Allegiant Air?

I moved to Florida 55 years ago. I "love it" here. It has been great and life has been great. What would have happened if everything didn't go as well and a Hurricane came through and tore the state up and than I didn't move here. Who cares, something else good would probably have happened. I hope not to many people base their decisons on freak hypothesis.

Allegiant has repair facilities at Sanford and Orlando. The only time there is problems is when there is problems all around Central Florida and that is due to weather. So all flights into central Florida get held up or cancelled. I have never seen an Allegiant flight get cancelled that day because of mechanical problems. I have seen more flights get cancelled at MCO due to bad weather and hurricanes than Sanford. Actually bad weather, at either the departure airport or arrival airport, is the most common cause of any flights being cancelled. I know, MCO has over 200 flights daily compared to SFB 10 -15 flights daily.

A flight cancelled due to mechanical, weather, or crew issues is not a "freak hypothesis."

It's happened to me many times over the years. With one exception, I've always made it to my destination the same day (although sometimes considerably later that day).

Sometimes I've been put on another flight on the same airline; sometimes I've been put on a different airline. Sometimes I've had to connect through a different city. But I've made it to my destination.

I would be wary buying tickets on an airline that only offers a few few flights per week and does not have interline agreements with other airlines. Also, chances are that the flight 2 or 3 days later does not have enough unsold seats to accommodate everyone on the cancelled flight.

Even if Allegiant cheerfully refunds my money on the day of the flight, I'm then stuck having to buy an expensive last-minute ticket on another airline.

The scenario of a cancelled flight is something to consider when booking Allegiant.

When I was younger I flew a lot to. I don't ever remember a flight getting cancelled and I don't recall being delayed much at all. I guess I didn't have your luck and maybe I can see the way you feel. But not everyone has that type of luck. I don't plan for anything like that to happen. It's the horse that hesitates at the jumping gate that gets you hurt, not the one that goes for the jump and makes it.

So, to me, the scenerio of a cancelled flight shouldn't even be considered. Just go for it. You can always adjust should you have to, but normally you don't have to worry about adjusting and you usually wind up ahead of things.
