ALOHA! The Poly FAQ: Fall 2010 Edition

I have some Captain Cook's questions. :) I know many have posted that the touch-sreen ordering can be confusing as well as when and where to pay. Could someone please walk me through the process? I'm guessing you use the screens for just cooked food items, not drinks, snacks or Dole whip.

We'll be there in less than 3 weeks (yay) and hope to head over for breakfast by 7:30 most mornings so we can be on our way to a park by 8:15. Is that realistic? How busy should we expect it to be at that time?

For everyone leaving soon, have a fantastic time and safe travels!!
We'll be right behind you!!

You are correct about the touch screen ordering. The touch screen is used to order menu items. It really is quite simple--choose an order station, follow the on screen instructions by selecting items from the touch screen menu. A receipt will print out. You may then choose your self-serve items and proceed to the register which is in the center of the ordering/self-serve area of CC's. Pay the cashier and wait for your menu items # to be called. There really isn't anything complicated or confusing.

Dole Whip cups and individual soda cups are handled by the cashiers--request, pay, and fill.

Your timing for breakfast would be cutting it tight, but doable given the season I guess. I, personally, would allow an hour from ordering to finishing the breakfast just in case you hit a rush. You will be able to judge better for yourself after your first breakfast.

Have fun! Wish we were headed back sooner. . . :sad1:

3 more sleeps and I will be checking in!

For those of you who have used Magical Express from MCO, how long on average has it taken you to get from MCO to the Poly? Our flight arrives at 2:00 on Sunday afternoon. I told my mom that we shouldn't expect to be at the Poly until 4pm. I figured 2 hours because then anything before that will feel like a bonus. Just wondering what others' experience is...

We never took more than 30-45 minutes to get out of Capt Cooks in the AM. But there were only three of us.

Also, it took us about 1 1/2 hour from flight landing to hotel. Allowing 2 hours should give you wiggle room.

PS, someone just HAD to mention Dole Whips, didn't they? Sigh... (just back and no new trips planned..)

Ride on ME took about 90 minutes from touch down to hotel. But it seemed soooooooo much longer. If you catch the bus right before one is leaving for our resort, I would think you could do it in 60 minutes. I could envision a two hour wait and ride too so plan on that. We were the first resort out of two or three on our bus, not sure if it is always that way for the poly. Best of luck!

Anyone staying cl could you please give a full report when you get back?

We've also stayed BC or YC CL and now we're doing a split Poly CL/BC CL stay and I'm trying to make sure we made the right decision.

Thanks so much!

Just got back Tuesday from 4 nights Poly CL. LOVED it. Cast members were great and the food was nice. Usually 2 warm and 1 cold along with fruit and cheese and crackers plus PBJ and hummus and pita bread. Breakfast was usually 4 cereals, hot oatmeal with all th goodies bagels, toast, muffins and a danish. Midday snacks were gold fish, yogurt pretezl and oatmeal and chocolate chip cookies. Alway had at midday sodas available and of course, tea, lemonade, cranberry juice and YUMMO orange, guava, passion fruit juice. I drank my self silly from that stuff. To be able to see the fireworks from the CL building is Amazing:) We Loved our time at the Hawaii building. I am sure that you will too.

I posted this on the drinking thread too but it might have gotten swallowed in the posts. Can someone tell me what the current price of a Lapu Lapu is? It's not on the menu's anywere... Thanks!

$12 or $14? Somewhere around there. Sounds expensive but it's like two drinks in one. :thumbsup2 I can't imagine you'd need a second! :cool2:

I was guessing around $10, but that is without the pineapple cup and from Barefoot Bar vs Tambu. Getting the Lapu Lapu in the pineapple adds several dollars to the price.

Just got our trip package in the mail today. One month from tomorrow we will be arriving for our first stay at the POLY! YAY!!! :yay:

Thank you for this update! Heading to CL in just three weeks!! Can you tell me a little about evening dessert service? What kinds of foods were offered? Drinks? Also, do you remember enough about the evening food menu to comment on the accuracy of the one that is posted on this thread?

THANKS!!! :goodvibes

Hello all. First time poster on this thread but I've been reading the past few months since we've booked the Poly. We will be checking in 2 weeks from today1 :cool1:

I have two quick questions. What type of shampoo / conditioner does that Poly provide? My 12 YO DD has a ton of thick hair and if she doesn't use a good quality shampoo it leaves her hair in a ratty, tangled, frizzy mess.

Also I want to request the Tahiti building and let them know we'll be arriving via ME at 9:00 AM just in case there's a possibility of room being ready (though 2 days after Thanksgiving on weekend I'm not expecting it will be). What's the best way to make these requests? Call reservations or just make a note when I do online check in next week?

We are super excited. We haven't been to WDW for several years and our first time staying on property.

We've had a very rough 3 year period and we are celebrating a personal triumph!:goodvibes

I am supposed to be checking into the Poly today for a mommy getaway....but I had to cancel my trip yesterday:sad2::sad1:..my son woke up in the middle of the night w/a stomach bug :sick:and I couldn't leave him home w/daddy and another child who will most likely get it.....

I am so disappointed that I was unable to get my mommy only time at the Poly, but we are going as a family in July so now I have a long, long wait, but I know it will be worth it.

I hope that everyone else there has fun for me....
