ALOHA! The Poly FAQ~ Spring 2010 Edition

I did this back in January and thought is was worth every penny..would have even paid more for it (but dont tell Disney that )

The fact that I was able to walk up 15 min (rather than stake out a spot 45+ min early) before the fireworks began and sit in a comfy chair at a table (not pavement) and have access to unlimited yummy desserts and hot beverages (I was there for record low temps so I drank more than my share of hot tea and hot chocolate). Not to mention the view was amazing. Not a bad seat in the place. Plus we were able to continue snacking on desserts and hot chocolate while everyone else was fighting the crowds to leave MK after it was over.

The only negative was that the selection good of been a little better (but im really picky) but they had everything from fruit, any flavour tart you can imagine, cakes, chocolate covered strawberries, donought, mango shooters, creme brule, etc.

Here is a small sampling of my desserts...I think this was my first plate so I didn't overload it too much didnt want to seem like a pig

don't want to totally hijack the Poly thread - but I'm really interested in this. Can you see Spectro from the seating area? It would be worth the $$ to not have to finagle a decent parade viewing spot, even without all the yummy food!

Only 249 days to go...seems like forever, but it's nothing compared to the almost 2 years it's been since I've last been to WDW! We're staying at the Poly next time and I can't wait! I get so excited to see all the pics! Thanks for sharing!

To be honest I don't really remember...I was super tired that night and I napped at WL until it was time for Wishes...I do remember getting to MK for the last 5 min or so of Spectro but watched from Main St. not the tomorrowland terrace...You could sit out on Main street and watch Spectro and when it's over hop on over to the terrace just before Wishes starts...since the tables are reserved in your name there is no need to rush over

Question about the hula lesson in the Poly lobby..is this something that is more geared towards kids or can grownups (wow. just called myself grown up im 23 and my future hubby is 28) do it too...?

I've seen kids and grownups do it. We didn't get the chance to but I warned DD that I'd get right in there at the first chance.

For who asked about the Wishes dessert party--I called Disney Dining today and apparently it isn't in their system to book at the moment. I hope they get this loaded soon as I'd love to go to this for our trip to the GF in June.

Here now, our first time. I can't believe I ever thought I wouldn't like it here as much as other places. It is way more beautiful than I expected!!

I am so happy it is more than you expected! Sometimes a resort cannot meet our expectations, so it is truly wonderful when it does.

I remember being able to see Wishes and the Electrical Water Parade while in the lounge.

I think you are talking about the noodle station dessert thingy! You can see the spectro magic parade barely! Through some trees and over peoples heads! The noodle station dessert thingy was expensive!
I am just sore about the fact that it was a wonderful terrific place to watch wishes while sitting in a chair drinking a soda and eating some fries! Now it's another opportunity to make money! So if you don't pay $25 you can't sit in the noodle station and watch wishes!

Thank you, yes, that's what I was talking about. I don't think it would be worth the $$ to watch Wishes. We'll have plenty of desserts during the week and we'll find a spot to watch the fireworks. Probably just once in the parks, if even that. The view from the Poly is so lovely! We did watch once on the bridge to Tomorrowland last year, just so DD could see Tink fly. I would DEFINITELY pay for someplace to watch Spectro without having to "claim spots" so early, though!

We arrived back late last night after 10 fabulous days at the Poly. It really was an amazing experience. We had a first floor room in Tokelau which was huge. It walked out to a nice grassy area for the boys to run around and play. As the weather was a bit cooler in the morning and evening, we didn't really use the patio but I could see it being really nice in warmer weather. We had four days of mid 60's, two days around 70 and four days in the mid to upper 70's. The only day we had rain was Sunday when we got caught in the monsoon at MK.

We had some terrific meals and some we wouldn't go back to. We loved our breakfast and dinner at Ohana, great food and service. We had a fun breakfast at Chef Mickeys with great character interaction. We tried the Luau as my husband had always wanted to go to it. We didn't really care for the first part of the show but thought the traditional dancers were great. The food was okay. We really enjoyed the salad, bread and pineapple but found the rest of the meal to be below average. We had a similar experience at Teppan Edo with extremely small portions in a crowded and very noisy room. Just not a hit with us.

We had our disney date night at Victoria and Alberts. This was a once in a lifetime dining experience that is worth every penny. We did the wine pairings with our meal and it was the most exquisitely prepared and delicious meal. If you have the oppportunity to ever dine there, I would highly recommend it. It really is worth the splurge.

We had a very fun meal at Whispering Canyon Cafe which I know gets mixed reviews. We had a great meal with terrific service. This was one of the boys' favourite meals and a definite must do for our next trip.My twin boys had their birthday dinner at Citricos and the staff there went out of their way to make the evening magical for them. I was extremely impressed with Captain Cooks. For everything from a quick snack, lunch by the pool and a yummy breakfast, the food was fresh and delicious. The staff there were very friendly and helpful. The Tonga Toast and the Polynesian salad were my two favourites.

We really enjoyed the volcano pool and the boys LOVED the slide. While it was a little chilly for me to swim, the boys spent hours in the pool and played on the beach. It is a great set up, especially with yummy adult beverages from Barefoot Pool Bar!

We found Tokelau to be an excellent location. It was central to the bus stop, laundry and Neverland Club and only a short walk to the TTC and GCH. Our room was fresh and clean when we arrived. Mousekeeping was good for the first five days but slid drastically downhill after that. While beds were made, surfaces were not dusted and the mirrors were not cleaned of smudges. Vacumming was only in the main areas and they did not go into the corners at all. I don't expect any extras but I do tip every day and want the room to be clean. We had two small maintenance issues which were quickly and professionally dealt with. Any concerns we addressed with the Poly staff were dealt with immediately. I found the majority of the staff to be very friendly and welcoming.

We had a fabulous time in the parks and were really pleased with the transportation options from the Poly, especially the launch over to MK. Bus service to AK, DHS and Typhoon Lagoon was good as well.

Overall, it was a great trip and we really enjoyed being at the beautiful Polynesian. It is a fabulous place to stay!

IPO wasn't able to book it for me either. Hopefully they can get the problems worked out with the booking system so I can take the boys to do it again.

I am so happy it is more than you expected! Sometimes a resort cannot meet our expectations, so it is truly wonderful when it does.
