Yes Linda, from what I've heard the quiet pool will be open. But I'll keep watching Tikimans updates. And easy enough to get over to GF pools.

I think we'd plan to just go to the GF pool. THe rest of our family (including two of my dc) will be at the GF so that actually works very well for us.

Sure will miss the Volcano pool though. We swam in it one time. The first time we went to WDW, we pool-hopped thinking it was 'legal'. When we saw the signs, after we had been swimming for awhile, we told a CM that we hadn't realized it was only for Poly guests. He told us that we weren't supposed to be there but he allowed us to stay. So while we have been back several times to visit the Poly, we have never swam there again. I was so hoping to swim there 'legally' :goodvibes

Anyone have an idea of when the waterfall feature will begin to be taken down?

I would like to know this too however I really don't think anyone has an answer. It sounds as if it is still there so is it still running or do they have it shut off?

Tikiman's facebook page has been having the most up to date info. People are commenting while they are down there.

So far still working.

I wonder if they'll wall it off the same time they close Captain Cook's.

Also wondering if they may wait to wall it off after Easter (the week before Easter is projected to be the most popular week of the year so far and most people staying at the Poly that week will be paying peak prices with no discount).

In any event, I'm expecting that it will be walled off by the time we arrive on April 28th.:(

I posted these on the construction thread, but thought I'd include them here too! Just returned from a wonderful stay at Poly earlier this week. These photos were current as of 4/1/14. My overall impression is that the construction is not too bad right now and it didn't interfere with our enjoyment of Poly. Captain Cook's was operating as usual and the GCH looked relatively untouched. The path to TTC was pretty torn up, so we used the resort monorail more than usual, and that worked smoothly. In January, we'll split our stay between GF and BWI based on the projected Poly construction, but I'm sure we'll be back to the Poly for the MK area part of our future split stays! Also posted a Poly CL review on the concierge thread, if anyone is interested.

Is the Monorail to MK from Poly back to normal operating hours? We are there last week of April. Seriously considering canceling if not.

People have reported it is working ok. Lots of up to date info also on Tikiman's facebook page. The only issue you may have is CC's is in a temporary location while it gets refurbished but it is still in the GCH.

Sorry if this has been reported before, but the information appeared to be pretty new, so I thought I'd share it.

Tikiman is reporting that fences will be going up around the pool, and that the beaches will be restricted to Poly guests only. Here's what he wrote:

Many noticed the temporary signs that were up at the entrance that said that you would not be allowed into the parking lot unless you had a room or dining reservation. The sign was put out because of the lack of room in the parking lot (the east parking lot has been closed since last photo 1-3
year) but this policy is not a temporary one. It has always been the policy but up until now was not enforced. I am told this will be enforced from now on along with other limits soon to be enforced much more to limit access to the resort by non-resort guests. Either because of all the people trying to get a look at DVC or because over the last decade misuse of the facilities has increased but they will be limiting the amount of non-resort guests on property. Officially the pool and beach area are off limits to non-resort guests so viewing fireworks from the beach if you are staying else ware may be a thing of the past. There will be fences going up around the pool that you will need to be staying at the Polynesian to gain access. Some people recently drove to the Polynesian and asked if they could shop and eat at Captain Cook’s and they were turned away.

That was from his April 2nd update on the construction.

I saw that on his page. I'm wondering something about the fences though...are they junky looking temporary ones while construction is being done? I can't see how any fences around the pool could not look awful. I changed my Yacht Club reservation to the Poly in May and I'm wondering if that was a big mistake.

We are not arriving until January 2015, but I am also concerned about the construction. We want to stay at Poly but I am nervous that it will be all torn up. It will be my Grandkids first visit to Disney. I am wondering if I should book somewhere else. Thanks for all the good information!!!

That's a hard one. I don't mind the construction because I have seen it "whole" before. January is usually to cold to swim so that's not too big a deal but it won't look as nice. Gf is going through a room refurb right now. Pics are on first page of thread. Many poly lovers have moved over there this year.

Meanwhile dd and I switched from gf to poly this year because we want one last stay before the changes(going in May).

I also like cr for convenience to MK . The pool isn't fancy but the slide is fun and it is not usually crowded. The beach is right there so it is a relaxing spot.

Good luck deciding, myself for kids first time I would switch.

We are also going to the Poly in May for the exact same reason.

It's a Poly pool party .... at the GF!!! :rotfl2:
Janet will be there in Aug too! :cheer2: I don't think I have your dates? Pas is impossible to keep up with, lol. I think I'll just check on her maybe a couple of weeks before :rotfl2:

Love the pics, pixarmom!:cool1::thumbsup2

Here is online check in choices for those curious.

Excellent! But only 2 pics? Ha. I have 1st & 2nd choice of longhouse, and balcony or patio 2nd choice. Outside space is #1 priority!

We have a Disney family photo session set up for the Poly in mid May. Will they let us take pictures farther down the beach towards GF away from the construction? Are there still many pretty areas in the Poly that we can take our family photo. If so any one have suggestions on certain spots?
