Thanks guys:goodvibes...I think I will use my Iphone to check in and am seriously considering paying EBCI for the return portion....You guys rock!!:worship:
Totally worth it to do EBCI. I didn't have to worry about forgetting to check in right at 24 hrs. We got A boarding passes and they were printed and in the envelope hanging on our door the next morning.:thumbsup2

:woohoo::woohoo:

Paid off our room ressie today. Only 70 days til we check into AKL, and 74 days until we check into the Poly!

Apologies if this has been asked but this thread is HUGE... I posted a thread about this on the resort board and was directed here. I'm hoping my fellow Poly fanatics can help me out...

I can't believe that I'm so upset about this! (I know I should embrace change, but still...) I read on Tikiman's site about the fact that they changed the music loop at the Polynesian, and I'm absolutely heartbroken. As DW put it, it was the "soundtrack to our vacation". There's not much detail except "It's changed," and "It's staying".

Has anyone heard the new music? Please tell me it's still genuine Hawaiian music, and not the Jonas Brothers and Hannah Montana doing impressions of Hawaiian music.

Seriously though... Is it still good? Does it still set the mood like the old music did? How did you feel about it?

I'm such a dork for that music, I can't help it.

No Hannah Montana or Jonas Bros--the new loop is true Polynesian music. No, it's not the original, but it is much longer and very fitting for the resort. On the first couple of days, I was disappointed. By the end of our stay, the new loop was growing on me. It will take years of visiting to have it stuck in your head though, unlike the former, shorter loop which was quickly ingrained. Give it a chance and let us know what you think after your stay.

I will tell you what is annoying--the loud dance music played around the volcano pool during the kid games times. I like that music too, but it is the Polynesian after all. . . ;)

I agree about the Polynesian resort music loop. It was Polynesian music, but this trip especially I had been looking forward to the resort music that I knew and loved. The new music is fine and absolutely fits the theme of the resort, it's just different songs.

Tess: I have to comment on the part that I bolded. One afternoon I was soaking in the ambiance of the resort in the hammock in front of our room down the far end of the Hawaii building, and drowning out the Polynesian music was pop music! Now I have to say that it was pop music that normally I would've enjoyed listening to, but NOT in that setting. :confused3 At first it really bothered me, but then I remembered that I was on vacation, and that a lot of families were probably enjoying the poolside activities, so I let it go and thought "Serenity Now"... :cloud9: :lmao:

I've been going to the Poly for years but have never experienced the kid's activities at the pool. Can anyone tell me what the activities are and when they happen? Are they appropriate for younger children? It will be DS(6)'s second trip and the first for DS(2).

By the way this thread is the best!:thumbsup2

Thanks

I'm looking forward to my resort stay at Poly CL stay almost more than the Parks? I can't believe I said that out loud, I feel guilty--like Mickey Mouse is upset with me!! I'm just ready to bask in the sun at the Volcano pool beach with my family!!!! :cutie:

I believe they have Hula hoop contests (?) also create your own tikiman (15.00 Fee, take home with you) and Hula lessons but I believe they are in the GCH. That's really all I know, I'm sure some of these Poly veterans will chime in.. I would be interested also!! ;)

No, not weird at all. I love the CL and the Poly, and going there for me is a huge part of the overall experience, if not the most important part!

Have a safe and magical time!

The problem was when there were poopy pool issues and the crowd invaded the quiet pool space and the music did likewise. . .not fun. We don't hang out at the volcano pool often and as long as the 'twain didn't meet, we were good.

The hula hoop contest, as mentioned, line dancing, popular dance music, chalk drawing, crafts, and other things that I don't recall. The lifeguards did things with the kids from noon until 4:00 p.m. Ping pong table, volleyball and the like. . .the dance music played all four hours at the volcano pool and if there is an accident in that pool, it switched to the quiet pool. :(

Thanks everyone for your answers about the new music. I'm still rather disappointed, but I'm sure I'll get over it as soon as I get down there and settle into my vacation groove at the Volcano pool with a Banana Cabana and begin to absorb the new sounds.

You're not the only one! :rolleyes1  When we start planning a Disney vacation, my main focus is the resort. :sunny: And then eventually I think about the restaurants and the parks...(in that order. LOL).

Tess, I thought of the poopy pool incidents from your trip while I was swimming in the volcano pool last week.... It made me wonder, do the lifeguards just happen to notice something floating in the pool (isn't this a scene from Groundhog Day? :lmao: ) or do the parents say something???

Caddyshack - another Bill Murray movie!! But it turned out to be a Baby Ruth I think, right?

I just hate those poopy (or pukey) pool incidents. We haven't experienced it at Disney, luckily, but at local pools. So gross. When it's puke, I tend to be more understanding, cause you never know when you're kid is going to get sick. But when people don't use proper swim diapers or make sure their little ones go to the bathroom before swimming.....it's such a bummer for everyone else!

I'm sorry you're a :( about the activities, but my kids are going to be this :dance3:when they see them!

Even with swim diapers there is no guarantee that the poop is going to be contained. Two different times at our pool, the poop floated out of the diaper.

We have only used the pool at the Poly once. We are always either at a park, or napping. No time for the pool.
