I read there is a pretty path to TTC from the Poly, but then Tikiman's site says it is closed due to construction and guests should use the side walk. Will the path reopen once construction is done or is it closed to non DVC guest forever?

Does the sidewalk route make the walk longer? Not that extra steps are bad when it being a F&W trip is factored in, I should really walk back to PA at that point :) , but after the mile trek from YC to HS that everyone calls short I want to know what I will really be in for, particularly if temps are soaring.

We just booked for October 2015. I'm feeling pretty comfortable that the big stuff will be done. I'd like to see the lobby and feature pool done as well as the huts on the water

Hi everyone  I know you're all probably sick of getting questions about when the construction will be finished by, so I apologise in advance, But would it be safe to assume that most of, if not all of it will be completed by September 2015? It seems to have been going on forever, and when we visited a few weeks ago it was a bit of a mess, construction walls up all around the GCH and diggers on the beach. I'm hoping to book a trip soon, but I wouldn't want to stay at the Poly if it is still going to be like that. Does anyone have any idea? Thanks! :goodvibes

Yes it is a longer walk now. The path was more of a direct route across the Poly. The path now, or as it was last month, is more of a round about way to get there. Old vs. new maybe adds 10-15 minutes depending upon walking styles, stops to admire and etc. Of course if you were to ask my 11 year old daughter, she would tell you the new way takes F O R E V E R.

We're booked for a standard room next August :) and was going to request the Samoa building based on what I've been reading on the boards. Is there a certain floor/location which is preferable in the Samoa buildings? Thanks!

There are no balconies on the second floor of Samoa, so if a balcony is something you'd like to have, I'd request 3rd floor (or 1st floor if you prefer a patio). Nothing is guaranteed and while I'm sure they try their best to accommodate requests, sometimes requests do get overlooked by mistake. With that said, if you are assigned a room that doesn't meet your requests, you could always ask if a different room is available. Whether or not the CM can move you depends on how busy it is, but we have found the CMs to be very accommodating whenever possible ;).

Thanks for all of your great tips :). If all is well, we'll be there Aug 20-28th.

Just requested with my TA the third floor of the Rarotonga Longhouse pool side or the third floor of the Samoa Longhouse. Really would like the third floor with the balcony. pixiedust:

Worth mentioning... Rarotonga pool side may be facing construction. Once the Nanea pool re opens in late spring (if on time), the East pool (Quiet pool) will go down for what Tikiman has described as a major makeover. The Wilderness Lodge pool is in the middle of an upgrade right now that began July 28/14 and is scheduled to be done by November 27/14. It wasn't considered a major redo.

Apologies if this has already been answered

I know there is construction going on especially near Kona cafe - does anyone know when this is likely to be finished?

Many thanks;)

The green fence you see from third floor Rarotonga and Somoa is no big deal and there is little to no noise coming from Tokelo. No biggie. You will be fine with those selections.

Hi Tim... Not my selections ;). I'm an Aotearoa kind of girl. Lol. Just wanted to OP to know what she might find from Rarotonga next August, in case her TA didn't mention it. there's bound to be more fencing once the East pool is being reworked.
