Has anyone flown with Allegiant? We just booked with them because they are the only airline that I could find that offered nonstop flights. We are arriving at Sanford airport but its not that far to the parks, so just curious. ;)

Well, It's a plane, and it goes to Florida. And the price can be pretty low. That's the best I can say to you.

But, I hated Allegiant. We didn't pre-buy seats and got the very last row in the plane. They did not run the power during boarding and sitting on the runway, which made for a VERY hot 2 hours in the July sun, waiting for air traffic control to let us depart. Paying for every drink (including water) and
paying for every bag is becoming an industry norm so they are no longer unusual in their fees, but still the whole experience was unimpressive.

They are a cut rate budget airline and the service reflects that, but they got us to FL, and we had a great time at Disney. If you don't expect more than that you won't be disappointed.

It was about a 55 min drive to WDW at midnight (no traffic.)

There are many passengers traveling Allegiant to Orlando-Sanford International Airport. Passengers are pleased with the service, the non-stop flights from the smaller airports and the prices they can obtain for the flight. The flight is enjoyable as the attendents play games or hold raffles giving up prizes and small amounts of cash. Not sure if this happens on every flight but have heard it enough that I think it happens on most flights into Florida. The flight time is 1 to 2 hours depending on where you are flying in from.

Families can save roughly $100.00 to $150.00, maybe more, per passenger over the flights into Orlando International. The most costly extra is the reservation of seats for each leg of the flight. Most passengers now do not reserve the seats and pay the extra $11.00 or $12.00 per leg. Of those I have talked to, not reserving the seat has caused no problem with splitting up families.

The Sanford airport is a small airport about 50 miles from Disney. You pick up your luggage and walk out the door 50 yards to the transportation pick-up areas. It will cost you between $180.00 to $250.00 to acquire transportation to Disney using the car service companies. Car service companies are listed on the Orlandosanford airport.com website. The taxi rates run $125.00 one-way to Disney. There are plenty of rental agencies that can furnish cars to you. There is no Disney Magical Express serving the Orlaqndo Sanford International Airport.

I have not experienced a passenger that has had a negative experience with the airline. There have been at times delays in flight schedules but no really put-out passengers. By the way Allegiant is the one of two airlines reporting profits for the past quarter. The other was Southwest.

Thanks so much for the responses. :goodvibes I really don't care about the frills because it's a short flight. I think we'll rent a car, so that will be about as cheap as having someone take us to Pop Century. Thanks everyone

We just flew on Allegiant 2 weeks ago to St. Pete. We had no problems what so ever.

We did have to pay to check 2 bags, but most all are doing that now. We didn't get preassigned seats, but were able to sit together. There are 4 of us, they put us 2 and 2 in rows behind each other--we were in the 3 row seats coming back and someone else had the window, but no big deal. There are 2 rows of seats where you wouldn't be able to see out a window at all, but I think as long as you arrived the least bit early, you wouldn't get those. They seemed to be the last seats they filled.

Our total cost was 525.00 for 4 of us to fly from Roanoke. It is near impossible to fly from Rke. anywhere for that cheap. We did buy 2 drinks on the way down (2.00 each), DH and I split one and the kids split one and on the way back, we each got a drink and the DS and I each got a snack. I think that was 12.00. Sure, I would have liked to have had a free drink and snack, but it wasn't that much of a financial strain.

I thought the seats were roomy and the flight crew was very nice. The pilots kept us updated w/ flight info and time and all that.

We will certainly use them again, hopefully to go to DW!!!

Good luck!!

We always fly to Disney for Easter Week, and this past year we used Allegiant. They were absolutely wonderful!!!!! We had to drive a little further to get to the airport they fly out of, but it was so worth it. I am now seriously considering only flying Allegiant during busy weeks, and Sanford Airport was great to get around.

How are they about luggage? I paid for us all to have a suitcase and I'm going to take a carryon with important stuff and paperwork but if we bring carryons on the way home that will be ok right? Do we have a weight limit on our carryons or suitcases?

Carryons are on a problem. We always take two each but they are small. There is a size restriction but not on weight.
Have flown Allegiant four times and only had one delay and that was due to weather. Renting a car there is so easy: no lines and a short walk to everything but Alamo. Will fly then again next time I go to Florida.

We don't like Allegiant. The only good thing about this airline is that they let you sit inside the plane and not on the wing.
The airfare looks cheap until the add ons.
Sanford is a fonky airport.

We liked flying Allegiant, but watch out for the add-ons! The price can look low until you add in luggage and/or seats. We're flying SW this time because it ended up being cheaper and also nonstop. Allegiant can also have limited flights and times. In October, they only have Monday and Friday flights from our local airport, and the times aren't great. And they have NO flights to Sanford in September.

DisFlan

We've used them for both a Vegas flight and to WDW - we flew down to Tampa on a Friday night and drove over to WDW, then flew home from Sanford.

I don't see any diff between them and any other airline - planes were very clean and seemed newer, like Continentals. I mean, jeez - how much diff can there be, really? If you'd pay extra bucks just so you can get a free Pepsi... As long as the flight times work for you, it's great.

The big difference... the number of flights and the number of planes.

In other words if your plane breaks you may be out of luck. If they only fly from your city to Sanford on Wed and Friday for example and the plane breaks on Wed.... you MIGHT get on Friday or you MIGHT just get refund.

Now on the majors you may be on standby and it may take a while, but I have never not gotten there!

I agree. Just bring your own darn Pepsi.

We just booked our flight with them last week and are really excited. For the same price it would cost one of us to get a flight with connections to Orlando, we got tickets for the two of us for a direct flight on Allegiant and that includes the fee for luggage, taxes, etc. We didn't bother paying for pre-assigned seats. That's a relatively new option on most airlines anyway and it's worked out fine before this was offered.

We are going to Florida for a whole month so if we're late, it's no biggie.

However, we researched this airline quite a bit before booking with it. Some people did report planes breaking down. However, I've never heard of them having to wait two days for another plane, just a few hours. They typically send another plane from the hub right away it seems.
