ALOHA! The Poly FAQ: Winter 2011 Edition

I need to catch up with all the Poly goings-on! Missing out. Hello to all! :goodvibes:goodvibes:thumbsup2

I got my Magical Express paperwork in the mail today!!!!!:banana::banana: Makes everything seem so much more real now!!!! Do the luggage tags come with the stuff from the Walt Disney Travel Company? I can't remember. :confused3 I sure hope so, since I didn't get any. OR do they still even give them to you? It HAS been 3 years.

Unless something's changed, last year (August) we got our tags in the Magical Express envelope. I'd give them a call to make sure. (866) 599-0951.

They only gave us 3 in the packet and I needed an additional tag, so they sent more straight away.

I didn't mean the yellow paper tags for when you check your bag, but the nice plastic ones to put your info on your suitcase. Is that what you meant, too? Sorry if I'm confused.

OK, I called. (Thanks for the number). The souvenir plastic ones from the WD Travel Co are what I was thinking about, not the paper ones. They will be coming next.

Along the lines of ME yellow tags, they usually only send one per person now. Is there a way to request more?

You were correct; I was referring to the yellow ones for your checked luggage.

But now I'm intrigued! ...

So what are these souvenir plastics ones?! Do these come from Disney if you book directly through them? Is it for package vacations only? Just curious as our last trip was booked through Expedia but this year we went directly with Disney -- though we only booked room-only. Curiosity's got this cat.

I believe the plastic luggage tag thingys are part of the "package" they send you when you book a package thru WDW. Also comes with the little coupon booklet for the arcade, the boat rentals, the mini-golf, etc.

I booked a package directly through the WD Travel Co in 2008 and again this trip. We got really nice plastic luggage tags with a great sparkly pic of the castle on one side and a place to slip your name and other info into on the other side that the CM from ME said we will be getting directly from them. Soon, I hope. Actually getting paperwork from Disney is really getting me excited. I will try to take a pic of one & post it later.

Thanks ladies. :goodvibes

It must definitely be for package bookings only. We booked our flights and park tickets separately so we've only received the little booklet from Disney with our itinerary in it -- no coupons in the back either! Maaaaaan. Although we're a long way off from our trip; maybe we'll get some cute, fancy tags closer to our departure.

I don't care about the tags so much as not having any late September hurricanes. *goes off to do her "Anti-Hurricane" dance* :cool1:

You are indeed correct. :goodvibes The plastic luggage tags are only provided when you book a WDW package. My TA sends mine along as soon as she gets it from WDTC and checks it over.

This year the packages include something for a Child Activity Center. Anyone else have this? It would definitely come in handy for DD's Neverland Club stay.

 I always get SO excited when we get our ME tags. Once our package paperwork comes I can barely contain myself!

Yes, let's keep the bad weather away!

I was a little disappointed in the new plastic luggage tags (the shimmery ones). Not as nice or strong as the old ones. Free's free, though...we'll take 'em. ;)

having one of those up and down kind of days...

The up - I got my ME luggage tags and boarding passes today! So exciting - everything is so real now. I can't wait to arrive at the Poly. I also reserved the stroller we are renting and prepaid for the photopass CD...

Now the down - got in a fight with a neighbor about a guinea hen that he "adopted" and is now living (and pooping) on my back porch. Mind you I live in a SUBDIVISION - not on a farm!!! And I have two little children. THis is driving me INSANE!

Ok - now to find a way to make sre I focus on the good!

BTW - can't wait to see my countdown when I post this!

Sounds like it's time to make a hen gumbo;)

I just can't take the excitement today! Made my adrs last Saturday and got everything I wanted. Only 169 more days to go!

I also bought a Canon SLR around Christmas, so this will be my first trip with this little baby.

How much are the cabana's to rent? Do they rent by the hour or the day? I think my fiance would really enjoy that! Thanks!

Prices are $110 (+ tax) for a half day, or $185 (+ tax) for a full day.

Half day rentals are 10 am – 2 pm, or 3 pm -7 pm. Full day rentals run from 10 am -7 pm.

hmmmm - that guinea hen is officially missing... I saw a bunch of feathers near the woods behind my house - I am thinking that is not a good sign. But for me it means no more guinea hen at my door:cool1:

In other news - my DS (5) found a pair of scissors this morning and decided to use them to cut DD's (2) hair. I started to cry when I saw all the hair clumps on my floor and I wanted to wring his neck! Luckily, she has a lot of hair and for the most part it doesn't show too bad. The problem is she really needs to wear her hair back and that is when it really shows. Of course all I could think about was her upcoming birthday and more imprtantly the Disney trip and all the pictures - no more cute braids/ponytails/and definitely no pig tails. Why couldn't this happen next month....

Yep, the feathers are a good sign - for you;).

So the hen is gone, but the pain of a bad haircut remains. It sounds like DD2 might need to make a visit to the BBB:wizard:. Here's some BBB info.:

Just back from a week at the Poly! :sad1::sad1:

We were in a Garden View room in Hawaii - first time in Club Level! It was fabulous!! :cloud9:

We were given the golf cart drive-in when we checked in and the driver said that the quiet pool was being renovated (um, yeah, already knew that, LOL) to be a zero entry and 5 ft at the deep end. However, I did not see that a zero entry was being done - the entire time we were there the steps were still there and no demo was being done to the "step" side of the pool. :confused3

We checked out on the 9th and the pool refurb looked far from being done to me. However, the noise was not noticeable (no jackhammers at least while we were there). In fact, we noted that on many days there didn't appear to be any work being done at all, which I found very strange. We had one rainy day, so I didn't expect to see them out there then, but all of the rest of our days (we were there from the 2nd through the 9th) were beautiful and many of them appeared to pass without work on the pool. Now granted, something could have been done while we were at the parks in the morning, but we were usually back some time in the early afternoon, and still didn't see work being done. I will post a few pics from our room as soon as I get them off my camera and loaded. We didn't take any over the fence though - just from our balcony.

Club level food was fabulous and plentiful. Yes, the breakfast gets to be a little boring day after day, but was fresh and tasty each day. Nighttime offerings were amazing on all of the days we were there to enjoy. The chef was very friendly and most of the staff was as well. There were a few somewhat un-enthusiastic CL Castmembers, but overall, the staff was wonderful. :goodvibes Some of the other guests were messy and left plates and glasses out on their tables (um, hello, it's a lounge, not a restaurant - you need to bring up your messy plates so I don't have to clean up behind you in order to sit down).:rolleyes1

I really enjoyed sitting on my balcony or in the lounge with my Cafe Mocha with a shot of Kahlua in it! Heaven!! And don't get me started on that Poly CL punch!! Yummo!!

The Poly grounds were gorgeous - things were blooming everywhere, it was so lush and green and the whole place is just magical!

Pool was crowded as we expected, but the kids had so much fun!! Yes, they were checking for room cards and issuing wristbands, but not consistently. We did see them nicely make a couple people leave who were "meeting friends" for the luau - um, yeah, it's 2:00 and you are sitting on a lounge chair with your bathing suit on, LOL - but in typical Poly fashion they were very nice about it.

Any questions I would be happy to try and answer. Missing it already!! :sad1:

Should have pictures to share soon! Have to get a little actual work done today so I can start saving for our next trip! :thumbsup2

Sara

What a great description of your stay. Just sat down from a ten hour work day. Is raining here in Phila. area and is miserable. Your post brightened my entire day. Thanks so much. I really felt like I was there and could visualize everything you were describing! Appreciate your " let down" feeling. Always harder leaving the Poly than any other resort! :dance3:
