Allowable cheating?

My grandma used to do this (she was diabetic but loved to cook for others): sneak a big bite of something, chew it, and spit it out instead of swallowing it. I know it sounds gross, but if I did that with a big bite of a blueberry muffin or some other sinful creation, would I get more than 10 calories out of it?

It totally got me over wanting to eat the whole thing. Okay, maybe I took 3 bites that way, but still... none of it went down. :lmao: Am I the only weirdo?

That doesn't sound healthy to me. That sounds border-line food disorder. I'm not saying it is, just that it sounds like it could be a bad habit to adopt.

My moto is everything in moderation or finding healthier alternatives of the fattening items you like. For example I might have a frozen smoothie instead of ice cream (lowfat organic yogurt, frozen organic mango's, frozen banana or 10g of raw honey). Much healthier than a bowl of ice cream.

I think it's not a good thing to look at food in such a negative way. Food should be something you develop a good relationship with.

I hope I don't upset you by saying this, but I think you should really rethink this activity. I am not convinced it's a healthy one.

I don't know exactly what to think of this.

I have a friend who would use the tablespoon method. If a taste was desired he would take a tablespoon or "bite" and said that satisfied his need to have whatever it is he was tasting. The key is being able to not eat the whole amount which would be a great fete if I could manage that.

He was essentially cutting his portions and found success.

I have to agree with Mel that it felt sort of shameful to eat over the sink poised to spit it out... but I know I definitely don't have an eating disorder, LOL! Neither binging, purging, nor abstaining! Though there have been days I WISH I could have more willpower to abstain!

Anyway, oddly like Tigerlily said, it did meet the need to have a bite. And that was that. The need was about the taste, and feeling like I ate it more than the need to actually *eat* it. Oh boy... this is sounding really bulimic, isn't it? Arghh! So, maybe it's better not to play with fire then since it does sound like a duck when you write it down.

I just know if I really ate the bite, I would have to eat the whole thing, or at least half. Better to not have the bite at all, it seems. I'm going to go with the WW approach of the extra points you get per week, and just indulging myself with a treat every couple of days.
