ALOHA! The Poly FAQ: Fall 2010 Edition

Oh wow, I'm so sorry BreezysMom. This is just craptastic.

Hmmm. I just don't what advice to give. You didn't get your trip this year and really deserve a little magic because of the reason you had to cancel that trip () and I know how disappointing it would be to cancel again. And you would be spreading Breezy's absenteeism out over two school years instead of increasing the amount of school missed next year, so that has to be a good thing ...

However, if you cancel your spring trip you could probably add a few days & treats to your fall trip and still be ahead money-wise (eg. only one set of flights, fewer meals/nights than two trips combined ...).

Would it help to sit down and ask yourselves if you'd be happy with staying for a shorter time and with a standard room (since you enjoy the lounge & staying CL)? Can you make the budget work without feeling like you're cheating yourselves on the things that matter most? If the anwer is yes, then I would try to work that budget and go for it. After all it's WDW, right? But, if you think the trip might not be completely satisfying or you'd feel guilty about the money then maybe you should focus on your other holiday plans and really treat yourselves when you go back to the Poly this fall.

I don't know if this helps at all. So sorry. Good luck with your decision. I know it's a difficult one. :flower3:

Hello All!!

We will be staying at the poly Sept 24-Oct 1!! It's our family of 5, me, DH, DD9, DS6 and DD3 (she will be turning 4 on Oct. 1). We are staying CLGV. As many times as I have been do WDW (and it's been a lot, used to be AP holders when we lived in FL) I have never stayed at the Poly. DH stayed once when he was about 8. I am so excited and have been learning so much from all of you. We stayed at WL in May and LOVED it, but now that our "baby" isn't a baby anymore we needed somewhere that would sleep 5 in "beds" Looking forward to learning more!

:headache::rolleyes1 Spoken like a true man :lmao:

Speaking of cold winters....my furnace crapped out on us last night. So now I get the wonderful decision of scaling down our May trip or scrapping it all together. Even though BIL owns HVAC company, the unit we want is $$. :headache:

Airfare has been obnoxious (like 1K for the 3 of us) so thankfully we have not bought our tickets but I am at crossroads...what to do??? Drop down to stnd GV, skim a few days(from 8 to 5) and hope to find decent airfare or scrap it all together and add 2 extra days on our October trip???? Driving is not at all possible because we are tight with our dates with school and work.

Now, let me point out that I am going to Maryland for a wedding at the end of April, heading to south Florida for spring break (my Dad's treat ) and we rented a beautiful beach house in Michigan for a week this summer so we certainly are not neglecting ourselves of vacations at all.

Wonderful DH is leaving the decision up to me, but put me on a VERY tight budget which I hate when planning a Disney trip :snooty:

What would you do???

Keep in mind...staying anywhere else at Disney is not an option. Poly lover (snob:snooty:) to the core! We have no desire to go to Disney for spring break, instead of Sanibel. We want a beach vacation and since Dad is footing the bill, changing that trip is not an option.

This is the icing on the cake to my not so great week...so as I have tears in my eyes right now :sad1: :sad1: :sad1: I really could use some thoughts/validation/advice. Because in my heart of hearts, I know I should just scrap it but we have put this trip off so many times. I feel like I keep getting dumped by a boyfriend and then getting sucked back by his charms and then dumped again......:lmao: Horribly analogy, I know!

Oh no! I'm so sorry to hear this. I know I can say if I was in your shoes I would scale back and still go, but I've been known to stretch the budget to get what I really want instead of taking the more responsible route. :rolleyes1

Maybe we'll run into you! We'll be at the Poly September 27-October 2 (possibly with my mom who turns, well, a little older than four on October 1) CLTPV after two nights at WL. You'll LOVE the Poly!! It's our Disney home. :goodvibes

This will be our first time in the Polynesian resort our family didn't stay in this resort before! Poly is now my favorite resort!

Oh my goodness! what a terrible decision to have to make!!!

As a hardcore diser I would scale the trip back and still go! You could probably use a little disney/poly magic right now!

Come join my pity party :sad2::sad2::sad2:

I decided to wait until October instead of going for a shorter trip. My rational is that we really enjoy our resort time, and if I am going to spend the $$ to stay at the Poly, even for 5 nights, I want to have my Poly time. There is so much going on from April on in our lives that the time will fly.

Really, the fact that I just drained our savings account of our May trip money helped me make the decision.

I love Disney in October, I love MNSSHP so what is another 6 months :headache:

So let's do a YEA! Disney in October dance :dance3: It is going to be fun, fun fun!!!

Too bad it's not September!

Sorry you had to postpone the trip yet again, but hopefully your Fall trip will be extra magical. You definitely deserve it.

I'm sorry that you have to delay your trip...but good news is that it's a delay, not a permanent cancellation :)

I hope you have a great time in October. Looks like we will just miss you by a few weeks.

Aww shucks! Sorry to hear about the delay but I would have done the same thing. We love the resort time as well and this past trip already cutting it short from our snow we didn't get to do nearly as much as we would have liked in the parks or resort, and while it was great, it just wasn't relaxing. I think postponing and really being able to do it up when you there is SO worth waiting for. :cloud9: And like you mentioned earlier you have so much other stuff going on, it was definitely the better decision to make (although hard I'm sure). :grouphug:

Now you just need to start planning for MNSSHP! :wizard:

Sounds like a plan that you can live with despite the sadness at another set back. You're right though, the time will fly with your other vacations scheduled. I'm just sorry that we will miss one another in October. :sad1:

Well I watched video on Youtube of Wishes from the Poly Beach and now I am just so excited!!!! It was beautiful!
Confession time.. in all of our Disney trips we have never once stayed for Fireworks:scared1:
Hubby isn't a huge fan and we never wanted to fight the exiting crowds afterwards. So the first time I see Disney fireworks will be on the Poly beach:goodvibes

Now I did see one really cool show put on by the American Fireworks Association over the castle .. but it doesn't really count because I watched it from the bus leaving the park:rolleyes1

Sorry you've had to postpone again. I know you were really looking forward to a Poly getaway. Maybe you could do a few things to really spoil yourselves in October. And yes, it is going to be fun, fun, fun! Can't wait to hang out with you guys. Our family will be celebrating a few things and I'm sure by then you guys will be up for some Disney partying too!

I've been hearing rumors of wristbands being back at the pools. Has anyone stayed recently that can confirm this? I really hope thta is the case!:yay:
