Well, my dream of getting to finally stay at the Poly is coming true! BUT it's in Dec 2014. I'm excited as well as a bit disappointed. I've dreamed of staying at the Poly but those dreams never included heavy equipment:crazy2: Can anyone tell me what to expect with the construction by early December?

Other issue is that two of my dc will be at GF with my aunt and uncle. I'd like to be 1) away from the construction 2) as close to GF as possible for ease of walking back and forth and 3) have a room with a balcony. Is there a longhouse you would all recommend we ask for? My boys love the EWP so an easy way to see that would be fun too.

Thanks!

That's good to know. Maybe we'll get our poly fix at the Spirit of Aloha. Would you guys recommend the show?

Most definitely! We do the show every year. Our kids love it. We enjoy seeing the same performers each time and the show is just so much fun.

Keep the Kona ressie to park and check out the beach. The path to GF May have a quiet spot ? There are lots of places at GF to watch.

Also dd and I used to stand on the balcony on top of the 3rd floor stair case at Tokelau. The view is amazing. Since stairs aren't locked why not pick a building and go up?

Great info - thanks! Yeah, spreading a blanket on the beach and playing in the sand pre-Wishes is a big part of our tradition, so we'd be sad to miss that.

If wishes is at 9 and we have a 9:50 reservation at Ohana, will we make it there on time if we leave after watching wishes?

That will be close. I would walk to cr and catch monorail from there. Try walking out and watching as you walk and not wait until actually over. We never watch until end because mad crazy. However if start near Main Street then walk slowly til 915-920 you will probably be ok.

Enjoy:goodvibes

I was thinking we could watch from the train station and then head. Thanks for the tip of walking to the CR! That seems like a great idea!

Tikiman web site is a great place to look for info. He has resort maps, write ups on all longhouses, and construction updates. Fiji or Aoetoroa wrong spelling I know!, would be closest to GF.

We are having family pictures taken at the poly and wanted some by the beach. Is there any construction down were the Luau is? There looks like a building posibly a church where people get married down on the beach between the poly and GF would this be a good spot for pictures? is there any construction over there yet? Also have they started to take the waterfall down yet?

I've not stayed at the Poly yet but could you not just take the resort launch over to the Poly? It would even be cool to watch the end of Wishes on the boat :goodvibes I truly don't know if that is an option since I've not stayed there yet.

Thank you for the response! I have been on Tikiman's site. Great site!! I was looking at the two longhouses you mentioned as well as Tuvalu. Would that be a good one too?

I guess I am still wondering what to expect for construction in December. I know the GCH was to reopen in Dec but probably not when we are there. What about Captain Cooks?

We stayed at the Poly 3/16 - 3/20. At that time there was no construction going on at the GCH (thank goodness). There wasn't any construction near that small beach near the Luau Cove either.

Having said all that, things can change quickly,

Thank you! I will keep checking periodically until our trip.

Ok this is driving me nuts - I just saw the published list of renovations & dates in the last few days - now can't find it - was it on this thread, the Poly construction thread, Tikiman's FB page....anyone know?

Tuvalu would be good if you are booking a lagoon view, but for standard view it's a longer walk. We are going in Aug and requested the other 2 longhouses. Capt cooks will be open again, yay. But pool will be down, so they will be shuttling to GF pool. There is always the quiet pool at Poly too.

Thank you again! That is helpful to know since we'll have a standard view.
