During our last trip in 11/05 we noticed an alligator hanging our under the bridge by the main pool. Do they keep him/her well fed? Does he/she pose any danger?

They move them when they reach 4 feet. We were there in April 2006 and they just caught and moved the gator. Got some good shots of him. He looked like he was waiting to be feed.

Almost every body of water in Florida has a gator in it. Disney keeps a close eye out for them and when they grow to large or are a nuisance they are removed.

I would not stick my fingers anywhere near the gator, otherwise you should be fine. Aligators are a pretty common occurance in FL and are not usually agressive unless they lose thier natural fear of people. I would enjoy the aligator from a distance, and never attempt to feed or interact with him. Much of WDW property is a wildlife refuge, so there are bound to be all sorts of critters both in guest areas and in the designated wildlife areas. I've been living in Florida for years, and I still think they are neat to see and a great endangered species comeback story to boot!

Alligators occuring in their natural habitat are more than capable of feeding themselves. When humans intervene and think it is neat to feed them, because it is something they have never done/experienced, that is when the problems begin. The alligators become accustomed to receiving handouts and actually become imprinted and lose their fear of human interaction. They still maintain their wild instincts however and given the opportunity may attack even while seeming "tame". Thus the alligator becomes a threat to humans/pets and has to be removed or worse dispatched. The best way to enjoy them is from a distance and take pictures, but don't give them offerings, that may eventually lead to it's demise for accepting them.:thumbsup2

All alligators, except for the animatronic ones, at Disney World are potentially dangerous. If they are provoked and if they are hungry. Leave them alone and notify a Cast Member if you do see one. Disney will handle it from there.

Believe me we stayed clear, we may not have gators here in Maine but we do know not to mess with wild animals. However, we did enjoy seeing the gator each day so much so we gave he/she the name of "Ally the Alligator".

Nothing like a dead animal picture on the Dis!
Unecessary!

I saw one at Shades of Green last may. it was in the pond along the walkway to the Poly. It was about 5 feet long. I got some cool photo's and that made my vacation

I will have to say all of those gators better be in hiding by Feb 5 :rotfl: :rotfl:
WDW is going to be swamped by cajuns and the only thing better than crawfish is fried gator :rotfl: :rotfl:

:rotfl: I'll take the crawfish - never tried alligator

I figured that was the reason you use to be able to swim in the lake at CBR yrs. ago but then signs were put up saying No Swimming Allowed.
