ALOHA! The Polynesian Resort Information Thread: January 2012

Last August when I stayed in a Deluxe Club Level Room at the Boardwalk Inn I had already made a request for a room on the 4th floor through the Disney Reservation Center and the request was listed on the confirmation. Then later on after we started dealing with the BWI IPO I made that same request with them and they said it was noted one of their e-mails to us, however they also said since it's a request it could not be guaranteed.

Now we did end up with a room on the 4th floor, however I don't think the IPO Cast Members had a lot to do with it. All they can do is pass off whatever requests we have to the Club Level Cast Members working at the resort. So when they are doing room assignments it's out of the IPO hands as to weather or not you will be given your room request.

Right like I said CL CMs make the room assignments. Not IPO.

A new DisDads podcast with me representing the Polynesian resort has just been released. unfortunately I discussed my original plans to stay at GF.. But everyone knows I changed my plans twice:rotfl2:

We discussed all the benefits of each monorail resort. You can hear it at.

DisDads podcast episode 22 monorail deluxe resorts

Cool, I subscribed to that thread so I'll go take a look. Also thanks for the good morning with a nice shot of the little pool. Good morning back.

I have a dumb question. I'm staying at the Poly for the first time in a few weeks and will be driving my own car. Is there dedicated parking somewhere for the sole purpose of checking in? If so, where is it?

TIA!

Question about the convenience store -- Samoa Snacks..
Do they sell soda by the case? Or 2 liter bottles? Or just individual cans/bottles?

Thanks in advance.

No question is a dumb question..
There's not a dedicated parking lot for check-in but you can drive right up to the front and unload. There is bellman there that will get your luggage. Or you can unload and one can stay with the luggage while the other parks.

Just individual cans and bottles. And they are expensive. I would suggest ordering through garden grocer and they will deliver to the resort to be held until you arrive. :thumbsup2

Just wanted to add I like to use wegoshop because you don't have to buy $40 before they deliver. Also, they only charge you what the grocery store charges and they add a small delivery fee. In September Amy called me to see if she could leave our stuff with bell services the day before we arrived and it was great because all I had to do was call them down to bell services and they brought our stuff to our room for us. I used the service to order diapers and bottled water. It was way cheaper than renting a car or taking a taxi there and back.

Thank you!

Does the Bellman take your luggage to your room for you or do they have a cart that we use?

The pool will be open, but the pool slide will shut for 4 weeks starting February 6th. I posted an email from WDW that I received yesterday about it under another thread. I also spoke with a WDW representative today who confirmed the info. They will run pontoon boats to the GF for people that want to use a pool slide.

While this is frustrating, and part of me wishes I had known this when I booked, it isn't even to dampen my excitement about staying at the Poly!!!

Hope that everyone who's leaving soon has a magical trip! We're off in three weeks!!!!

Good morning everyone!
