Do you have to request the microwave before you get there or do you do it when you arrive. Stupid question, right? Sorry.

You know I was wondering this also and idoes anyone know is there a microwave in Captain Cooks that I could use if I needed to heat something up for my daughter.
Thanks,
pammyPoppins

OK, question of the 'Ohana fans...

My family has eaten at 'Ohana for breakfast before, but I booked the earliest seating I could (7:30a) for the last day of our trip before a morning at MK (DME will probably leave around 3:30...UGH! My heart hurts just thinking about that). I'm thinking it might be fun to hit rope drop. Do you think we should keep the ADR and just head over via monorail or boat after breakfast or skip it and head over to MK early? We've never done MK RD before, but it wouldn't be horrible if we missed it.

Long story short...keep 7:30a 'Ohana and hope to hit RD or ditch it and definitely hit RD on last day?

MsStinkerBelle, we live in the Philly burbs also and we will be at the Poly June 13th to June 19th, what are the dates you will be at the GF?
We live in Springfield.
PammyPoppins

if you keep ADR you will gobble down your food and look at your watch every 5 minutes. That is what we did. We made rope drop, but with a knot in our tummies due to the pace in which we ate.. Never again will we do that! My advice? I would cancel if you really want that rope drop.

We ate a Kona last night. Had a great waiter 7 people without ADR and it took less than 5 minutes to be seated.. Crowd level this week is moderate so far! Summer nightastic fireworks at MK were gorgeous! I won't ruin it if you are going while it is still going on. So not telling what the theme was.. They used the perimeter fireworks sort of like hallowishes and they lit up the sky for a while, seemed longer than wishes.

It seems they have changed the poly music loop. So not the same loop at all. May dissapoint some but I think it great! I will check boutiki for you guys for new merchandise and let y'all know. :lovestruc

Tess strange thing... The ducks are No longer saying "quack quack" they keep saying "Tess Tess Tess" you must feed em!?? :rotfl2:

You know, I just looked at your ticker, Tess, and realized that while I'm not staying at the Poly, I'll be at the GF around the same time you're at the Poly! :goodvibes We have a few dining reservations at the Poly, plus DD has two stays scheduled at the Neverland Club. Perhaps we'll run into each other. :thumbsup2

That would be fun--keep your eyes peeled, we spend a good bit of time around the resort when we vacation! It would be nice to meet you.

Okay Carl, how many Lapu Lapus had you had when you were hearing said ducks. :lmao: I try to follow the Disney rules and do not feed the ducks, but they are my morning friends. :rotfl:

Really looking forward to the new fireworks and hearing the "new" loop. Hope I won't be disappointed in the latter. :thumbsup2

How's my buddy Dick?

Hi Polynesian friends! :)

We have changed our ressie from the BC to the Poly so I'm joining in over here! We last stayed at the Poly in 2008 in a CL/LV room :lovestruc but this time we're booked in a garden view (sniff, sniff) Actually, I'm very happy to be there, the resort is beautiful and gv will be fine! It's just hard to go back after staying CL, it spoils you!! lol

We are celebrating our 30th anniversary during this trip. Our original plan was to go back to Hawaii, but since that didn't work out, we will stay at the next best thing!

I'm looking forward to seeing Summer Nightastic and Main St. Electrical Parade. And Lava Flows at the pool bar!

Is anyone going to be there at the end of July?

Us! Us! Come on over to this thread, if you haven't already! We have stayed CL in the past, but are really looking forward to doing GV to celebrate our 20th this summer! Maybe we'll see you there?!

Hiya! :goodvibes We live in Ambler!

We'll be at the GF from June 17th - June 24th. We arrive in Orlando on June 15th but we're going to visit relatives in North Florida (Putnam County) for two days before heading to Disney. We're actually having dinner at Kona Cafe on the 18th and breakfast at Kona on the 19th. :thumbsup2 Maybe we'll see you guys!

Wow, I did not realize there are so many Philly Poly lovers on this board? I hope we can remain friends after we win the Stanley Cup :lmao:

Love  the live updates! Keep it coming. I can't wait to see some pics :worship:

I certainly don't want to hijack the thread but would love to know...if you ever can't stay at the Poly (:scared1:) where do you stay?

The only reason I ask is that there may be a small chance that we'll need to downgrade if we don't have enough $$$ in our disney honeymoon registry...

I would love to know what runs a close second to the Poly...

Oh, not really a Don Ho or Tiny Bubbles type music fan. . .I'll reserve judgment until I hear it I guess. :confused3

Do you have to request the microwave before you get there or do you do it when you arrive. Stupid question, right? Sorry.

Asking for a microwave before you arrive is wasteing your time. Microwaves are limited and on a first come first serve basis and kept by mousekeeping. Just dial mousekeeping when you get into your room and ask for a microwave. If they have one, they will bring it to your room and plug it in for you. We have always had great luck with getting a microwave.

