I am sooo excited! DH just told me last week to book a trip to the Poly (and WDW, lol) for October! I have already booked the hotel at the airport, paid for our flight, and made the deposit on the reservation, before he could change his mind. Now I can get on here again without it hurting my heart! 189 days until I am eating a dole whip with my toes in the sand watching Wishes...and hallowishes! Guess I better get to making a new ticker. :)

Congrats!!! I love planning our trips :)

Our 1st Poly stay is coming up August 15-24th....so stinkin excited!!! Thinking about requesting Samoa VP side 3rd floor....if not than Tokelau 3rd floor....can't wait!!! What longhouse is your favorite and why?

How exciting! You will love it! We loved Tokelau and will request it again. It was central to everything. And we requested 3rd floor but ended up with patio, which we loved, because we were close to the beach and could sit on the patio drinking coffee while the kids ran around and played. We will request that again, too.

Frequent Poly visitors, do you find that you spend more time at the MK and EP due to the monorail access to those parks? Oddly enough, this is something I'm very excited about.

We usually stick to MK, Epcot, and DHS and probably do them about an equal amount of time (with AK only thrown in once in a while). We tend to spend alot of time at the resort relaxing and enjoying the pool as we find the Poly the best resort to do that :cloud9:.

Can anyone or everyone please tell me what would be the best longhouse to stay in? THANKS

We loved Samoa :). It's convenient to everything as it's just steps from the GCH, the volcano pool, the beach, and Captain Cooks.

Cannot wait to walk through that door and hear "Aloha" :thumbsup2

That's one of my favorite things about the Poly :goodvibes. Have a great trip.

Samoa would be my first request as that's our favorite......it's convenient to everything ::yes::.

Hi Poly fans! Does anyone know if the walking path between the Poly and Grand Floridian is still open during the DVC construction?

This is the longhouse I requested!! So glad to hear when others have stayed there :)

Of course my trip is in JULY, so the chances of me actually getting what I requested I'm sure are pretty slim :rotfl:

Those are the parks we like so it makes more sense for us to stay at the poly. I am the girl you see walking super quick out of Epcot after illuminations to be on the 1st or 2nd monorail back to the ttc and then we watch wishes.

Yeah me too!!! Lots to do this week. And really hoping the weather turns. Right now the forecasts include lots of clouds. This pale CT girl needs some sunlight!

I just came back from Florida and it is freezing here. We drove to ft. Myers and it was beautiful . Upper 80s but a constant breeze where my sister lives. We stopped in DtD Friday night and I told my Dh the next time we are back here it will be an oven and we will be sweating.

We did an overnight in Jacksonville and when we started driving the next am it was brrr....50. And it was tht same temp back home!

We are planning a late September trip and was thinking we would split our stay and stay a couple days at the Beach Club. We love the Beach Club, but have never stayed at the Poly and it looks so awesome. I figured maybe we would try the Poly next year, until I heard that some possible major DVC construction could start at some point.

I really want to experience the Poly the way it is now. What are my chances that there will be no (or little) DVC construction going on in late September?

Thanks to the summer discount we are finally going to be able to stay at the Poly again! :cool1: DH and I will celebrate our 15th anniversary, and we aren't bringing the kids! :cloud9::love: Right now I'm debating MK view vs. Garden view. Is it worth the money if we aren't planning to be in our room during Wishes???

Thanks for your opinions :thumbsup2

We have always done a GV. We always request Samoa (only once did we not get it out of the past 4 stays). It's just a quick walk to the beach and the kids want to run around anyways or even watch from the main pool. It was just never worth the money to us because we never spend a lot of time in our room and when we are there the drapes are usually closed.

We are Poly lovers trying the BC this year! We just finished a major construction project and have a few smaller ones going on right now at work. I do NOT want to see it on vacation this year ( as minimal as they are keeping it). However we will visit and stroll around a little bit!!! Love this resort!

We are doing the same thing!!! We do love BC, but I have always wanted to give Poly a try and was thrilled that we chose this year instead of next to do so ;)

Now all I do is think about how much I'm going to enjoy that beautiful resort.............and I'm hoping my DH and DD will love it so much that we will continue to stay there in the future.

I usually don't weigh in too much on room views and club vs. no club, but I have to encourage you to do the MK view! Yes! It is worth it, especially if you know you'll watch wishes from your room one night. And waking up to that view is really special too. :thumbsup2

We get garden view as well. We don't watch wishes from our room. The only night that would be questionable is the night we get in. But I am ok walking out to the beach to see it.

Happy anniversary! I was so glad a discount came out but the discount I got is slightly better. I keep doing the math and was ready to call the rptravel agent to have her run the numbers but I just did it.

Just curious about Garden View....when I spoke to the CM making our reservations I asked for a garden view room. She said there were only Standard View rooms..........GV was reserved for CL?

Is this the case? Or are there really GV rooms for non CL guests?

We have always stayed TPV. Admittedly it is quite a bit more expensive, but there is something wonderful about seeing the castle off in the distance every time you look out . The panoramic view of the lagoon is nice too, and listening to the boat horns and train whistles from the MK (we always leave our sliders open when we are in the room so we can take in all of the sounds) :cloud9: We also leave our curtains open at night so we can watch the castle changing colours. If it's in your budget I think it's definitely worth it for a special trip (BTW, nice to be having some Poly time to yourselves!) unless you will definitely not be spending much time in the room.

What used to be called GV (non-CL) is now classed as "standard room". I don't think the room inventory has changed at all, just the name they have given them.

Maiapapaya - thank you so much for explaining. From what I hear, there really is no Bad view at the Poly!!!
