I know there is construction going on especially near Kona cafe - does anyone know when this is likely to be finished?

The construction is the lobby area and hopefully done January 2015 or soon after. The restaurant is open with exception on 11/20.

Of course I was planning on eating there that day. Now I am stalking disney for the elusive BOG FPP lunch Tomorrow is my 27 day window.

I have been stalking the boards and have not found an answer to the question: Is the new path at the Poly to the TTC permanent or is it temporary until construction is finished. How much longer is this path than the old one?

Will they be rebuilding a new and improved volcano for the new pool? Or is it just going to be a plain pool?

I asked about temporary vs permanent on the path and didn't get an answer yet, but people did say the new path is longer. Now 10-15 minute walk vs 5-10 (depending where you start from). My tolerance for the walk is going to depend on the humidity level.

I'm thinking of booking for December 2015. Will all the construction be done by then? What would be left if there is? My youngest DS has always wanted to stay at the Poly but what is the likelihood he'll like the pool with the cool volcano slide gone? I'm wondering will the pool even be themed towards kids still or just plain looking when done. Thanks.

Tikiman posted the pool and slide stay the same they are just reducing the volcano size to a smaller rock feature. This is to give more room for seating.

It will be done in the spring so for dec you are good to go

Also they are adding a water play area for kids too.

I hadn't heard about the new play area....great to hear as we are also considering Poly next December. Will that he done by then as well??

Just re-booked through a TA. Staying at the Poly for 5 nights now instead of 4!

As trishadono posted, the volcano/rock structure is being reduced in size, but the pool and slide are staying the same .

How ripped up are we at the old poly these days?

Lot of cash to pay for a place with reduced services these days...

The pool, hot tub and kids area done at the same time- spring.

The quiet pool then is going to get shut down for a refurb.

So we're 6 months out from our April 22, 2015 arrival at the Polynesian, followed by Disney Cruise....Made dining reservations this morning so that was fun!

I'm hoping that the Volcano pool will be reopened by the time we're there. Everything I read indicates March. Has anybody heard any update?

I have a 4yo and 2yo.... If anything, I guess my second choice would be the Wilderness Lodge. We stayed at the Contemporary last time.
