I am glad you had a great trip Terry! Thanks for the update and all the info. :goodvibes

I can't wait to see the pictures.

31 days to go before I visit the Poly for the first time!!

Love reading all the info...keep it up

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You will LOVE it!!! How could you NOT? We'll all be waiting for details on your return.Sending pixie dust pixiedust:for a great vacation!
We already have 2 Polynesian resort drawings, and we bought a new one the other day! It's so cute! It shows the backs of Mickey and Minnie, they're in Adirondac chairs, and they're on the beach, facing the castle. There's a tiki in the sand, and a coconut drink in the sand next to Mickey and the coconut has the Polynesian resort logo on it. I love it and can't wait to hang it. :sunny:
We got that last summer and something made me think about it a couple of mths ago. I just found it 2 days ago in the hall closet. I love it and I'm glad I don't have to buy another one next month! I can look for a different one. That one is my favorite, b/c we were married at Sunset Point and it reminds me of that.
Love your report SeaSpray! We are so excited for our first stay at the Poly this fall! 2 ?'s....do you always stay CL? Do they offer the hula lessons by the pool daily? Thanks so much!!!
SeaSpray - thanks so much for your report! Sounds like you had a fantastic time. We'll be there in only 51 days-can't wait!! (our first three days are at POR)
So far all of our stays at the Polynesian have been CL, but we'd definitely stay non-CL too. We just love the overall theme and feel (and location!) of the resort. :sunny:
The hula lessons were in the Great Ceremonial House, yesterday morning. There was a large group participating. :)
I still have NOT seen the torch lighting ceremony! :headache: We just always happen to be someplace else at 6pm. :laughing: I guess this means we have to go back again some time. :rolleyes1 (You reading this, John??? LOL)
I sat down today to book my first trip to Disneyland to celebrate my birthday with a stay at the Grand Californian. When all was said and done, I had a reservation for my beloved Hawaii building at the Poly! I don't know how that happened. :confused3:lmao:
So with a long weekend trip in August and a full week in October, it will be a very long wait for our next planned trip in December 2011. Then again, I could always work on planning that Disneyland trip again.
I don't post often so I would like to take a quick moment to thank everyone for sharing their experiences, information, and photos!
Seaspray, thanks so much for posting your review:thumbsup2. These reviews will help me get through the next 34 days:hug:
I am from the South Shore too!
We saw who we think might be the new lounge chef; a younger man named Anthony. He was overseeing all of the food offerings, making sure things were filled, presented properly, etc. Now, I have to say that there were 2 older women working along side of him who.... how shall I say this.... :confused3 ....very not refined at all. They were questioning the chef on certain things, asking questions of him that I didn't feel were appropriate. Also, last evening we were standing near the food offerings when Chef Anthony and one of these women were working behind the food counter.... All of a sudden the woman says "Fireworks in the daytime?! What's that all about?!?! Why would they do that??? Who can see fireworks in the daytime?!?!??!" Chef Anthony was politely trying to explain that it's most likely the castle show that performs a few times a day... I was just observing all of this....but when she said "Who can see fireworks in the daytime anyway?!?!?" I smiled at her and said "Well YOU just saw them, and you're all the way here in the lounge". :laughing: I am not normally the kind of person to give a wise-guy remark like that, but for someone who on the job as Disney, and her tone of voice as if those fireworks were the most stupid and ridiculous thing on earth, it just sort of came out. LOL
Anyway, she and the other older woman were harmless, but just definitely not at all professional, even in a casual manner. They were not offensive.... just hard to explain their unusual behavior. LOL
