Hi all! To begin, Happy Birthday Breezysmom!
I love this thread and have been lurking on it for over a month now. I read from the beginning of Part I and have just gotten caught up! Phew!

Anyway, staying at the Poly has been my dream since I was little and with the 4o% discount that was being offered my DH and I decided this was a great time to go for it! It took a lot of effort :o), but I was able to convince DH that the discount would also make CL possible, which we never would have considered or afforded otherwise....We decided to go for CL and pay for meals, as needed, OOP instead of the DP.

With all the bad Poly CL reviews recently I'm really getting sad and afraid that I made the wrong decision.

Our trip is planned for August with our DDs, 8 and 5.

There's noone whose opinion I trust more than you guys -- what I love most about you all is your honesty and positive spirit --

Can you reassure me -- pretty please!

H! We'll be at the Poly CL in August too with our three sons and I'm not a bit worried. There have been maybe two or three unfavorable reviews lately. And how many people have stayed there?

The way I see it is this: There are lots of people that read everything they can to prepare for "the trip of a lifetime" and they set very high, unrealistic expectations. When they get there, they've set themselves up for failure. ( I speak from experience here.)

Now, that is not to excuse and real problems with service. I simply mean that if someone comes to have dessert fifteen minutes before the stated serving time is over, it seems reasonable to me that there might not be as much out. But that is just my opinion.

If you get to the Poly and there is something wrong with your room or you have any sort of problem, speak to a CM. If they can't help, ask for a manager and remain calm. ;)

I hope you decide to stay with the Polynesian because it is truly a wonderful hotel experience. And I hope your entire trip is filled with pixie dust!:tink:

We just stayed at the Poly GVCL in October with our 3 children and my parents. We looooved it. Having the lounge was like another living area. The offerrings were delicious and fun. We were impressed and so happy.

My DH and I are celebrating 20 years this month and we are going to Disney for 3 nights in June. He told me to pick the resort. I thought about the GF since we got the 40% code, but I just can't do it. I just love the Poly too much.

I am planning a long weekend with just the kids and me for Nov at the CBR to keep costs down, lol. They are begging me to go back to the Poly even if it is regular GV, lol. We got a 40% code and it made the CL affordable for us.

It was magical to sit and eat breakfast while seeing the castle in the morning, or listening to Wishes at night while having dessert.

Well, I got another 40% code for the fall, and I am planning to do at least a split at the CBR/Poly if not all at the Poly. I can't go to Disney and not stay there, lol.

Go without expectation, and enjoy the magic!:thumbsup2

We just booked!!! We are all set, we'll be at the Poly September 26th-October 1st. This is our first trip to WDW ever, and I am RIDICULOUSLY excited!!! :cloud9:

I recieved a pin code, but after talking with a great castmember just now I found out our military discount was even better than the 40% off. I was able to book 5 nights in a lagoon view for an incredible rate.

I look forward to getting to know everyone and swapping great info and stories!!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY BREEZYSMOM AND HAPPY UN-BIRTHDAY TO EVERYONE ELSE!!!! :cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:

Thanks Aristocath and Mickey2Minnie1!
Great advice and thoughts from you both.
I'm feeling the magic again -- can't wait to get back to my dreamin'!

We were there over Thanksgiving. We have loved all of our stays there. This year we are simply trying something different. I think the only thing I can say about the Poly is this:

HAPPY BIRTHDAY BREEZYSMOM :goodvibes

Katie--I've never stayed at the Poly before and I admit to worrying a little about setting expectations too high. I really am not a hard person to please, I swear! :) My biggest worry is the crowds at the pool over the 4th.

Well put, Aristocath!!! Many people complain but do nothing about it. And I love what you said about remaining calm...and let me add.....be nice!!! :thumbsup2 And like I said in a previous post, the IPOs have been remarkable. I can't tell you how many times I have been in contact with them to change something and within hours they have granted my request. Can hardly wait!!!!!!!!! 5 WEEKS away!!!!

We will be there May 13-20th. It looks like we may be there at the same time.

