ALOHA! The Poly FAQ: Fall 2010 Edition

Is there someplace i can find a list of the movies they play on the beach between Poly and GF? Also does anyone know what time they usually start? Trying to plan it one night during out trip. Thanks!

Hello all. First time poster on this thread but I've been reading the past few months since we've booked the Poly. We will be checking in 2 weeks from today1 :cool1:

I have two quick questions. What type of shampoo / conditioner does that Poly provide? My 12 YO DD has a ton of thick hair and if she doesn't use a good quality shampoo it leaves her hair in a ratty, tangled, frizzy mess.

Also I want to request the Tahiti building and let them know we'll be arriving via ME at 9:00 AM just in case there's a possibility of room being ready (though 2 days after Thanksgiving on weekend I'm not expecting it will be). What's the best way to make these requests? Call reservations or just make a note when I do online check in next week?

We are super excited. We haven't been to WDW for several years and our first time staying on property.

We've had a very rough 3 year period and we are celebrating a personal triumph!:goodvibes

The shampoo, and conditioner are H20 plus. I really like it. It smells great.

You can call CRO and add the room request. There isn't a way to add room requests during online check in.

They start at 9:00. This is the list from October, so they may have changed them for November.

10/2 The Princess and the Frog
10/9 Race to Witch Mountain
10/16 Alice in Wonderland
10/23 G-Force
10/30 The Princess Diaries 2

We tripped on a pin code and now we're going to the Poly from January 28 - February 1, 2011!

I planned my last trip for a solid year, so this feels like last-minute to me, but we got a pin code in the mail yesterday, and I went to AAA this morning and booked four Theme Park View nights, complete with Park Hopper passes and DDP! I made my ADRs before I even got confirmation that our plane tix had been booked!

We've requested Tahiti, where we stayed last time, which we loved because of its proximity to the TTC. I swear, we saved miles of walking.

Anyway, I just thought I'd say hey -- it's always nice to be among folks who understand just how gosh darn excited we are to be going back to the Poly!

Thank you! The H2O line is the same they have at the Grand Californian at DL -- good stuff! In fact after we stayed there I even bought some for myself.

DH suffered a grade 3 calf tear 6 weeks ago & is still limping quite a bit. (I'm begging him to use an ECV, but he doesn't want to.) :confused3 Anyway, we paid for a garden view room for our first 7 nights, then a theme park view on our final (8th) night.

Which longhouse should we suggest for the first part/last night of our trip? Thanks for your help...we are excited beyond belief!!

I have some Captain Cook's questions. :) I know many have posted that the touch-sreen ordering can be confusing as well as when and where to pay. Could someone please walk me through the process? I'm guessing you use the screens for just cooked food items, not drinks, snacks or Dole whip.

We'll be there in less than 3 weeks (yay) and hope to head over for breakfast by 7:30 most mornings so we can be on our way to a park by 8:15. Is that realistic? How busy should we expect it to be at that time?

I found this on YouTube, I hope it helps: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cMxPOjhsZMs&feature=fvsr

We usually would have one person from our party go and pick up breakfast and bring it back to the room. Captain Cooks can get very busy and it may be difficult to get a table. This made it easier for us in the morning. We only ate there once during our whole last trip for breakfast and it was not fun trying to get an inside table.

Thanks for the video - it was good to see how it works and it sure doesn't seem that hard. :) We have considered having breakfast in our room - it will depend on how far from the GCH our room is. We haven't made any requests other than a full balcony - we're leaving it to the Tiki Gods and maybe some pixiedust: for our DD wearing her sweet sixteen button.

Our teenager loved being in Samoa...I don't know if I would leave it up to the Tiki Gods...:sad2:! They book the rooms a few days before you even get there so I don't know if the button will help at that point. Birthday Wishes to your DD - I hope she has a special day at WDW!

I am supposed to be checking into the Poly today for a mommy getaway....but I had to cancel my trip yesterday:sad2::sad1:..my son woke up in the middle of the night w/a stomach bug :sick:and I couldn't leave him home w/daddy and another child who will most likely get it.....

I am so disappointed that I was unable to get my mommy only time at the Poly, but we are going as a family in July so now I have a long, long wait, but I know it will be worth it.

I hope that everyone else there has fun for me....

Wow! You are a good wife! My DH sure wouldn't cancel a business trip to stay home and help me w/ a sick child, so I would prob just have let him handle it unless it was more serious than a little vomit..
Sorry you missed out on your trip.

I posted this on the drinking thread too but it might have gotten swallowed in the posts. Can someone tell me what the current price of a Lapu Lapu is? It's not on the menu's anywere... Thanks!

I want to say my DH told me $14.

If my memory serves me right you can get a Lapu lapu at the pool bar for less money and all the booze but without being served in a pineapple just a plastic cup.

Hi Everyone!

I heard through the grapevine (his Facebook page) that Tiki Steve will be updating his site soon with some new Poly news! He hinted that the Poly is possibly going to start or has started using wrist bands for the pool

I sure hope this is true!! :worship: :worship:

I look forward to hearing any other news Steve has to report! :surfweb:

My countdown is clicking away :woohoo:

Thank you....it wasn't a business trip, so I felt guilty to begin with for needing "me" time. My fear was the whole house would get it or god forbid I did while there for 3 days and I would hate to blow all that money to be sick in a hotel. I have to say the rest of us are ok (Thus far) so now I am really thinking what an idiot I was to not go :sad2:. Hubby was fine w/me leaving, I just didn't want to leave the little guy.

We are going as a family to the Poly in July so I will just have to wait a little longer....I am going to plan a "me" day while we are there to make up for it :)

I saw that too. Didn't someone report on here that while they were there the lifeguards were checking room keys on a busy day? Maybe I'm dreaming, but I thought I had read it on this thread recently. :confused3

Gotta' love a clicking down ticker!:cool1:

Read the same thing....can we also start monitoring the "holding chairs" outlaws too??? It's like making ADRs and not using them....
