Just dropping in really quick to say...it's our last night at the Poly. :( Actually last night was supposed to be the last one, but after about 15 minutes here DH decided to add a night! :) You were all right. We are in love with this place. We have found our Disney home!

Thanks for all the pics, advice, and Poly love. I am one of you now for sure!!!

Anyone recently at the poly have an idea when the quiet pool will open? We arrive 4/18,and we LOVE the quiet pool! Thanks!

If the government shuts down at midnight, I have to cancel our trip. My husband is active duty military. We won't have any way to pay our rent May 1st or our utilities, I will have to use our trip money.

Just wanted to jump on here and tell you how excited I was that there wasn't a shutdown so your family can make your trip!:banana:

THANK YOU EVERYONE! Your well wishes and pixie dust really helped me through my nail biting day yesterday. I guess "Faith, trust and pixie dust" isn't just a cartoon tagline, LOL!

Crisis averted, and 5 weeks to go!!!:dance3:

I'm so jealous!! I really wanted to do this - add a night. After the drenching rain on 2 days and 1 night of our trip, the weekend of April 2-3 was looking gorgeous. We were checking out early on April 2, but I tried talking DH into staying until the 3rd. Just hang by the pool, RELAX and enjoy the weather. No dice. I even tried guilting him - we have to drive, since he won't fly, shouldn't that be one of the benefits, flexibility??? Still didn't happen. I will admit though, it was probably for the best. #1 I had a horrible cold on the 2nd and at least the day was just wasted sneezing and sniffling in the car. #2, getting home late on Sunday with school/work the next day wouldn't have been good for anyone!

So happy for you! Enjoy the next month of packing and prep! :thumbsup2

I have just booked our last night in Florida at the Poly - we are staying offsite for the 2 weeks prior to this. :dance3:

Wanted to experience it and happy to stay 1 night in 1 room with 3 small children but not 2 weeks worth. :crowded:

I am not worried about my view, I have booked a Garden view, but I will be a bit dissapointed if I am allocated a car park view. Am I likely to get one of these? If I do happen to get one will I be able to ask to switch (obviously dependant on availability).

And does anyone know if I will have time to go over to the chip and dale singalong and then get back to the Poly for the fireworks?

Thanks in advance.

Kirsten

I don't think you will find the room crowded with three young kids. We have stayed at the Poly twice with a 5, 8 and 19 year old. The rooms are pretty big and despite our concerns we were fine for a week (the key is just to be organized!)

I have rarely heard of anyone getting a terrible view at the Poly. The way the longhouses are situated there isn't really much of a chance for a parking lot view. If you are really concerned you could request a specific longhouse. And yes, based on availability you can ask to be moved.

Sorry, but I don't have an answer about the barbeque question.

Hello,
I would love to get everyone's opinion on which long house to request. We would like to be near the pool and have a full size balcony. Thanks so much!:cool1::thumbsup2

We have always enjoyed the Fiji longhouse. Even though you have to walk around the perimeter of the marina it is so convenient to Main bldg and the pool. If its raining its a quick hop to the monorail. the views are great on either side. Remember the second floor has no balcony and the third floor has some obstructed views due to trees. Haven't stayed there in two years but visit each time for dining, and viewing the lagoon parade and fireworks over castle. If you want something really top shelf, the hawaii building ( think it use to be called Moorea) is one of the best views around ( lagoon side) No matter where you stay, its just heavenly!

Sooooo happy for you. Thought about you last night while watching the news. Enjoy your vacation and let you troubles be few! SAFE JOURNEY!:yay:

How do you go about adding a day once your checked in? Does the rates you booked apply or is it the rate for that day? Or if there is a PIN wether it be public or personal do you have access to it?

Wanting to add a 2 night but we may not be able to until we get there...

We got pixie dusted on that one. We were booked Sunday through Thursday, and DH told the desk he would love to stay another night but we couldn't pay weekend rack rate. The concierge checked around and gave us our last night at the discounted rate we had booked our package for. I don't know if this is standard practice or if we just got very very lucky, but I would say it is worth a shot. We were thrilled and the extra night made the rest of the trip feel so relaxed. Hope it works put for you...I never wanted to leave!!!

That would be so nice..... ever since I started making more detailed plans (especially when the airline changed our flight times and we lost a bunch of time), I starting wishing that we had an extra day. But by that time we had our flights booked and there was no changing that. Glad you got some nice relaxing time in!
