(Almost) Solo in May - Update 11/17 - Not sure if I'd call that Pixie Dust!

Loving your report Brook! :thumbsup2 and how scary with that lady! Thank God she was okay!

There are so many things I want to see and do as an adult only trip next month for the AEP but I know I won't have the time for it.. I need to go again by myself sometime..

I can totally understand why you were so upset after you helped the lady who had the seizure. As you may recall, John has epilepsy and seeing him have seizures is one of the worst things I have even witnessed. I always feel so helpless. I commend you for taking the time to help her out even if you felt as if you had no idea what you were doing.

Now, on to the good stuff. Wasn't the new Star Tours cool!?! I loved the refurb.

I haven't seen the Beauty and the Beast show in quite a few years but feel the need to go back now that I've seen your pictures.

Hum....what else did I want to comment on. Oh yeah, I wouldn't have waited 30 minutes in the Fastpass line for Toy Story Mania either. Having said that, I do like the attraction itself. Hopefully, the recipients of your Fastpasses figured out how valuable those Fastpasses were that you gave them.

I left off as Sarah and I were leaving DHS and headed toward Epcot. I'm sure we took the very lovely boat ride between, because I have a love relationship with that boat.

Except in August when it's 40 million degrees out.

Then I don't like it one bit!

Anyway, we entered through the World Showcase and began our tour around! We ambled through the gift shops of Morocco.

IMG0472-L.jpg

And Japan.

IMG0473-L.jpg

Inside the giant Japan gift shop, I'm too lazy at the moment to look up the correct spelling of it, we found these fans.

It was a hot day.

The fans were less than $5.

We each walked away with one! Awesome buy!

IMG0474-L.jpg

And the Cast Members will write your name on them for free! (Mine says "Happy Birthday Brook") How very cool. Literally. This baby pumped out some serious air. It now sits on a shelf as a decoration in my house!

IMG0475-L.jpg

America. Sarah hadn't seen the most awesome Voices of Liberty, as her DH never stopped running during their trip.

IMG0478-L.jpg

Then Italy. Sarah really liked this mask, but the price tag was nutty!

IMG0480-L.jpg

IMG0481-L.jpg

Germany. We shared

IMG0483-L.jpg

and

IMG0482-L.jpg

Both were divine.

But, as I recently learned - this shop is not authentic in the least. Which is sad. Sure, it's a delicious stop, but surely they could have found something equally as tasty and authentic.

IMG0484-L.jpg

Hopefully in 2014 I will visit Germany. That's the plan anyway.

China.

IMG0485-L.jpg

IMG0490-L.jpg

The Fish with a Human Head. In traditional Chinese culture a fish is associated with wealth because they sound the same in the Chinese language. The fish here resembles a carp, which is the symbol for marital harmony. Disney is so educational!

IMG0492-L.jpg

I always look at the tea sets. I want one, but seriously have NO use. Maybe someday.

IMG0494-L.jpg

Someday I WILL buy me a piece of this:

IMG0496-L.jpg

Not sure if it will be at Epcot, but I do love jade jewelery and will own a piece someday!

Norway!

IMG0497-L.jpg

I might get this on some trip. I would like a scent from Epcot to remind me of my trips.

IMG0498-L.jpg

First time ever posing with the troll!

IMG0500-L.jpg

IMG0502-L.jpg

IMG0504-L.jpg

Love you La Cantina!

And soon we were out of the World Showcase. I was happy to see these guys since Mater was not out yet during our F&GF trip back in March.

IMG0505-L.jpg

And we paused to watch my fountain.

IMG0508-L.jpg

Just looking at this picture, I can hear the music. Happy sigh.

Next up: Not sure if I'd call that Pixie Dust...

Brook, what fun pictures of your shopping trip through World Showcase.

I love those little fans and always think I'll buy myself one and then forget. Maybe I'll get one for me and the girls in January. :goodvibes

I did not realize that the caramel shop was NOT authentic; that is a tad disappointing.

Love the Epcot fountain. :)

They keep you busyyyyy at the AEP! But, you do get some evenings free, which is fantastic. Are you staying any extra days?

Oh my goodness Lisa. I cannot even fathom the fear that must run through you seeing your husband go through that. A stranger is one thing, the person in life you are closest to is another.:hug::hug::hug: I'm in tears just thinking about it!