If I recall correctly, Anthony is the "temporary" chef they utilize as a fill-in for Kim. The new chef is a big bald gentleman and older than Anthony, unless of course his name is Anthony as well? :confused3 Ron met him and we also spoke with Anthony when he was on duty. Anthony is a nice kid and had really hoped to get the position, but he probably lacked the requisite experience to head the lounge.
I bet I can guess the two women to whom you made reference. Let's just say we were less than impressed with them as well. . .:rolleyes1
Sounds like you had a nice and relaxing vacation! Looking forward to see your pictures. :woohoo:
Thanks SeaSpray I really enjoyed your review! Sounds like Im gonna have to buy that picture you bought sounds adorable and a perfect way to commemorate our dream anniversary trip to the Poly in Sept!
:love:Love hearing about your trip SeaSpray! Gets me excited to be back "home" at the Poly soon!!
58 days and counting!! :cool1::banana::woohoo::yay:
So, it's in stone now....our next trip to WDW!!!:dance3: It's a definite...not just a maybe!!! We talked to my parents yesterday and asked if they would like us to take them to Disney again.....and what do you think they said?? YES! I was a bit surprised, they are missionaries in Mexico, and sometimes it's hard for them to get away. They love it more than us (probably because of the grandkids;)) Now....y'all take a look at my ticker! We have a dilema within the family:confused3 GF, Poly, or BC. Our DS9 saw the SAB on our last trip and he said that is where he wants to stay. DD4, for some reason, wants to stay at the resort with the 'pretty red roof' (GF) and 'beautiful white walls'. My dad and I would love to return to Hawaii rooms 1506 & 1507 of the Poly and sit on the patio each night watching Wishes!!! We've stayed at the GF, and love it, but not the BC. We do like trying new resorts, also. Who knows??!!!:confused: So afraid that if we try the BC, I will be disappointed. It's nothing like the Poly!
I was thinking the same thing. We just bought a house on the lake (we move in tomorrow!). One of the top things on our must buy list is a pair of adorondack chairs. This print sounds like it would be a perfect bit of whimsy for our family room!
I wish we could ALL go with each other on our trips!! :lmao:
Now that would be quite a trip! :grouphug:
Thank you, SeaSpray, for taking the time to post your TR. We are super excited about our trip in just 57 days! :cheer2: Your TR helps bring it that much closer for us. Here's hoping your post-Poly trip days are filled with sweet memories of your visit until the next time. :flower3:
SeaSpray Enjoyed your report!! Thanks for posting! Looking forward to your pics, too.
I'm in single digits now!!! :cool1::dance3::yay: Can't wait!!!
great report seaspray. i can now finally say "next week ill be at the poly" :cool1: i cant wait :banana:
It sounds so magical, SeaSpray! Thanks for the report ;) We've always stayed in value/moderate, so we know THIS trip is going to be a treat! :cheer2: Just added my MIL & nephew to our reservations yesterday & they were able to get 40% off also. They are kinda griping about $2k each (for 9d/8n w/ Dining at the POLY!!!!!!) :scared1: I'm like "Get a GRIP people! This is the POLY for crying out loud!!!!!" :rotfl2:
Awesome trip report SeaSpray!!! LOL - now I know who to be on the lookout for in the lounge when we get there ;-) I hope the nice weather continues into August for us ;)
Thanks for the review SeaSpray! Of course it makes me want to be at the Poly - right now!!! And I as well have never seen the torch lighting ceremony. Last time I was there, I JUST missed it :headache: I'll add it to my list (if I can remove myself from soaking up the rays by the pool...)
I've stayed at BC and enjoyed the location to Epcot. If you want to spend the majority of your time at Epcot, BC is a great choice. But I didn't think SAB was that great with my younger kids. It is not a pool that you can see everything all at once so you have to be in the pool with the young ones. At the Poly, I can have my kids in the pool while I sit in a chair next to the pool. I think as my kids get older, SAB will be more appealing but right now, it was just too big, crowded, and the river thing was scary with the strong current. And the food options at BC are awful... (just my opinion though!)
I tell people that this is MY vacation and I am going to the Poly. If that is out of their price range, they can stay somewhere else. I don't want to be 'guilted' into staying somewhere that I'm just not happy with so I know what you mean!
