We requested Samoa for the end of march. Any idea if Samoa is supposed to be refurbished at this time? Also can someone tell me if anything else is scheduled for closure for the very end of march.

Samoa's Reno started early February. I read somewhere that they are estimating 2 months(can someone confirm or correct me).

You've got the sliding door answer and I have stayed in Tokelau in a corner room and loved it! We have stayed ground floor on the garden (non-pool) side on both corners but lagoon side was definitely the best! It was by chance. I've never requested a specific room since that's pretty difficult but I request Tokelau ground floor.

Thank you!

You are correct. I think they've had Hawaii blocked out from the beginning of January until early-mid March. There's probably a bit of a cushion in there, so 2 months seems to be what they're aiming for. Hawaii is also having the lounge redone, so it may take longer than the others to do.

This is amazing - I came on this thread specifically to find out about the reno schedule for Hawaii (planning an August trip) and it's right here! I love the Dis!!

Are there pictures anywhere of the renovated rooms - or is no one able to stay there at all yet? I would love to see the re-done lounge as well. I did see some pictures on Tikiman's website, but I wasn't sure if they were definite or not.

So excited to be going back to the Poly!! :cool1:

No pictures yet, though we're all anxiously waiting! :hyper:
Tikiman was looking on his FB page for someone staying in Hawaii in the near future so he could get pics. I think there is someone who's in mid-March, so hopefully he'll have some in a few weeks!

Well, I know I'll be haunting this thread now! ;) And Tikiman's site...

We've only ever stayed CL for 3-4 days - I'm trying to figure out if we can swing a whole week this year. Hoping for a discount code, but not sure if that'll come to pass...

Staying at the Poly (GV CL) for the first time ever in June and we can't wait!!! Enjoying all of your posts and information!

Hi all - I was taking a look that the allears.net menu for captain cooks. I happened to notice the kids menu and I am confused about the kids choices. First let me say that although my kids eat healthy, they are not the most adventurous eaters. We last went in 2011 and we ate there a ton - but now I am not seeing so much that my kids would eat on the kids menu. Were there changes? All I see now is Chicken and Pineapple Skewer, Sweet and Sour Chicken Stir Fry, Seasonal Fish. Are there no basic choices. Basic sandwich, etc.?

We were there in December and my kids had chicken nuggets, fries, hamburgers, jello, etc. :)

Just checked in! Got our Fiji patio room we requested. We'd initially had beachside. They nicely changed us to marina view. Pool is open. Stoke level is about a 10.

Just back today from a 6 night stay. We requested a first floor Rarotonga room, and mentioned how much we had enjoyed 1812 last year. (By a very politely written fax ;) We were put in 1813! So perfect! The volcano pool was open, and Hawaii and Samoa under refurb. We were never affected by noise. My dh got an unexpected tour of the sample renovated Rarotonga room directly across the hall from us. He didn't take pictures :( he reports the changes were nothing fancy, but a nice, fresh update. Double sinks, green walls, and there was a swatch of sample carpet in our hall in a green/brown tone. The sample room had no room number on the door, if anyone is on site and wants to find it. Dh just asked if he could peek. Captain Cooks definitely has hamburgers, chicken tenders, and 1 other kid item in addition to fancier options. Well back to mourning my departure.

Hope your trip is fantastic. Would love to see pics of your patio on the Marina side, we are planning on requesting Fiji first floor too and I am thinking of requesting Luau Cove side but still not sure :confused3

Thanks for the help. Were those included in the kids dining plan?

While Allears has some of the best, updated WDW menus, I have noticed that they do not always list every option. For instance, at Captain Cooks, you have your choice of several side items and they can also be purchased separately (french fries, polynesian chips, fruit, veg, jello, etc). As for the kids' meals, they are on the dining plan and they do have typical kids' fare. My DD's favorite is the kids grilled cheese. I get the grown up grilled cheese and we also get the tomato soup - it's great! And if you want a dole whip for dessert, no problem. They give you a plastic cup to fill and we just wait until we are done with our lunch to fill it up so it hasn't melted during our meal :thumbsup2

Laundry?

Do they sell soap in one of the resort stores? DD needs dye/scent free. Would like to not have to fly with a Tupperware of white powder in my suitcase...

Not sure, I still haven't done laundry there in 4 Poly trips!! But "all" does make their "free and clear" in those individual drop-in pods. I usually pack those when we go to the beach in a condo.

Yes they do, but I don't think any of the options are dye/scent free. I remember Tide and Downy fabric sheets, but there is only one other option and I'm sorry but I can't remember. I did the all-in-one sheets which was much easier traveling with, but no sure if they make them in a dye/scent free. I would bring whatever specialty item you need and not hope for it there. Enjoy - we LOVE the POLY!

I just had to come by one more time quickly and celebrate my 1,000th Post! Even though we are cheating on the Poly this year (:sad2: Sorry Poly) I do consider this my home resort.

This group of wonderful people have been so friendly and helpful in all of the years of trips behind us. We will be stopping by in June for a cocktail with Tim the bartender!