LOVE the new Star Tours! I cannot even remember how many times we rode in August! I can't wait to ride again!

I do like TSMM too - but not enough to wait very long for it when the time is tickin' away! If we had more time to spare I wouldn't have thought twice. But Epcot was calling to us!

Love the Epcot fountain. :)

It would be a perfect gift for the girls! It's cheap, so if it gets lost or broke, no big deal - plus they are very girly and fun! Lots of different patterns to choose from too. I should have taken a picture of Sarah's - but as you can tell, my pictures were so limited that day due to a dying camera battery. 25 pictures and we are through the entire World Showcase just doesn't jive with this girl! :rotfl:

Magdalene (do you read her TRs?) from Germany explained about the caramel shop. It is a shame! I cannot skip it even still though. It's too good.

I'm staying until Saturday evening.. my flights at 6:10.. how early is ME again? like 3 hours before your flight?

And we get done pretty early on Friday right? before noon? So I should have all day Friday and most of Saturday morning to see stuff.. I just need to save a park ticket for that Saturday.. do we use our park ticket for the dinner party in Epcot on that first day?

World Showcase will forever be my favorite place to explore! I've even specially requested we go there for my 25th birthday celebration (of course the alcohol may have something to do with that too :lmao: ). I didn't know they sold jade in China... so gorgeous! One of my friends studied abroad in Hong Kong and he brought me back a jade necklace. I love it so!

LOVE that fan from Japan, I might have to invest in one of those on my next trip because I am always hot!

Sad to hear about the caramel shop in Germany, but authentic or not, the caramel corn is pretty darn yummy!

Love the shots. You got some unique angles. As I am looking at my pictures from our last trip, I am so mad at the lack of things I took pictures of and then took too many of others. :)

No, You actually never use your ticket for anything done with the group.

What a fun shopping trip through World Showcase!

I love the fan, I've always wondered if they would be worth it on a hot Disney day and it sounds like they are!

I especially love the viking hat you are wearing! :thumbsup2

I'm sorry, your fountain? I have to disagree.... :lmao:

Oh man, how I love World Showcase! Totally agree about the boat except I've ONLY been on it when it's super hot so I have just a hate relationship with it! Haha!! Very cool about the fan....I might just have to get me one of those on my next trip. Although, I doubt I will need it in February. Did you get any Yan Yans? :)

I enjoyed the walk through WS today.

How lovely to browse and snack your way through the world. :goodvibes

I still have a snack from the caramel shop that I am nibbling on.

OMG that caramel corn is YUMMMMMM! Wish I had some now. Someday I want to go to Epcot WS without kids. There is so much I want to see(and taste) that I haven't because DS is just not that interested.

I love those fans, and for only $5, that's a really cute souvenir! Looks like you guys had a great time in World Showcase!

Adorable fan!!! Love the pics of you in Norway! :lmao: One day I will try the caramel popcorn -- even if it's not authentic (which I didn't know). ;)

I didn't know that about the fish and wealth symbolism -- you're right -- Disney can be very educational. :goodvibes

I got a book about the Chinese Tomb Warriors at Brooklynn's school book fair. I have not had a chance to read it yet, but hopefully I will during the Christmas break.

The fountain is lovely, as always. You have to have stood there in the midst of the water spraying and the music playing and the Epcot atmosphere to really appreciate the picture. Even though it is not an area filled with beautiful plants or lavish art work or small details - it's just a bunch of concrete and water - it is a special spot in Disney World.

I meant to get a Voices of Liberty CD on the October trip, and I forgot all about it. We even sat in America for a while so Brooklynn could color, and never hit me. Stupid, stupid me! :sad2:

Good idea to stay an extra day! Then you can squeeze in a few things you didn't have time for. I would of had a hard time leaving on Friday right after graduation.

And yep, ME is 3 hours before your flight, so you will get picked up around 3 PM.

And no, we never had to use our park ticket - mine went COMPLETELY unused because I have an AP! I wish I could have saved it for another time. We went in through backstage to Epcot for the first night (even though we were just over at the YC/BC we took the bus). And even for our Blizzard Beach tour they let us through the gate.

I can't wait to see your fountain! :thumbsup2

 Sooooo soon now too!!! I wish I could fit in your suitcase! I have serious Disney withdrawals right now!