*IF* they are out of microwaves when you call, call again the next day(and so on) as someone using one may be checking out. There is a microwave in CC's you can use until a microwave becomes available.:goodvibes

Sure hope you don't have to downgrade for your honeymoon.:goodvibes Unfortunately, the Polynesian is a class of it's own. so nothing relaly compares - the South Seas theme, on the monorail, walking distance to TTC. If it comes to a definite change, then first would be to decide if you want to be in a MK resort - the non Tower GV rooms at the Contemporary have some very nice lake views and of course right on the monorail and walking distance to the Magic Kingdom.

The Wilderness Lodge, while not our cup of tea, is much loved by many - a courtyard room, with a lake view could be very nice and there is a boat to MK.

AKL Savannah view would be incredible - quite romantic, peaceful and lovely. A pool view would be very nice, and a greater savings.

If a moderate - CBR has a Caribbean theme with steel drum music being played throughout the resort - we've always enjoyed our stays there and it is very peaceful and romantic.

Lots of guests love POR, but those rooms are in need of a refurb, as would be French Quarter - both lovely resorts.
Do check out the faqs pages and see which appeals most - after all, it is your honeymoon - it will be wonderful wherever you stay!

Will keep fingers crossed for you and send lots of dust! :goodvibes

I think BC is my favorite after the Poly. A big change in terms of location, but we love the theme, SAB and the walk to Epcot.

Hope you don't have to give up the Poly, though!!

Congrats on your upcoming anniversary! Another family with a GV! lol We'll be just fine though, won't we? :thumbsup2

It looks like we are checking out the day you check in, so maybe we'll only see each other in passing in the GCH. Hope you have a wonderful trip!

Thanks for the link, too. It's a great group of people on these boards!

Poly newbie here, checking in on August 28th for 8 nights. Can somebody tell me if you have ever seen anybody decorate their resort door like people decorate the doors on cruises?? If so, can you tell me if magnets will stick to the door? My mother is going with us and I want to make it as special as I possibly can for her as she has not been to Disney before.

Congrats on yours, too!! I hope DH and I can make it back to the Poly for our 30th, too!

You BET we'll be just fine with GV! Fiji, Samoa and Tokelau have some lovely partial lagoon views at GV price; we have requested one of those. But even if we don't get that, we will be thrilled to be at the POLY!!

We'll be checking in around 10-11 am. We'll be the goofy family all smiles and giggles with the hawaiian shirts and kukui nut necklaces...and of course a lime-green mickey on my eeyore-colored purse!

Thanks carlnix for the tips & to everyone else! Sorry carlnix that we didn't get a chance to hang out. We loved the Poly for our 1st 2 nights.

Highlights of the Poly:

Perfect view from ground floor room 1510 of the castle w/ my own private hammock--well no one else seemed to use it. :rotfl:

Enjoying last night of Wishes w/ sweets & Amarula (African version of Baileys or Kahlua) in the a/c in the CL lounge.

Meeting the famous Chef Dick w/ his contagious giant smile. :)

Nina was the best concierge I've ever met, but they were all great.

Being steps away from the volcano pool & so close to the boatdock. The boat was great at night! We hardly used the monorail. We walked to the TTC.

Neverland Club crafts were wonderful for my DS 9.

Summer Nightastic Fireworks & MSEP back in all it's electrifying glory!

Lowlights:

Check in took forever even w/ online check in. We were arriving after 10pm & thought it would be faster. No one offered to take us over to the Hawaii building. We had to ask & bell services acted as if it was a major hassle.

The humidity!!!

We're at AKL now having fun--except that DS 13 woke up puking. Taking it easy & trying to keep DS 9 from going stir crazy--while still keeping a close eye on older son.

Hi everybody! Thanks for keeping me entertained last week. I was on vacation in Alaska and checked this thread all the time on my iphone but it took too much to reply. I REALLY enjoyed everyone's posts and can't wait to get to the Poly myself in September!!!!

So I LOVE Disneyworld but after taking our 2 young kids to Alaska, I appreciate it EVEN MORE. Don't get me wrong, I thought Alaska was really cool and the scenery can't be beat (if you are into the cold :lmao:) but the kids (AND I) have so much more fun at Disney. And DH has more fun when the wifey and kids have more fun :rotfl:

Carlnix30 - Sounds like you are having a great time! Have a Xfusion lemonade for me if they still make those (xfusion liquor, vodka, and light lemonade - lowcal, delicious, and pack a punch!)

I certainly don't want to hijack the thread but would love to know...if you ever can't stay at the Poly (:scared1:) where do you stay?

While I certainly hope you can go to the Poly (it is absolutely worth it - especially for your honeymoon!!), AKL is one of the less expensive Deluxe resorts. I actually adore AKL and if it were on the monorail, I'd stay there all the time but I do like the Poly's location better (and hence, the more expensive price to stay at the Poly). And for a moderate, I like Riverside.

Whatever you do - STAY ONSITE - it is my biggest piece of advice for anyone going to Disney. That way, you can drink and not have to designate a driver :rolleyes1

Thanks to everyone for the great advice!! Im thinking if we have to downgrade we'll go with WL ... but im scrimping and saving every penny for the Poly!! It's always been a dream to stay here and I doubt we will again (until we have little ones that is) ...c'mon pixie dust!!! :rotfl:
