I just need to be cheered up......

Seriously, you can do Disney!! You may just have to do it differently than you thought. Definitely check out the DISabilities forum. Take your time in the parks and be sure to spend some time just soaking up the Poly. You'll still be able to have a good time, I promise!! :wizard:

I'm going to apologize before I begin.....I just am overwhelmed, and I am hoping for some happy thoughts since everyone here is so fun and sweet.

We leave in 24 days....I just found out my DD1 has a severe peanut allergy....we are going to an allergist in 1 wk to see if there is anything else she's allergic to. This just really worries me because she's had such a rough 16 months including reflux since birth.

I've been having chest pain since last week...Went into shock at Toys R Us from the pain of subluxing a rib, then 3 days ago at Target I almost blacked out.

In 7 days I have been to the ER and the DR. twice. They just moved up my cardiology appt/echocardiogram to tomorrow.... because of the pain increasing.

I am suffering from pressure on my chest, like someone was sitting on me...it worsens when I lay down, gets better with me leaning forward. I also can't walk around the block without feeling like I'm going to black out.

The PA I saw today is worried about Pericarditis.....which as far as I have read, is not life threatening....But I have ALWAYS been healthy.....up to last week I walked a ton and was doing the Wii Active....I am SO bummed

How am I going to be able to DO Disney?!?! I just want to feel normal and have fun with my DH and girls.

I just need to be cheered up......

Thinking happy thoughts for you and your family. Hopefully DD's allergy problems don't go any further than what you've already discovered. From what I've read, the WDW restaurants are very good in dealing with allergies (eg. the chef will even come out to the table and discuss food choices with you etc).

As for yourself, I hope that it is a condition that maybe just requires that you get on some medication and that it stabilizes quickly. I have a minor heart issue myself, so I know how scary the initial/diagnostic stages can be (the uncertainty etc). Worst case scenario (which I hope doesn't happen), you postpone your trip, get well and then have the vacation that you and your family deserve.

Wishing you well

We have requested Samoa based on the feedback I've read on here... Which rooms in Samoa have the best view / closest proximity to the Volcano Pool?

I know they are just requests, and may not be honored, but I'd love to have one of those first floor rooms with quick, easy access to the Volcano Pool!!

Can't wait!!

I have a minor heart issue too. I know it's scary not knowing exactly what is wrong, especially when it is your heart. You'll be okay and you'll be able to do disney one way or another. Try not to stress TOO much. We're always here if you need someone to talk too!

I will preface my comments by saying that I have never used online check-in, primarily because we have never really had much of an issue with the check-in process at the resorts.

Is there something specific you would like to know about on-line check-in? I've read both pros and cons to it.

Sorry to jump in :) I also have a question about online check in.

I am concerned about using it as I made a request when I made my reservation for a ground floor room, building close to the monorail or pool as my DH has a medical condition. I am afraid that if I use the online check in, then once at the Poly online check in line, if our room is way off then I will have to get in the regular line to see if anything can be done. I know that requests are not guaranteed, so I am just hoping that we will get close to what will work best for our family.

Looking through this and getting super excited!! Thanks! Poly is my dream resort and this will be our lucky 13th trip!!:banana::love:

I can't imagine that you would have to line hop to get an issue resolved if you are unhappy. Just because your documents are printed, doesn't mean problems can't be resolved to your satisfaction in the online check-in line.

Honestly, I have never seen the front desk so busy that the wait was horrid.

First off thank you to all who spend so much time making this one of the most informative sites on disboards. My concern is the conditions of the rooms. I have read on several post that the rooms are dated there is mold on the bathroom walls and the wallpaper is coming down, this is a problem for me after spending so much money on the vacation I expect to get at least what I paid for. It is not too late for me to switch to the GF for a little more money and I know the rooms are in great shape. Should I be concerned or are these isolated problems? Thanks in advance for your taking the time to answer!:wizard:

Have not seen this at all! Been there twice, had 3 different rooms, all were in excellent condition. We found them to be very nice!!

I just contacted IPO, Amanda said it is for only one day on the 15th of April. I think the really bad thing is those that the 15th is in the middle of their stay have to bail too. That would suck more then it being on the first or last day. I had to move once after my first day. I didn't like it because I like to "nest" and get comfortable and I felt uncomfortable that night. Worked out much better, though, we loved the room much more.

Ugh, you're right, wouldn't that stink if it were in the middle of your trip?? We moved after the first night once and that wasn't bad, but right in the middle? That would not be good!

Gretchen, just wanted to mention that we also moved buildings after our first night (our choice, though, to get into our beloved Tokelau). I wasn't thrilled about it, after the long drive there, really just wanted to get unpacked and in fact our arrival day we did no parks, so plenty of time to unpack. But we really wanted Tokelau, so we did it. Luckily, even though I hadn't planed for it, we were able to take just 2 bags out of the car. Since we had the car there, we just put them back in in the AM when we went to the MK, and then unloaded everything when we got back mid-day. It really wasn't bad at all, I unpacked stuff while they all headed to the pool and then I joined them. It was worth it for us to be where we wanted, so I hope it's not too bad for you!

I'm sure it won't be... After all - we'll be in WDW & at the Poly! I could think of alot worse. I plan on packing 1 smallish suitcase for the first day, just as you did. The only problem is - that since I'm such a fanatic, I've had the grandkids suitcases packed for a couple weeks now! Yep - got those gallon zip lock bags filled with their daily outfits - right down to sox & underwear...:rotfl2: Will just have to reorganize things. Not a problem, at all.

Oh goodness.... At least there were no water issues or somethign like that.

I hope that this doesn't cause any issues on our arrival day - April 16th - with everyone who was supposed to be in Hawaii having to move somewhere else on the 15th... Just the general idea of all those Hawaii occupants rooms being somewhere else on property and then having to move - that's a lot of extra cleaning and moving and "checking in" going on on the 16th. Although hopefully since it is a concierge building, everyone will be getting keys and so forth at the Hawaii building.

I was told that the work would definitely be completed within 24 hours. I hope it doesn't cause any complications for you. I agree about all the extra activity - it seems like a logistical nightmare to me. My hat is off to all the CM's involved as I'm sure they'll have to put up with alot of abuse from unhappy customers. I'm sure they'll do the best they can to make it as seamless as possible.
Hopefully we'll run into each other while we're there!

Gretchen

I can appreciate that it would/may be more convenient for a GG party because you will all be arriving at different times. The earliest of the group arriving may have luck insuring the group is located in close proximity to one another, etc. The online process will also speed the check-in process for the parties arriving later.

Is there something specific you would like to know about on-line check-in? I've read both pros and cons to it.

Tess - thanks again for your response. Can't think of a specific question - just wondered if others found it worth it or encountered any difficulties. I think we are going to give on-line check in a try this time - at least we'll know for next time (always assuming there will be a next time :wizard:) and can share our experience with other Poly folks.

I've used online checkin several times although I can't remember if I used it at the Polynesian in February. Anyway, I like it. It's like having the first step of the trip underway. It speeds things up by a couple minutes as everything is ready.... credit card down, keys and parking pass printed, resort info, etc..

As Tess said, if there's a problem it can still be resolved as you do interact with a CM. I do agree with her that check in is usually fast anyway. I only recall waiting once for more than a few minutes. Still this makes it even faster.

Bottom line for me is that is is fun to "check in" from home. :cool1:
