You've just got to calculate everything out, and decide if it makes financial sense for you. Make sure you factor in the cost of luggage, carry-ons, priority seating (if needed) and car rentals. They've got some great deals, sometimes.

Has anyone ever flown AA and if so, your opinion.

I am seriously thinking about using AA for my trip in February. They don't have the schedule up yet for February, but that is fine...I will keep looking and watching.

In the interest of clarity, I would recommend against referring to Allegiant Air as AA.

AA has long been the shorthand name for American Airlines. AA is on the tail of American Airlines's planes. And AA is the official IATA airline designator for American Airlines for airline ticketing.

The official IATA airline designator for Allegiant Air is G4. But that's not intuitive, so it's probably best just to type Allegiant.

AA has its schedule up through most of July 2013. But that's American Airlines.

Airlines have minimum check in times for luggage. They vary by airport. 30 minutes or 45 minutes is typical.

Based on the Allegiant website, it seems the airline has a stricter-than-typical rule (although it doesn't make clear if there are local variations): "Passengers with checked baggage must check in at the the airport ticket counter at least one hour before flight departure." See http://faq.allegiantair.com/what-time-should-i-arrive-airport-my-flight.html.

A PP said you have to check luggage 45 minutes before your flight. Goes to show you can never be too careful double checking the requirements for your airline and your airport.

Reason: The employee who checks your bags probably has another job. Either loading the baggage on the plane or helping load passengers on the plane (GA).
