ALOHA! The Poly FAQ: Fall 2010 Edition

I have actually seen a number of different responses to this question so I figured I would ask the Poly People since we are staying there...

We will be five people and I was hoping to not have to pack beach towels. I have been told you can get by at the Poly pool using the towels poolside, but if you go to the waterparks, you will need to bring your own towels (you get charged for them at the waterparks?).

Any help/suggestions would be appreciated.

Just go to the boat rental counter (back side of volcano pool) and show them your id. We got a key for 2 lockers--1 men's and 1 women's--on checkout day and it was convenient.

Please tell me more about the lockers! We're checking in early on the morning of DD's birthday and plan to head to MK after breakfast at 'Ohana. We'd like to spend some time at the pool after that and were wondering how to manage it if our room isn't ready. This sounds like the perfect solution of where to put our valuables.

Look I got me a POLY ticker!!!:dance3:

I can't believe that it is almost here! We have told the kids However, they have no idea we are going to the POLY for our last 5 days:dance3::dance3::dance3: It will be my oldest DD's birthday and her favorite character is Stitch and this was her very first Disney movie...so I keep saying this is our Lilo and Stitch surprise birthday trip...

DD thinks she knows, but when we check in to the POLY, she will get why it is called the Lilo and Stitch Surprise Birthday Trip! :yay::dance3::yay:

I just can't stop dancing!:dance3::dance3::dance3:

I have got her several stitch Birthday gifts, and we made Birthday shirts with Stitch...I am just getting so exited!!! The kids have been furiously coloring and cutting out Disney pictures to decorate our window!!! How darn cute is that!:goodvibes

Woohoo!! :dance3: How stinkin cute about coloring the pictures! :lovestruc How old are your kids? We're there at the same time, I'm sure well come across each other while at the pool. :)

Towels are provided at the resort pools. We never packed towels for the water parks. Instead, we would take towels from our resort pool to the water park and return them to the towel return when we were finished. It was never a problem. If you get towels at the water park, there is a "rental" fee as I recall.

I would simply borrow them from the Polynesian's pools and return them at day's end.

Does your entire party need to be present when you check in club level? We're planning on getting there early in the morning, so we were hoping I could just check us in, and the "boys" could head straight over to MK. Just wondering if there's any reason they'd need all of us. :confused3

Nope, you can assign charging privileges (or not) to their room keys and take them with you. Our kids headed to EPCOT while we checked in and unpacked.

Great - thank you!

Hi everyone! I'm back from 12 days at the Polynesian!

I have to say, I loved it! I was really skeptical about the poly because there seems to be such mixed reviews, some people love it and some hate it and some think it's really rundown, over-crowded, etc. but I enjoyed my stay and wouldn't hesitate to stay there again.

I'll write a better review later and add some pictures, but I'm to wiped out to do that right now. If anyone has specific questions, I'll try to answer them in my review later.

Sure! My theory is the more time the better! We started out going to disney world for 3-4 days at a time, then worked our way up to a week, then 10 days, now 12 days. Hopefully next time we will do a full two weeks, we only go once a year so we try to make sure we spend a lot of time there. I think 10 days is a great vacation, plenty long enough to enjoy the parks and the amenities at the hotel. You'll have an amazing time!

Welcome back and I'm glad to hear that you loved the Polynesian! :sunny: Looking forward to reading more about your trip! :surfweb:

10 days sounds good to me! :yay: Is it enough time? I personally could live at the Polynesian for 6 months and still not think it's enough time. But yes, 10 days sounds like a nice long vacation!

Anyone who recently stayed club level at the Polynesian want to relate their experiences?

I've read some disturbing reviews on allears.net and in the club thread on this forum.

Thank you!

One thing that I've learned over the years is that, no matter how long the trip is... It is never long enough. :goodvibes

Enjoy your trip, you'll have a blast!

If you go back to the early pages of this thread, guitarob has posted my review under the Hawaii longhouse link. Some felt it was a negative review, but it wasn't intended to be so--merely an observation based upon many years experience. We would go back to CL at the Polynesian in a heart beat.

Yeah!! I can't wait to read your review. I admit, I was starting to worry about all the bad reviews lately too. But no changing anything now, we head out in the morning, LOL.

I hope so, LOL. We leave in the morning for 11 days (although two of ours will be taken up with travel). Maybe we will run into you at the Poly!

LOL - I have a feeling it will be that way for us too.

:cool1: ... we've booked CL for our anniversary trip in October and can't wait!! :goodvibes

One quick question - If we arrive at the Poly around 8:30 am on our first day would that give us enough time to get checked in and make our 9:10 am ADR at Kona?

Cutting it close, but that early in the a.m., you should get checked in without a wait. Just let the CM checking you in know you have an ADR. You can always finish the process later if need be.
