Allegiant Air experiences??

I was just looking at Allegiant's website and I could get 4 round trip tickets for April for around $700. Sounds like a pretty decent rate but then I have to factor in the cost of renting a car to get to Disney. So now I'm debating on whether I should wait and see what rate I can get on SW since they don't come out until November.

Anyway, for those that have flown Allegiant before how was the experience? Was it a hassle to rent a car and drive to Disney from Sanford?
Did anyone fly out of Allentown PA, how was that airport?
If Allegiants rates drop will they credit us the difference or refund it?

Sorry for all the questions, I'm a complete newbie at booking airfare. :confused3

Never mind I did a search and came up with most of the answers I was looking for. I should have done that before posting.
Looks like most people say to wait until they have a sale before booking so that's what I'm going to do. Hope I can get a really good rate so we don't have to drive.

That Sanford airport is too far away from WDW for my liking - lots of traffic on I-4, also. Just my two cents worth.

We have flown Allegiant and did fine with it. I am watching the fares right now waiting for them to drop again for Jan. When we flew this past Dec. we had a car service pick us up and take us to the WL. It took about 45-50 mins and it was stress free because we werent in a rental car trying to find our way to Disney. From where we live we either have to drive 3 hours to Raleigh to get a decent fare (on SWA) and then catch the Magical Express, or we fly directly out of our hometown on Allegiant and drive 45-50 mins by car service once we get to FL. I prefer the latter. It just makes me crazy that they (Allegiant) only fly M,W,F out of our hometown. They are definately a no frills airline, but its only a 1 1/2 hour flight for us and so we have no problems with them.

We didnt experience traffic on I-4. I guess maybe that is because we flew in at 9pm?

Do you mind me asking how much the car service was? If we could save the trouble of driving that would make it even better.

We have used Allegiant twice this year and thought it was great. Both times we rented a car - but we did notice the shuttle busses available - not sure price. We drove 417 - toll road, not much traffic and most of the booths are staffed. Sanford airport is nice and small. For us, Allegiant is alot cheaper than any other airlines from our city - Greenville, SC.

For our 2 trips last Jan and Aug we used Florida Town car and paid $180 round trip &great service ! PS... that was the rate from Sanford.

We booked Allegiant for our Oct trip. We booked 6 months ago. Got a call a couple days ago that our 7:45AM flight was cancelled and we had to move to 7:45PM flight. I was not happy about that. They finally put us on a flight at 10am but we land in St. Pete.

not bad traffic, easy 417 deb's site gives you exact directions:

ME takes a couple of hours to get to your resort anyway so don't kid yourself, you walk out of the plane and then take a monorail to the baggage and then find the line to wait in until they call for a bus for your resort:confused3
just as long..
we always rent from Dollar or Alamo in and out of the airport in a 1/2 hour, we rent for 1 day, and remember you can drop rental cars off at car care center/ downtown hotel, if you don't need it and pick it up again for the ride back but...
:sad1: pls. don't wait for the airfare to go down from lvia it does not, it will be $69 then 81 then 140 and 189, they just opened the May 2008 schedule today so it will not go down,
also remember a $11 charge for seat assighnments and at least a $5 per/bag charge add on
FYI... flying Sw Feb. for $49 from philly if interested...

From what I remember of the 2x's we flew Allegiant into Sanford last year there is no ME and also no monoorail , you get off the plane ,walk through the terminal, take the escalator down to baggage claim and if your being picked up by town car your driver will be holding your name on a sign ,gather your bags and leave. :goodvibes

We paid $180 round trip from Sanford to the WL too. The airport is small and very easy to manuever through.
