Southwest's nonstop to/from Flint is running close to $300 roundtrip for late August. I'll keep an eye on that one in case it comes down closer to $250 or so, but that seems unlikely. I know that particular flight has been popular with Michiganders who can't find reasonable schedules or fares at their local airports, and/or can't fly nonstop except from Flint. My concern with this flight is that, like with Allegiant out of Toledo or Frontier out of Detroit, they have the one flight and that's it. If that flight does not go for any reason, it will not be possible to depart that same day on a different flight. Earlier this month, I used Southwest out of DTW (which was nonstop coming back, not sure why they discontinue that in August) on the assumption that if it was canceled, they could still get me there via Midway or BWI or whatever. So I guess my main concern is whether the flights actually happen; as bad as these ultra-cheap airlines are, I figure it's only about a 2 1/2 hour trip so it's worth sucking it up as long as I don't get canceled.
