercream or vanilla cake with vanilla buttercream
8-inch $32, same options
10-inch $45 vanilla, chocolate or marble cake; filling is white or dark chocolate mousse, vanilla or chocolate buttercream, or custard with strawberries; frosting is vanilla or chocolate buttercream or whipped cream
Mickey Mouse Cake $48 (serves 12): Vanilla or chocolate Mickey head-shaped cake with chocolate mousse filling, covered in chocolate ganache; only customization is writing on plate
Fancy, fondant-covered cakes start at $75 and may be ordered by calling Private Dining at the Grand Floridian: 407-824-1951

And yes... Ohana too... you can pretty much get it anywhere at the Poly! :thumbsup2

Thank you, we had a flat tire in the first three hrs, changed to full spare, then went to tire shop close by and bought new tire because for one we needed extra tire and second I wasn't about to pull up at the POLY with a spare with no rim on my car...We also stopped off at USS Alabama, my son loved it, then had a nice dinner and are near Tallahassee. Started out a little rough, then fun, car games and annoying one another, now getting quiet. Weather was fine, sunny with intermittent rain . Check-in tomorrow!:thumbsup2

Sorry about your flat tire :headache:. But I hope today has been much better now that your at the Poly

I think it would be great if they had Kerig brewers in each room, its so conveinent just pop in pod and no mess.I also have a question for recent guests returning from vacations:confused3 .Do you still get to hear all the beautiful music as you stroll the grounds ?I love walking around and hearing that and smelling all the gorgeous flowers there:cloud9:

Also, does anyone know the number to call for a special cake to be made????

Just to add to what princssdisnygina said, cakes for the Poly come from the GF bakery (as confirmed by cake master Chef Brian from the CR - he makes FANASTIC cakes from the pictures I've seen!) You could not call the CR bakery yourself & have a cake delivered to the Poly. You could, however, order from them if you are dining at one of the CR restaurants and have it delivered to your meal.

That being said, I have also seen some beautiful work from the GF bakery too. If you check out this thread there is lots of info and pictures.

There is a cake gallery index on the first page and somewhere there is a link to a more accurate & current FAQ than those on the first page (eg. they say Poly guests can order from CR, which isn't true unless you're dining there, like I mentioned). I am planning on order a cake for DH for our upcoming anniversary trip, so I have been reading up! :thumbsup2

Be forwarded, some of the custom cakes get really expensive!

Ok thank you all!!! I have already been in contact w Brian b/c we were originally at the CR so I can continue to talk to him :goodvibes: We ordered one at the AKL last time we were there..... it was like a giant Zebra Dome it was OMG Yummie!!!! I want to get a Mad Hatter cake so its going to be like $150-$300 but my DHs worth it ;)

I got mine at the Tambu Lounge! Yummo! I think it cost $13.25, but after traveling over 1000 miles to get one, it was worth every penny

Not sure how much the cost is, but wanted to add a tip that we use....dh & I are BIG coffee drinkers so we always pack at least a lb of ground coffee from home. Each room at the poly has a coffee maker and they will supply you with the coffee filter, so you are all set to go. We make at least 3-4 pots a day this way & we enjoy our "real" coffee. With the amount of coffee we drink our bill at Kona cafe would be more than the bill for our trip :rotfl:

:lmao: You can also buy whole bean coffee at Kona and I believe they can grind it for you as well. Maybe logpey can double check for us if she happens to pass by there. :lovestruc

Do you plan on dining at CR, because they can't deliver your cake to the Poly.

Yeap! We are eating at Chef Mickey the night of our arrival :cool1:
