ALOHA! The Poly FAQ: Fall 2010 Edition

:scared1: it's our last afternoon at the Poly pool, friends!:sad2: Guitarob is getting drinks for us, so we can drown our sorrows...

This has been a terrific trip!

Our last day tradition before getting on the ME bus is to have a drink either at the Poly pool or Tambu lounge. Can't quite explain the mixture of happy/sad feelings going on at the same time :confused3 - Have a safe trip home. Looking forward to your trip report.

That is the worst thing about these trips! They have to end :sad::sad:

I am so happy to hear you had a great time. Cheers! :drinking1

Oh, boooooooo! Time at the Poly always goes too fast. :sad1: We are just now working out of our "Plummet" (which started 10 days ago when we returned home).

Safe travels, Poly friends!

Ahh....the last day at WDW/Polynesian... "it's the best of times, it's the worst of times".... :sunny: :sad1:

P.S. Yes, DROWN those sorrows in a good drink! Put off the PDD ("Post-Disney-Depression") for a while longer!! :cool2:

I hate it when that happens (the last pool day, not the drinks :yay:). :sad1:

I was serious, and am glad to see I'm not the only pocket-sized planner! :thumbsup2 I just use a small size font and will include info on front and back. Some trips I get in an ultra-planning mode and include general touring plans on 4-5 cards. This trip I will probably go more basic and have 1-2 cards with a daily schedule, park selections, parade/fireworks times, ADR times/conf #s, phone numbers of kids' schools to call them in absent :rolleyes1, plus some cute Disney clipart pics. I guess my basic doesn't sound that basic. :rotfl: It's all part of the anticipation fun for me! :woohoo: I've had some friends make fun of me, but good ol' DH swears by my planning. :lovestruc

PS We'll be there from the 16th-24th and are counting down right with ya! :cool1:

My planner last time was 4x6 card sized. I had it laminated. Hubby totally rolled his eyes at me! But if it was up to him we would stand in the middle of the park all day wondering what to do next. And we would definitely have no ADRs!

I am so excited! We leave tomorrow for 4 nights at AKL, then head over and check into the Poly on Wednesday!! I can't wait!

Just under a month to go until we arrive at the Poly!

Does anyone know if there is lighting on the patios outside the rooms? DH and I will be spending time out there in the evenings after the kids go to bed and would like to read.

Thanks:goodvibes

We didn't notice any in the Hawaii building. We downloaded the flashlight app for our phones though and just used that for a few.

Well, we only have 1 1/2 days left. We cant believe its been 9 days already :scared1: We are usually saying by now that we had a good time, but are ready to go home. This time we just plain can't believe that it is almost over. It has been such a wonderful trip. OH Well, there's always planning for next year

2 weeks exactly until we arrive at the Polynesian! Yes Yes Yes!!

I remember back in March when I won the trip and I thought it would NEVER come and now here we are 2 weeks away from leaving crummy 'ol Michigan. ... Going to the most wonderful place on the entire planet.

I spent the past few days watching past Disney World commercials on YouTube. Boy are those things addictive! Everyone has seen the one with "Walt" and his parents? I cried like a big baby when I saw that one!

I can't believe it's been 8 months yesterday since we checked into our 1st ever trip to the Poly (and got engaged:love:) I miss the Poly so much:sad1:

Oh great, now I have to go drown my sorrows, too, LOL!

Don't think so. I always bring an inexpensive book light - works for reading outside or even in bed once the kids are asleep!

Wow - congrats on winning a Poly trip!!! That would be great!! And only 2 weeks to go ... hope that time flies by!

There is so much invaluable info on here, thank you all for sharing.

This coming trip will be my first stay at the Poly, I am excited beyond words--it's my dream resort and I couldn't help but book it when I got the 40% off PIN.:cool1: We started out staying off site, then at the Values when they were first built, then Mods for the last 5 stays, now... just afraid that I won't be able to go back to a Mod once I'm spoiled by Deluxe....:rotfl:

I'm sure it's been mentioned/asked before, but I was wondering if all the rooms had a patio or balcony? I have a two year old and would like a room with a patio or balcony so we can relax outside while she naps in the afternoons.

If I call back and add a patio/balcony request to my ressie, what do you think my chances are of getting it? We are going the week before Thanksgiving.

TIA for all the help!

Most of the buildings do not have balconies on the 2nd floor. Those are: Aotearoa, Fiji, Hawaii (club level only), Niue, Rarotonga, Samoa, Tokelau, and Tuvalu. Rapa Nui, Tahiti and Tonga (suites only) do have 2nd floor balconies. I'd say that if a patio/balcony is your only request, you have an EXCELLENT chance of getting it - there's many more rooms WITH one of those than without. We've done 2 trips with nappers, and while on our beach vacations we request a high floor for the view (we also have a suite, so having a separate area is not impt), at the Poly we request first floor. DH and I would sit outside, which of course you can do with either, but 1st floor, we could take turns going for a walk, going to get a snack, etc. Without disturbing the sleepers at all. This upcoming trip, no nappers anymore, but we're still requesting 1st floor (Tokelau, east side, specifically), as we feel having the patio opening to a grassy area just gives us more "room" for the 7 nights. Kids can play out there while I finish getting ready, etc. 1 week in just a room can feel a bit cramped sometimes!!

Thank you so very much, sandym718: I think I will call today and request first floor... Am I correct in understanding that all rooms on the first floor have a patio?
(Oh, the wonders of a WDW vacation--when you think you've finally got it all figured out at one resort (we love CSR)...it's time to change resorts!)

:)