Looks like we are going to miss you by a couple of days:sad1: We check in the morning of the 22nd. DH and I keep hoping that we will run into someone who loves the Boards as much as we do.

Have a GREAT trip!

We will be checking in the 23 of May- 29. Maybe we will we see you!! We LOVE the DIS too ...lol :wave2:

 No need to apologize! Oh my...you do have a full plate - I am so sorry....but....I am sending a pm as soon as I finished this post. Have you considered renting a scooter? this may be a big help to you - the DisAbilities Board has lots of information about companies and where and how to rent - they will deliver it to your resort and pick it up at the end of your stay. The scooters in the parks are costly per day and you never know if one will be available or at the next park if you park hop.

The DisAbilities Board has so much helpful information - about dining, room requests, scooters - everything to help you plan and ease some of the stress and worry. http://www.disboards.com/forumdisplay.php?f=20

I do hope this helps - check your pm's. :goodvibes I think you can still have a wodnerful trip.:goodvibes :grouphug:

Seriously, you can do Disney!! You may just have to do it differently than you thought. Definitely check out the DISabilities forum. Take your time in the parks and be sure to spend some time just soaking up the Poly. You'll still be able to have a good time, I promise!! :wizard:

Thinking happy thoughts for you and your family. Hopefully DD's allergy problems don't go any further than what you've already discovered. From what I've read, the WDW restaurants are very good in dealing with allergies (eg. the chef will even come out to the table and discuss food choices with you etc).

As for yourself, I hope that it is a condition that maybe just requires that you get on some medication and that it stabilizes quickly. I have a minor heart issue myself, so I know how scary the initial/diagnostic stages can be (the uncertainty etc). Worst case scenario (which I hope doesn't happen), you postpone your trip, get well and then have the vacation that you and your family deserve.

Wishing you well

I just wanted to say a HUGE thank you!!! :worship: The other day I just could NOT handle anymore 'bad' news....Ever had one of those days? I am feeling much better now. I spoke to a friend of mine who is a physical therapist and said that all of my symptoms are also a sign of a subluxation of a rib...(I also have hypermobile joints which make complete sense as to this whole mess!) We will see! As for my LO...I am sure everything will be OK with her, I guess being told she was HIGHLY allergic and I have to carry epi-pens was just another icing on the cake!

You guys are the best! :cheer2: Thanks again!

Happy Late Birthday Breezysmom!!!:goodvibes:goodvibes

Thank you:worship: for a WONDERFUL thread on the Poly! We are staying there Sept 12-19th and I can't wait!!!:banana::banana: The pictures and info are amazing on this thread:thumbsup2

Funny, I was just thinking about you this morning and wondering if things were ok. So glad you checked in and things are looking better today. :)

Happy Belated Birthday Breezy! I am so sorry I missed wishing birthday wishes on the actual day.

To those who read about bad CL reviews at the Poly you will also find bad reviews of every CL on property. I have stopped reading those and want to find out for myself.

On a different note, dd had surgery on both eyes yesterday and is in severe pain. Does anyone know how to get a 7 year old to let you put the ointment in their eyes?

Oh, how did I miss this?!?!?!?!?!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!:rockband:party::bday::jumping1

We are going in about 10 days or so and my son has an allergy to tree nuts. We have to carry an epi with us wherever we go too. I remember the paranoia when he was first diagnosed, but 2 1/2 years later I still haven't had to use it and it's becoming easier. Best wishes to you for a great trip!

That is what I need to see to get me even more excited for our trip!! Does anyone have some pictures from an April visit? What's the weather been like there recently?

So glad you're feeling better! I've been carrying an Epipen for about 25 yrs and never used one yet! Have severe allergies to fish, several foods, bees and who knows what can set it off...so it's not as bad as it seems when you first begin to deal with it. :thumbsup2

Hope you can enjoy the planning for a wonderful trip.

Woo Hoo! I have a ticker again. OK, for all of you experts what are some key things that I can't forget to bring with us?