They do! It's expensive, but beautiful. My Mom has a pair of jade earrings that I have hinted to her, more than a couple times, I want! Someday I'll just make my DH buy me some though. ;)

LOVE that fan from Japan, I might have to invest in one of those on my next trip because I am always hot!

Sad to hear about the caramel shop in Germany, but authentic or not, the caramel corn is pretty darn yummy!

Isn't it cute? They have a ton of designs too. And it works awesome. I was excited to find my cheap, and useful, buy!

Love the shots. You got some unique angles. As I am looking at my pictures from our last trip, I am so mad at the lack of things I took pictures of and then took too many of others. :)

No, You actually never use your ticket for anything done with the group.

I try to always find a new angle of the things I have taken a zillion pictures of in the past already. Except the Castle. Must have a straight on shot of that. :goodvibes (and then some unique ones too!)

Sounds like you have a good reason for another trip. LOL Let's all cross our fingers for the Fantasy, right?!

What a fun shopping trip through World Showcase!

I love the fan, I've always wondered if they would be worth it on a hot Disney day and it sounds like they are!

I especially love the viking hat you are wearing! :thumbsup2

They are totally worth it! They really do work very well. The biggest negative is that they don't fold up, so you have to either slide them into a bag or carry them. I remember fanning myself with it in the store and it feeling sooooo good on that hot day!

Isn't that Viking hat stunning? :rotfl2:

I'm sorry, your fountain? I have to disagree.... :lmao:

 Yes MY fountain! ;)

The boat is miserable when it's hot out. Seriously, put a fan up in there or something! Ughhhh. We took in August and I swear I almost melted. It was packed, no where to sit. I squeezed myself outside in hopes for a breeze.

And nope, no Yan Yans. I've never actually tried them. But I should. They always look good! I do need to run to the grocery store later, maybe I'll pick some up. I want to try some crazy candy sometime, but I never can decide. I looked for some that I knew was good (and not available down the street LOL), but I couldn't find it.

I enjoyed the walk through WS today.

How lovely to browse and snack your way through the world. :goodvibes

I still have a snack from the caramel shop that I am nibbling on.

It really was a great way to see the WS! It was so strange not stopping to color, or being begged for things in the gift shops though.

OMG that caramel corn is YUMMMMMM! Wish I had some now. Someday I want to go to Epcot WS without kids. There is so much I want to see(and taste) that I haven't because DS is just not that interested.

I'm thankful Henry is still at the age where he thinks just going into a gift shop is fun. I know that will soon pass and he will probably go through the stage where he doesn't enjoy the World Showcase. I'm glad they added the Kim Possible stuff to try and interest kids more though.

I love those fans, and for only $5, that's a really cute souvenir! Looks like you guys had a great time in World Showcase!

Exactly! A cheap, useful, and cute souvie! I tried to take pictures of other $5 or less souvenirs in August too. I think it could make for an interesting article.

Adorable fan!!! Love the pics of you in Norway! :lmao: One day I will try the caramel popcorn -- even if it's not authentic (which I didn't know). ;)

I didn't know that about the fish and wealth symbolism -- you're right -- Disney can be very educational. :goodvibes

The Viking hat is quite stunning, isn't it? :rotfl: I cannot remember if Sarah participated, I don't think she did because I don't have a pic of her, but I know the family behind me did! They were laughing at me!

I only remember about the fish symbol because I took a pic of the sign. :rolleyes1 But, there was a ton of stuff like that in there! A child could easily do a school project about it!

I got a book about the Chinese Tomb Warriors at Brooklynn's school book fair. I have not had a chance to read it yet, but hopefully I will during the Christmas break.

That is neat about the book! You'll have to let us know how it is.

I completely agree with you about that area being a special spot in Walt Disney World. That one very spot is probably my favorite in all the parks. Just somethin' about it.

I have forgotten to buy a souvenir many times. Good thing you are going back soon! I might have to pick up a Voices of Liberty CD sometime too...they are just awesome. Are you guys going to do the Candlelight Processional this year?

I love your fan! I've never noticed them before, so clearly, I need to spend more time shopping at WS. :rotfl:

Your trip sounds like a lot of fun so far, but I'm sure it was hard to be there without Henry.
