CC was too big for the little space they gave it. Plus, it's nice having QS dining more centrally located.

That said, I liked when it was TT and the Snack Isle next to Moana Mickey's Fun Hut. That whole building is attached to so many fond memories, I hate to see it be largely unused by guests.

Oh, for me too. I spent a lot of time at Moana Mickey's and have very fond memories.

We loved Tangaroa Terrace! We ate there at least twice during our stay. This was when DD21 was little and I remember Goofy would come by the tables and since it wasn't crowded he could spend so much time at each table. Who out there can tell me what the reasoning for closing TT down?

I will most likely be booking a room at the Poly for this fall... will definitely be Garden View pricing.... What is everyone's opinion on the nicest building for that amount of money? How close to the Beach can you get? Volcano Pool? Looking for the "best bang for the buck" if you will!! Thanks!

TT and Moana Mickey's building holds many, many fond memories for myself and family as well. In fact, it was TT that originally started serving Tonga Toast many years ago, served either with or without the stuffing, if memory serves.

I'm not sure where Tonga Toast started. We used to breakfast in the Coral Isle Cafe, and that's where we got it first (our first Poly stay was in '78, but I don't remember if I had Tonga Toast then). Ah, memories...

I remember having tonga toast for the first time at the Tangarora Terrace Restaurant in 1989 and asking the chef for the recipe which he gave me! Seems like yesterday

Our personal favorite has always been Fiji Building for Garden view which over the years has included Marina view as well. Ask for 1st or 3rd floor as no balconies on the 2nd. Close to Pool, GCH, Luau Cove and get view of the Marina area. Our favorite since 1989.

It was only the Contemporary, Polynesian and Golf Resort (aka Disney Inn, Shades of Green) in that area for breakfasts and only one park to visit. Started staying at the Poly back in '75 and I believe the rooms were only $45.00 per night back then. Really dating myself here. Three generations of my family have stayed at the Polynesian - myself, my kids and my youngest daughter's children and husband as well. My youngest daughter was also married at the Polynesian. Many fond memories as so many of us share of the Polynesian.

We're both dating ourselves. My first stay was at the Contemporary as a young kid. We all loved it (Fiesta Fun Center anyone? Wow.), but once we tried the Poly, we were devotees. Such a simpler WDW experience back in the day. When I was 10, my little sister and I used to monorail (by ourselves) to the Contemporary with a quarter each to watch the movie in the FFC. We felt soooo grown and independent. I'd never let my kids do that at that age today. I remember the resort channel back then with the blonde lady with the pageboy haircut singing "Walt Disney World, Disney World, Walt Disney World, Disney World, Walt Disney Wooooorld." So of its era.

We'll be there Sept 27 to Oct 4, Then heading over to Universal HRH CL Oct 4-7, 2012 can't wait for our first Poly stay

What a beautiful shot may i ask about the camera settings you used???

The camera is a D5100 on a tripod manual focus on the castle (important) bulb mode using a remote shutter 2.5 second exposure at f22 in raw format.

We are planning our first trip to Disney World with our kids DS6 and DD2 for October 2013. We decided we are going to splurge and stay at the Poly. I haven't been there since 1987 when I was 6 so I know things have really changed since then. DH really wants a Lagoon view room, his only request. Any suggestions on which longhouse and/or room for a great lagoon view??

Also, just wanted to say that this is my first post on DIS. I have been reading them for about 2 weeks and all of the information and time that everyone has put into it is AMAZING and greatly appreciated!!

to the Dis and the thread. You'll find that everyone has their own favorite view. The main lagoon view buildings are Tahiti and Tuvalu. Choosing between the two really depends on where you'd like to be located on the property. I don't think that there is such a thing as a bad lagoon view. I prefer a 3rd floor room with a balcony.
