Nanea pool construction is scheduled to be done late March but more like April.
East Pool construction will start when Nanea pool reopens and could last through much of the Summer but no dates are given.
GCH should be done by February or early March.
Part of DVC should be handed over to the resort by March with the rest later 2015.
Captain Cook's should open this week and the walls near Tambu Lounge are down after the completion of the work on the air handlers.

At some point the temporary check in will be available and walls will have to go up around the current check in desk.

Thank you! I as hoping you'd pop in and clarify the timelines for us!

Hello! First post :yay:
Wasn't completely sure where the best place to post this question would be but then I narrowed it down to here, because you all seem to know about the Polynesian more than anyone!
My SO and I are leaving for WDW in 11 days :cool1: Finally!
I just realized that we have a reservation for Ohana at 9:30 on a night that Wishes is at 9:00.
What are your opinions on watching Wishes from the beach at 9 and then making our way up to Ohana? Are we able to get drinks somewhere and bring them onto the beach?
I've tried to research this on multiple websites but everybody seems to be more concerned with whether they're reservation time will get them seated in time for Wishes :confused3

Thank you!!

Well okay! Maybe I will make different dining choices this trip!

Hope you have a great trip :wizard:.

Thanks so much for the update :).

You're welcome :goodvibes.

I totally get the excitement about checking into the Poly as your first resort :yay:.

Yes, for a split stay, doing a package with the first resort and RO for the second is probably the most economical. Getting the DDP for both resorts adds cost as the DDP requires a minimum purchase of a 1 day base ticket for everyone in the room (2 day base for FD), so it does make sense to get park tickets for the whole trip on the Poly reservation and book RO and pay OOP for your meals for your Epcot resort reservation ;).

LOL about being brave going in July . This will be our second time for a July trip. On our first July trip (2002), it was hot, but we spent a lot of time at the resort swimming and went to BB a couple of times, so it wasn't bad. Next year my brother and SIL are going with us (taking my niece for the first time) and since my SIL is a teacher, summer works better for them. When my brother mentioned he wanted to stay at the Poly I was ecstatic as the Poly is our favorite resort....plus the pool should be open by July and the GCH and Captain Cooks should be done. I'm sure there will still be DVC construction going on, but that won't bother us...as long as we have the main pool and everything else is done, we're good with it :goodvibes.

Unfortunately, Disney doesn't usually offer deep discounts for a resort that is undergoing construction. As the pp mentioned, a room discount was being offered, but that has expired.

Actually they are trying out being able to book a room with dining with out tickets at the moment. so you could put dinning on either depending on what works best for you.

Oh I hope this is true. Would love to add DP to room only reservation. I wonder if I can book this online, or I would have to call to do this?

Is there still a laundry room? Where is it located and any idea on cost of washer/dryer? Thank you.

Yes you can do this. You can only call to do this and it has to be a minimum 2-night stay.

We love paying for everything upfront, we have no worries and it gives us a feeling that we are on a "free" vacation!:lmao:

Yes, there is still a laundry room. As of our June 6th - 14th vacation it was open. I can't remember how much it cost - I want to say a dollar each to wash and dry, but I could be wrong.

Thanks Kook for the link.
It looks very clean and spiffy, but I'm a little disappointed that they did not make it bigger. It looks like they did not add more seating?? Plus no self serve dole whips... Sigh:sad:
I like the addition of the retro posters, new furniture and darker, more Polynesian décor, but you're right, it doesn't appear to have more seating which should have been added.

It was announced a few months ago that the Dole Whip machine would be removed and a new location, just for Dole Whips, will be added.

More CC photos are located HERE as well as information on the new Dole Whip location.

Thank you Kristina. Do you remember where the laundry was located?

Laundry facilities are located just outside the Never Land Club. The facilities are small, however, and you may be faced with quite a wait for machines to be free. For a price, laundry and dry cleaning service is available, featuring one-day service.

Hope everyone has a fantastic Friday! I still owe some pics from our stay- just been so busy at the office since coming back. Funny how the few days before and after a vacation I feel like I work enough to make up for the entire week away!

Just to reiterate for those staying shortly- we had a great time staying in Hawaii and would stay again even with the construction. You'll love the low crowds!
