ALOHA! The Polynesian Resort Information Thread: October 2013

We are currently on the garden view side. Being a Polynesian lover it is sad to see the Polynesian be destroyed/re-constructed. Tahiti, Rapanui and Tokelau are off limits (green walls around the buildings). You can see the construction from the Hawaii lounge but it does not look that bad/is not in the way of Cinderellas Castle

How bad will construction be in mid November? I am sad that when I am finally able to stay at the poly they are ripping everything up! Wondering if I should take it off my list for now until they are done. Opinions please!!! TIA

I saw a post on another thread where poster said they had room rates under $200 a night! I would very much like to know how to obtain these rates.
Currently have reservations for June at WL woods view room and also reservation for mid-Oct. club level. Would love to return to Poly instead but I just can't see paying such high rates with so much construction and no pool, but would consider returning at $200 per. night.

Here now and I have to say I am super impressed with the club level lounge and staff. They are continuously refilling items, cleaning the floors and making sure that all guests are satisfied. I was worried at first, but I have to say that this has made for an even more amazing trip.

I just read on facebook that the waterfall to turn off on Monday. However they have said that every week and pushed ahead a week. Keeping my fingers crossed for you

The super great rate people have been talking about- It is over $200/night for the Poly and is their labor day special.
Also, the agents specifically ask people NOT to tell their exact rate, or at least I have had two of them tell me you aren't supposed to post it. I'm saying that more for people who keep posting things than for you - I'm concerned they are going to stop being able to give such a great deal if people don't start keeping the details a secret a little better. As fun as it is to brag, it would suck for all of us to have to pay double next year for the same thing because bragging was so fun for some.

Just have to laugh about the return of "Polynesian Village!" My dad never stopped calling it the Polynesian Village, and now he will be referring to it correctly again (and entirely by accident!)

Yes when you include the tax the rate was over $200 per night. Without the tax it was less than $200. I believe the tax rate is 12%???

Yes why are the travel agents able to give such a great rate? Why wouldn't Disney offer the same rate on their own web page??? I assume that Disney is giving the travel agent a commission so they are essentially undercutting themselves by letting travel agents offer a cheaper price. I really don't understand the logic.

The agency is booking a block of rooms and because of this they are receiving the group/convention rate. If Poly has a surplus of 300 rooms for a given time frame, they figure it's better to sell 100 of them to an agency at 50% of the rate than let those 100 rooms sit empty. Then they still have 200 rooms to sell at 100% of the rate.

Honestly, I would... I love the Poly but it really is tore up right now! What about the Beach Club? It's such a beautiful beachy resort with an amazing pool and walking distance to Epcot and Hollywood Studios! I think when the Poly is complete it will be even more amazing than before... Go then!

Hi Tikiman! Is the Captain Cook's refurb scheduled to be done in early or late July? I've heard both. Would love to see the "new" during our trip. Plus I'm hopeful the grown up grilled cheese comes back.

There's refurbishing going on at the Beach Club- (new carpets, painting, furniture...) Their going floor by floor so not sure how much better this would be.

But with that refurb they doing one floor at a time and aren't putting any guests on that floor while they're working. You can't miss the construction going on at Poly.
